Chapter 120
Chapter 120
While Kathy and the babies are sleeping, someone stands quietly outside, gazing through her window and watching her in the dim moonlight. Suddenly, Kathy feels a chill run down her spine—a sense that she is being observed. She wakes abruptly and scans her room, reassured to see the babies still peacefully asleep next to her. Rising from the bed, she pulls the blanket from her body, determined to check every door and window. Her eyes shift to a vivid purple, reflecting her heightened senses and intuition that someone is nearby. Moving to the double doors that lead to the deck, she unlocks them and steps outside, her heart beating fast as she searches for any sign of the watcher.
Then Kathy turns her head and looks up, startled to see a man crouched on top of her roof. In one fluid motion, he leaps down, landing directly in front of her. Instantly, Kathy tenses, her guard up at the intrusion—she doesn’t appreciate strangers trespassing on her property. The man is dressed in nothing but tattered pants, the fabric fraying at the bottom, and his eyes glow an unsettling, bloody red. His hair is as black as midnight, wild and unkempt, and as he bares his fangs, she realizes he intends to attack.
Without hesitation, Kathy raises her hand, her purple eyes flaring with power as she freezes him in place. She wants to know exactly what this stranger is before taking further action, her unwavering gaze meeting his as she keeps him immobilized with her psychic force.
“Who are you? Why are you on my property,”
“Maria told me you have my daughter. I am her father,”
Kathy’s face hardens. “I don’t know what you are talking about. Maria is probably lying to you—plus she’s locked up far away. You don’t even know if you’re really the father. Melody is my daughter,” she demands, her voice cold and steady, refusing to show any fear.
Kathy narrows her eyes, her expression unwavering. With a flicker of her power, she releases the stranger from her psychic hold, deciding the confrontation is over. She turns to head back inside, but before she can cross the threshold, the man lunges at her with renewed aggression. Acting on instinct, Kathy whirls around and delivers a powerful kick to his chest, sending him hurtling backward until he crashes into a tree with a resounding thud. The branches shudder from the impact, and Kathy stands her ground, muscles tense and ready for whatever comes next.
“Now leave and don’t show your face around her again,”
The unknown man gets up holding his stomach from Kathy powerful with his red glowing eyes.
“I will take her one where on the other. You won’t see the last of me,”
The unknown man, still clutching his stomach, suddenly darted back toward the wood, as Kathy's spy silently emerged from the shadows and bowed his head in respect. Kathy’s frustration simmered, her anger rising not only from the intrusion but also from the unanswered questions swirling in her mind. She was determined to uncover the truth—how could Maria have manipulated this stranger if she was imprisoned, and what lies had she told him to convince him he was Melody’s father?
Nothing about the man’s claim felt right, and Kathy couldn’t shake the uneasy feeling that there were deeper secrets at play. She resolved to investigate every angle, determined to protect her daughter and expose whatever deception Maria had orchestrated.
Kathy’s voice was low but commanding as she turned to her spy, “I want you to follow him, but stay out of sight.” Her gaze lingered on the woods where the stranger had vanished, her mind racing with possibilities. The spy nodded, slipping silently into the darkness, ready to carry out her orders.
“Yes, miss,”
As her spy disappeared, then her father Seth was at her side and see his daughter eyes are glowing purple looking toward the wood and turning around about to head into the house. Seth grabs her waist to make her look at him. Then Kathy slowly blinks her eyes and it’s gone back to her normal color, sight to herself.
“Sorry dad, I didn’t mean to wake you up,”
“It’s alright, I was already sense it. What happened?”
“It’s nothing, I thought I saw someone in my backyard that all,”
“I was going to wake up until the morning to give it to you. I know you want to see this right away,”
Seth handed Kathy the results of Melody’s blood work as she made her way into the house. Closing the door behind them, he watched her move toward the dining table and settle into a chair. Kathy unfolded the paper, her eyes scanning the report, and her breath caught in her throat as shock registered across her face. Seth sat beside her, his presence grounding her as she looked up from the results, then back down at the paper, struggling to process what she was reading.
The report revealed that not only was Noah not the father—Samuel, Noah’s father, held that role—but Melody’s blood also hinted that Maria had slept with a vampire. The implications were staggering, leaving Kathy with more questions than answers as she tried to comprehend the tangled web of secrets now unraveling before her.
Kathy stared at the paper, her hands trembling. “Dad, this can’t be right,” she whispered, her voice barely holding steady. “There must be some mistake in the results. How could this even be possible?”
Seth hesitated, his jaw tight. “I wish I could say it was wrong, but my team ran it three times and it still came out the same,” he said quietly, his words weighted with certainty. Kathy’s eyes widened, searching his face for any sign of doubt, but found none.
Kathy’s voice trembled, hardly above a whisper. “You are telling me that Maria slept with Samuel, and an unknown vampire. How is that even possible?” She gripped the edge of the table, her mind racing as she struggled to make sense of the impossible scenario now before her. The weight of this revelation pressed heavily on her chest, her thoughts swirling with disbelief and confusion.
Seth’s expression grew solemn as he met Kathy’s gaze. “Like you said before, it can happen, but it’s rare. Noah is not the father because he can’t have children. I went to the hospital and got his medical records—I asked his doctor, and it shows that Noah contracted some kind of disease that made him sterile,” Seth explained, his voice steady but filled with regret. Kathy’s breath hitched as the words sank in, deepening the mystery and leaving her with even more questions about Maria’s past and the tangled relationships surrounding them.
“Wait, I read that Noah has other children from the women that he be messing around with,”
Seth shook his head with conviction. “That’s not true. My men, who I had track down these women, confirmed it. Let me tell you, none of those children are his. But you won’t believe who the fathers really are,” he said, his tone grave as he leaned closer, intent on revealing the truth that would upend everything Kathy thought she knew.
“Who?”
“Some was got pregnant by guards, even men that is singles and don’t have mates. Just took the little ones and disappears. Even the women don’t want to talk about after they got abortion after Samuel got them pregnant as well,” said Seth
“I don’t blame them that don’t want to talk about. Dad this stay between you and me I will tell soon but not right now,”
“You know I can’t keep something like from her but I will try my best. You better get some sleep knowing those babies will wake up soon for their next feeding,”
“I will,”
Seth gave Kathy a gentle kiss on the side of her head before quietly making his way out the front door. Kathy followed behind, locking it securely as the weight of the paper in her hand reminded her of the secrets she now carried. She headed to her bedroom, slipping the results into a safe place where no one would think to look.
As Kathy climbed into bed, exhaustion tugged at her, but her mind refused to rest. Clutching her pillow, she stared at the ceiling, troubled thoughts swirling. Could that man who came to her house possibly be Maria's father too? The question lingered as she willed herself to sleep, desperate for a reprieve from the uncertainties pressing in on her heart.
