Chapter 121
Chapter 121
Seth walks into his bedroom where Grace is sleeping under the blanket he just smiles and took off his shoes and clothes and slid under the blanket with her just pulling her close to him. Grace opens her eyes to see Seth looking at her then kisses his lips before laying back down on the pillow and smiles.
“How is Kathy?”
He hesitated before continuing, lowering his voice. “She told me not to tell you. But I am going to tell you anyways, she got the result from Melody’s bloodwork. Noah is not the father of Melody, but Samuel and an unknown vampire are. Kathy is shocked when she read it, I think she has a secret tracker because I saw him from the shadows standing next to her before I could go up to them, then he disappeared. Like she senses it,” he explained, worry lacing his words as he glanced at Grace for her reaction.
“Wait, it’s possible witch power making her senses heighten,” Grace said softly, her brows knitting together as she tried to piece everything together. “Maybe that’s how she could tell someone was following her, even before she actually saw them.”
“Honey, this was way before she got those witch power. I had my men to keep their eyes on her when she was working and it was the same guy,” Seth replied, his tone thoughtful. He looked at Grace as if searching for confirmation, wondering if she remembered any details from that time.
“That is odd. I will speak with her in the morning,” Grace murmured, concern flickering in her eyes as she snuggled closer to Seth. She seemed lost in thought, considering the strange circumstances surrounding Kathy.
“Yes, it’s late; she needs some sleep. Prince Anthony’s birthday is coming up soon, and I was thinking of you taking Kathy shopping while the nanny watches the babies,” Seth said, his voice gentle as he glanced at Grace. He hoped the outing would lift Kathy’s spirits and give her a little break from everything that had happened.
“That’s a good idea, it’s going to be odd for her seeing Prince Anthony again,” Grace admitted, her tone thoughtful as she considered the upcoming event. “I hope the shopping trip helps her relax a bit, but I’ll keep an eye on her just in case she needs support.”
“Kathy is a strong woman, she knows how to control her emotions,” Seth said reassuringly, giving Grace’s hand a gentle squeeze. “But even strong women need support sometimes, especially with everything she’s been through lately.”
Grace and Seth closed their eyes as they went to sleep.
In the very morning, Kathy got up from her bed and noticed the babies were still asleep. She was surprised they hadn’t woken up for a bottle yet, so she quietly slipped into the bathroom to take care of her business, wash her face, and brush her teeth. Feeling refreshed, she headed to the kitchen to make herself some coffee, savoring the peaceful silence as she prepared for the day. After setting her mug down, she decided to take a quick shower.
As she was finishing up, Kathy heard a gentle tap at her back double door. She instinctively used her power to unlock and open the door, letting her bodyguard inside as the door closed behind him. He walked over to the counter, and she handed him a cup of coffee as he sat down, settling in for their morning exchange.
“Thank you my lady,”
“Did you find him?”
“Yes, he is hidden in an abandoned house with other low lives. I got something for you,” the bodyguard replied, his voice low but steady. He reached into his pocket, pausing for a moment as Kathy looked at him expectantly.
“What is it?”
The bodyguard handed her a clear bag with something inside. As Kathy took it from him, she looked down and saw it was a cigarette bud. She examined it closely, her curiosity piqued as she wondered what significance it held.
“It’s got his DNA on it. I can give it to my father—he can have it tested,” Kathy said, her voice low as she carefully sealed the bag again, considering the possibilities that a positive match might bring.
There a knocked on her front door which it’s made her guard turn around, Kathy went over to the front door and open it. It’s her mom with her dad as she steps back to let them in as Kathy is walking into the kitchen to lean on the counter. Seth looks at the man is sitting at the counter drinking a coffee that made his eyes glowing red and bared his fangs at him. This made her bodyguard eyes glowing golden growling at Seth.
“Dad, don’t start,”
“Kathy who is this man? Why is him in your house?”
“Dad, you mean my bodyguard Zack. Why he wouldn’t be here?”
“Kathy explain us,”
“Fine, Zack back off. My father will not attack you,”
Zack back down and sit down in his chair and finish drinking his coffee, Kathy pour more coffee in the three mug and put it on the counter.
“Come and have coffee and I will explain,”
Seth still has his guard up with Grace at his side and walks into the kitchen to grab the mug off the counter and stand next to her. He glances around warily, keeping a protective distance as Kathy prepares to explain everything.
Flash back
It was a Monday night, rain pouring hard against the windows of The City Night Club, and Kathy was working her usual shift. The kitchen was shorthanded, so she offered to take out the trash. As she tossed the bag into the dumpster, she noticed a figure slumped against the back wall—someone half-hidden in the shadows. Kathy hesitated, cautiously walking over and nudging the man’s feet with her own to check if he was conscious. When he didn’t respond, she knelt beside him and realized he was injured.
Without wasting time, Kathy hurried back inside and flagged down the two burly bodyguards stationed at the entrance. Together, they managed to carry the man into an unused room, where Kathy could tend to his wounds. She cleaned him up as best she could, offering him some food and a drink once he was settled. Seeing his clothes were soaked from the rain, Kathy made a mental note to find something dry for him to wear—she didn’t want him to catch a cold. Satisfied for now, she let him rest, keeping a watchful eye over her unexpected guest.
Quickly, Kathy went out of the room and looked for some clothes for him to wear, but realizing she had nothing suitable, she grabbed her coat and umbrella and headed to the nearest store. She kept thinking about what size would fit him, hoping she’d make the right choice, then returned as fast as she could with her purchases.
