Chasing Diana

SEYMOR’S FOOLISH THOUGHTS of enjoying the union of his Alpha to his witchy mate were long gone.

After lurking in every nook and cranny of the back alley, his soaking wet clothes and his grumbling stomach were the least of his concerns. In fact, he did not think about it until now. Instead, he was bombarded by the maddening thoughts of thousands of different scenarios of his conclusion should they find Diana Ritchell heavily wounded, captured, or worst… dead.

A crazy alpha was a disaster, but a mad crazy Alpha Dylan Cain? That was simply a premise for the end of the fucking world.

Alpha Dylan’s clenching jaws were a telltale sign that his beast wanted to last out. With the connection blocked and her scent was covered by the heavy downpour of rain – it was not looking for their search party of two.

His fists that were clenched as well that Seymor had to maintain a safe distance in order to avoid being the recipient of his Alpha’s veined fists. Veins started to protrude along his bare bronze arms. And his beastly eyes were eerily sharp. It was not the eyes of a tracker in which they were playing the role out this moment.

Instead, it was the eyes of a predator, hunting for his prey. And, Alpha Dylan had been like this without even sparing Seymor a second glance or a single word. The elite Alpha only huffed and puffed the entire time and it was driving Seymor crazy. He would rather walk on eggshells rather than to stay at the same space with his Alpha.

It was as if Alpha Dylan had turned into a walking firecracker.

“A-Alpha, should we assume the search tomorrow?” Seymor hoped, he even looked up above the sky to ask for Moon Goddess’s help that his Alpha would affirm.

            But no.

All hopes went down into the drain when he only received a low growl which made Seymor flinch visibly. He had no hope anymore. It was evident from the enlarged irises of Alpha Dylan that his beast was on the verge of taking the control from the last shred of humanity of his Alpha.

‘That is why he is being silent. The Alpha is having an internal battle with his beast over the control. But seeing the enlarged dark orbs at the apex of his blue eyes, I can tell that Alpha Dylan is failing miserably.’ Seymor observed. He lowered his dimmed emerald eyes to show that he was no threat from his mate which Seymor believed to be nearby.

“Don’t move, Seymor. Not a muscle. My beast is thinking that you are stopping him from finding his beloved. My beast is thinking of you as a threat. And right now, my beast is thinking a thousand of ways to kill you the most painful way for stopping him to see his mate. So do not fucking move a muscle.” Gritting through his canines, Dylan’s shoulders were heaving as he showed his Beta his last act of mercy – the mercy from the human side of the beast who was planning to kill Seymor in many ways.

Even Seymor’s plan to gulp audibly was put into halt upon realizing how dire his situation was! He did not think that such nonsensical words could possibly lead to his death! But then again, he did not know what to expect from a newly mated alpha who had lost connection with his mate.

            Seymor’s refused to blink.

With his widened eyes and mouth half closed, he knew he was a sight to behold at the moment.

His shoulders were tensed. The only thing within him that could not be calmed even when his mind was screaming to calm down was his pounding heart.

Who could blame him? Alpha Dylan, with his eyes now completely black and his canines protruding, was now standing before him with a hair breadth distance from him.

A deep guttural growl followed by his snapping snarls almost, almost, made Seymor flinch.

‘Moon Goddes please! I refuse to die like this, to die now, for I am a virgin still! I am yet to experience the pleasures of a female companion!’ Seymor wept in his mind, for he could not move an inch. Not when an intense pair of beastly eyes were glaring at him.

Seymor wanted to close his eyes. His eyelids trembled upon remaining open even with the onslaught of heavy downpour of the rain, but the desperate wolf in him was telling his primal instinct not to blink or it would set off the rampaging Alpha Dylan – this stupid friend!

The scalding heat from his Alpha’s breath fanning over his awkwardly tilted and unmoving face made him blink on instinct, for his Alpha’s canines were nearest to his jugular! Damn it!

The beast within Seymor moved at the back of his conscious. Upon the movement, a menacing growl erupted from the heaving chest of the soaked Alpha Dylan of the Blood Claws Pack.

“I-I am sorry, Alpha! Please spare me!”

“I-I am sorry, Alpha! Please spare me!”

Seymor was ready to grovel, to kiss his Alpha’s feet if needed be.

But it was in this moment, that a howl of the western wind encased them.

Not minding the change of the weather, Seymor failed to see the stiffening of every fiber in his Alpha’s being. The latter’s canines which were an inch away from tearing Seymor’s jugular froze upon the scent brought by the howling wind from the west of their standing point.

Sniffing the air by tilting his chin up, Alpha Dylan’s focus deviated from killing his Beta to smelling the lingering smell brought by the wind.

“Diana,” said Alpha Dylan before he raced to his west where the smell came from.

One moment, he was about to die. The second moment, he was left alone in the back alley of the Crescent Pack’s central town.

“I… I am… I am alive!” Seymor hugged his still intact body, his knees losing all its strength.

Stumbling onto the murky cobblestones of the back alley, Seymor continued to hug his body. He checked if he was indeed alive or it was a flimsy imagination of his soul when in reality, his spleen was already detached from his body.

But lo and behold! He was indeed alive and kicking!

“Fuck yes! Thank you, oh great one!” Even though he could not see the stars because of the raging storm hovering above the central town, Seymor still tilted his head in silent prayer of gratitude to the Moon Goddess.

“But where did he go?”

Snapped from his frenzied mind, Seymor finally looked for his Alpha after relishing the fact that he was indeed alive.

‘Thanked Goddess for that western wind.’ Seymor exclaimed in his mind before he stood up. He dashed to the direction where the western wind would come from.

Though the rain washed the majority of Alpha Dylan’s lingering scent, the wolf’s senses exceeded the limit. He followed the traces of his Alpha without delay. Beta Seymor shifted in the midst of his run.

And he was welcomed by the loud thuds followed by the sound of crashing furniture inside a fairly small brick house at the outskirts of the central town.

“Let me go this instant, Dylan. The Crescent Pack will pay! The Werewolf Committee will pay! And no one, not even you my mate, can stop me from washing their territories with blood!”

‘Oooh. I want to see my Alpha who might be fuming mad right now!’

Alpha Dylan growled low. "We will wash their territories with blood, but for now, let us go back home first and leave this place.... Please, Diana."

"No! Shananel that bitch is here! If I leave today, my chance in meeting her again will be close to none!"

"I am your alpha and you will listen to me!" The alpha command boomed.

'Oh no!' Seymor was shocked when his alpha used the alpha card. He closed his eyes and waited for hell to break loose.

"I am your mate! I am your Luna! In the eyes of the Moon Goddess and the pack, we are equals! And I say no!"

Transforming back to his human form, Seymor trotted towards the uncanny house that would surely show him an uncanny scene.

First step… Second step… Third step…

On his fourth one, he was about to turn to his right to enter the scene when a wooden door went flying outside the house.

It barely missed Seymor’s face by a hair breadth distance, making him gape in pure horror. His eyes followed the broken wooden door that crushed against a Methuselah tree, shattering itself into pieces. The wooden debris now lying on the slopes of the said tree.

‘Oh wow, that could have been my face.’ Seymor thought as he stared at the debris of the wooden door and to the unscratched Methuselah tree.

Shaking his head, Seymor realized something. ‘It is a complete war zone inside. And by the looks of my Alpha’s dwindling growl akin to a whimper, I can bet my life that Alpha Dylan is on the losing side.’

Instead of going inside, Seymor stirred clear from the two.

With the way Diana Ritchell was still seeing red, he could conclude that Alpha Dylan failed to bring her back to the Blood Claws Pack.

Contrary to what he imagined, the broken hearted Luna did not embrace his Alpha. Rather, Diana Ritchell was fighting his alpha fair and square.

A corner of Seymor’s lips curled into a grin. He thought, ‘My dear brother is getting his ask kicked! Well, I’ll be damned if I do not occupy the front seat!’

Seymor bit his right knuckles to swallow his snickers. His shoulders were trembling as he enjoyed the luxury of witnessing his ever-amazing alpha being thrashed like rug rat.

“Did Luna Diana just escape?” With shaking lips and trembling fingers, Seymor pointed at the direction where Diana ran off to.

A blur of black raced past the frozen form of Seymor.

‘Oh no! No, no, no! This is bad!’

His alpha had long vanished from his line of sight.
