VALERIE'S POV
"Ambrose!" I pushed him when I wasn't able to breathe anymore.
"Today happened. Don't you dare to talk about having any kind of activity with the other man in front of me? You are mine and only mine. If anybody as much as dared to touch you, he'll die. I promise you," his eyes went slightly silver, and I smiled before cupping his cheeks.
"Don't worry, sweetheart. I am yours. Now don't be angry anymore. I was just kidding," I said.
"Huh, this isn't why I was here. I wanted to know if it was okay with you if we leave today itself," Ambrose looked at me, and though he was asking me a question, it was visible on his face that it was pretty urgent.
"Is everything alright at the pack? I mean, I know about those three dead bodies, but apart from those, did something else happen?" I asked him, and he smiled before flicking my nose.
"No. I just want you back in my arms in my house. Besides, we indeed need to search for the person who tried something so grave. It's like a challenge to me," Ambrose said, and I nodded in understanding.
"I am actually waiting for the council to end their discussion and tell me what they have decided and what they think," I thinned my lips.
"Discussion? Is it about you? I heard some maid talking about it how the council's meeting room hadn't opened for the last three hours. What are they discussing for so long? Has something happened?" He asked, and I was about to answer him when I heard the sound of lightning.
I looked up and blinked my eyes when a drop of water fell directly into my eyes.
"It's raining," Ambrose said, and I nodded.
"Let's go inside," I held his hand, but he didn't move from his place.
"Ambrose? What are you doing? Let's go inside. We will get wet and -" I paused when I noticed the smile on his face.
"This smile on your face, why do I not have such a good feeling about it? Why do I feel like something naughty or mischievous is going on inside your head? We have better things to take care of," I looked at him, and he shrugged, holding me tight.
"I don't know. I know things are hard, but we can take a moment and enjoy what's happening around us, right?" He looked at me, amused.
"Like this rain?" I asked.
"Like this rain," he answered and snuck his hand around my waist swiftly, pulling me close.
To be in a happy love relationship, it's important for you and your partner to have the same kind of madness and craziness to behave like a child and a mature adult at the same time.
"So what do you want us to do? Walk barefoot in the garden on the wet soil as it rains? Or just stand here?" I asked, squinting my eyes and blinking them furiously to keep the rain from blurring my vision.
"Nope. We can dance in the rain,"
"Without music?"
"I have your heartbeats. You hear mine," He said, and I didn't know he had it in him, but this was one of the most romantic things I heard from him.
"Okay. Accelerate your heartbeat for me then," I smirked before stepping closer to him, our lips only a few cm apart, and he looked down at me, his eyes getting intense.
I don't know about him, but my heartbeat was picking its pace, but not in anxiousness or shyness. It felt like a soft sweet ache that told me from time to time how much I loved him.
He turned me around before taking a step ahead, and I danced along with him on the tempo that only we could listen to.
A smile spread across my lips when I saw him smiling through the rain, and though I had seen him without clothes many times, I was still not prepared to see him taking his shirt off with the rain constantly glistening his body.
My throat dried a stark contrast to the wet environment around me.
"When I once saw this in a movie, I thought it was pure madness. Why would anyone dance in the rain and make a fool out of themselves? But now that you are between my arms, I feel like I have gotten the answer to my questions," Ambrose shifted his hand and cupped my cheeks, his other hand traveling further down to my hips.
He jerked me forward, making my body collide with him, and he sighed.
"As much as I want to keep dancing with you, this place is full of Alphas, both mated and unmated, and I don't want them to see the beauty in my arms, looking this ethereal," He whispered into my ears before he kissed my neck and grazed his lips downwards, stopping at the junction between my neck and shoulder and I gasped when he licked our mating mark.
"Damn, Valerie. Your n*pples are tracing through your top," He groaned, and I chuckled at his annoyance.
"Well, in my defense, I am not the one who wanted to dance in the rain. You should be able to bear the consequences of your actions," I looked at him, amused.
"I am happy that even after all the problems you guys are surrounded with, you still find it in yourself to enjoy your environment and find happiness in the little things," Logan's voice came, and Ambrose immediately hid me behind himself, making me chuckle.
He is so the protective and possessive alpha I like.
Logan looked at us, and his eyes held amusement.
"Well, you don't need to hide her. I have seen her in the worst situations, then a few things tracing here and there," he teased deliberately, and I chuckled when Ambrose snarled lowly.
"You better not speak about it," Ambrose took a step ahead, and I rolled my eyes before lifting the shirt that he had taken off earlier and wrapping it around my chest.
"Let's get straight to the point. What did you guys decide?" I walked ahead of Ambrose, who was probably looking at me as I evened my hair and threw them on my back.
"We are still discussing it. The council took a break because of the long meeting," Logan said, and I walked ahead before gently placing my hand on his chest.
"Logan," I looked at him from under my lashes, and he raised his brows as I grabbed the front of his shirt and collar into my fist before pulling him closer.
"Do you think I am a fool? What did they decide? Why is it taking so long? What are their opinions? I want only the truth," I looked at him sternly before trailing my finger up to his neck.
I don't know why I was feeling like this. But the urge to dominate and establish my foothold in this council was taking over me. The more Logan looked at me with that wary expression, the more I wanted to dominate this area, let my eyes speak, and do the work.
"You wouldn't want me to take a bite of you, right? Even if it's a small one," I sliced his neck with my nail before stepping even closer and sniffing the hot blood drop that drizzled down his neck.
"You don't want me to rain havoc. So I would like only the truth. You are lucky I only drink Ambrose's blood for now. I hope I made my point clear," I whispered into his ears before stepping a few steps away from him.
"So?" I looked at him expectantly, and he gulped, looking between me and Ambrose.
"So you guys are already sharing bl - He is allowing you to do it regularly?" Logan looked at Ambrose, who cleared his throat and stepped ahead, placing his hand on my shoulder.
"It's my guilty pleasure. You have no right to judge," Ambrose said.
"Right...." Logan trailed off before ruffling his hair.
"Fine, let me tell you the truth," he said, and I sighed, waiting for his response.
