Zack caught Kathy before she hit the floor. Everyone turned as Anthony’s anger flared at the sight of another man holding his mate. Grace came over, placed a hand on Kathy’s forehead, felt the fever burning through her, and hurried into the bedroom bathroom. Anthony grew uneasy as the pain returned. Seth rushed to his side and noticed the black vein spreading faster across Anthony’s face, then checked his arms and saw the dark veins there, too. Seth had to think quickly, unsure whether the pain came from vampire blood running through Anthony’s veins or from hunger.
“Anthony, listen to me. Tell me exactly what the pain feels like.”
“It’s my stomach, it’s nothing but cramping,”
Seth pulled out his cellphone and start to talk to someone to bring him a couple of bottles of blood. When Anthony heard that, he went pale as he heard that he has to drink blood.
“There is no way in hell I’m drinking that.”
“You have to. If you don’t, the hunger pain will only get worse. Besides, your fangs are already lengthening.”
The pain gone, Anthony laid his head back on the pillow, his gaze drifting towards the bathroom. Zack placed Kathy under the shower, and her mother, ensuring the water wouldn’t splash her face, turned it on. Kathy transforms into her mermaid form and her mother sighs, but the water wasn’t cold enough, so she has full up the tub.
“Zack can you fill up the tub for me just cold water,”
“Yes, miss,”
Zack filled the tub as Lord Theo entered, having heard what happened to his granddaughter.
“Where is Kathy?”
“She is in the shower with Grace, trying to get her fever down,” said Seth
Upon entering the bathroom, King Theo saw Kathy, in her mermaid form, lying unconscious in the shower with Grace next to her. He observed Zack filling the tub with cold water and then shutting off the faucet.
“Miss the bath is full,”
“I heard what happened,”
“Yes, Father. Kathy has a fever, and the water isn’t cold enough,”
Theo approached the tub, formed a small block of ice with his powers, and dropped it into the cold water, letting it sink beneath the surface. Then he lifted Kathy, carried her to the tub, and gently lowered her into the icy water, making sure the ice covered her body.
Kathy felt her body cooling as the heat slowly faded. She opened her eyes and saw her mother, grandfather, and Zack standing in the bathroom, all watching her with concern.
“What happened,”
“You fainted because of a high fever. Luckily, Zack caught you before you hit the floor.”
“Thanks Zack,”
As she about to get out of the tub, she realizes that she is in her mermaid form, just leaning back in the rub. Then she looks at her mother.
“How is Anthony?”
“Well, your father says that Anthony has to drink blood for his hungry pain. But he did run some test of the blood in the syringe,”
“I see. Um…wait did anyone tell Lord Frances and Queen Vanessa that their son is here. They must be worried,”
“Wait—you didn’t tell them? You just took him?”
“Yes, I had to get him here first so father can check him out first. Just called them and tell them,”
Before Grace could say anything, one of the nannies came in the bathroom with crying Melody in her arms, trying to smooth her but it didn’t work. Kathy sits up more bit in the rub and holds her arm out for Melody.
“I am sorry to disturb Melody just woke up crying,”
“That alright go and watch the boys,”
“Yes, miss,”
Melody’s eyes fluttered open, tears streaming down her face. Kathy gently wiped them away, her touch soft against Melody’s cheek. Melody clutched Kathy’s fingers, as if making sure she was truly awake and safe in her mother’s arms.
“I know Melody I left you and your brothers too long,”
The ice-cold water touch Melody toe, which made her pulled her little foot back and Kathy hold her a little higher and lightly touch her nose and smiles.
“What happened in that unknown place that Maria was kept?” asked Grace
“It was a trap from beginning with that vampire lover of hers that transforms into female name Miku,” said Kathy
“Queen Raine told us that she didn’t send anyone by that name to you, because she was going with you to see Maria,”
“As soon as I got there, I felt my body weaken, like the witch power was leaving me—but not my mermaid powers. When I entered the building, I realized it was a trap. I saw Maria and Miku, and then Miku turned back into male vampires. I thought I was going to die there and never see any of you again, so I used my mermaid powers to fight back and killed them both. After they were gone, a huge void tried to pull me in. I ran as fast as I could, blasting through every door, but it kept following me like it wanted to make sure no one escaped. With the little strength I had left, I opened a portal and jumped through it. I landed outside, but the strangest part was that I could feel Anthony’s pain as if it were my own. I’ll tell you the rest once I’m out of this tub. Mom, take Melody.”
Grace lift Melody out of Kathy's arms as Zack was about to stick in his hand in the water. Theo stops him because the water that Kathy’s is sitting in is poison, due that her body was healing it’s also getting rid of any poison through her mermaid tail. Therefore, Kathy reach and pulled out the stopping as the black water went down the drain.
“Zack hand me that shower head so I can rinse this stuff off,”
Zack did as he was told and turn on the water on for, the cold water hit her skin making her have goosebumps and all the poison wash off and go down the drain, once she was done. Zack lifts her out of the tub and sits on the floor then gives her a towel. Everyone left the bathroom and Grace closed the door behind them. So, Kathy can dry off her body and tail turns back into back into legs as she got off the floor and heading toward the walk-in from the bathroom so put on some clothes before coming out of the closet into the bathroom.
Anthony still sitting on the bed drinking like 20 bottles of blood through a straw as turns around to see Kathy looking at him, then looks away.
“You probably think I am disgusted of me drinking blood,”
Kathy got on the bed and crawl to toward him and sit down then smile then at her father.
“Anthony you are not disgusted, I watch my father drink blood all the time, plus I used to it,”
Before Anthony could say something, everyone heard someone phone was raining then Kathy looks over to her nightstand and opens her drawer, it was her burner phone was ringing. Everyone looks at her, Now her family will know more of her secrets.
