Chapter 16 16

Chapter 16 16

Aria POV

“Any mail for me?” I asked the housekeeper, looking a little worried.

She lowered her head a little.

“Not yet, ma’am.” She told me.

I sighed.

“Okay,” I mumbled, and with that, I returned to my room.

Ever since I sent a package to Derek, I had been expecting a response from him, but there was none. I sighed and fell on my bed, trying to take a nap.

I rolled to the other side of the bed, but no matter how much I tried to fall asleep, I couldn’t. My mind was all over Derek. I knew Derek. He would never agree. He had been my husband for some years, so I knew what he was up to.

I sighed and sat up again. Just then a knock came on my door.

“Come in.” I directed the person in.

The door opened in a hurry, and Uncle Grey came in. Seeing it was him, I adjusted on the bed. I had thought it was Grace.

“You look so stressed out. Are you okay?” He asked me.

“I am an uncle.” I forced a smile on my face across from him.

He nodded and moved closer to me. Uncle Grey took a seat at the edge of my bed.

“I heard you are planning to get your daughter back.” He told me

My eyes widened a little because it was supposed to be a secret between Kane and me. I didn’t want to get any other person involved.

But seeing that he already found out, I lowered my head a little.

“Yes,” I mumbled.

“But how did you find out?” I asked him.

“Well. I actually overheard you talking to your fiancée.” He told me.

Now that he talked about him, my mind went over to Kane. I had been expecting him to give me a call and ask for the update, but Kane hasn’t called me or shown up even though it was a weekend.

"Could he be busy?" I thought.

“What would you think will happen to the family reputation?” Uncle Grey asked me, but I couldn’t understand.

“Don’t you think it’s the best to let him have the child?” Uncle Grey added.

My jaw dropped a little, and my eyes closed in fury.

“What do you mean by that? You are saying I should leave my child with that monster?” I scoffed.

“He is the father, and I’m sure he will take care of her." He shrugged.

"Look, Aria, I’m just trying to look out for you. I mean, you are so busy with work, and soon you will be getting married to Kane, and you will be crowned his Luna. You will have a lot on your plate. I doubt if you will have time to take care of her.” He added pissing me off completely.

That was so absurd! How could he say those words? Lily is also a family to him.

“So the only thing you think is working and taking care of the pack, Uncle Grey?”

“What about if I got pregnant for Kane and gave birth to his heirs? Are you saying I should neglect them too?” I raised my voice at him this time.

“That’s different, Aria. At least Kane will be their father.” He mumbled

I squinted my eyes. I could get it now. It was all about Lily. He doesn’t want her around.

“You really don't want me to bring my daughter home because I have him with another man?

“Do you think Kane will also accept him wholeheartedly?” He asked me.

I ran my fingers into my hair, looking so frustrated. I know Kane better than any other person. He is kindhearted, and he already promised to treat Lily like his own. Lily will be our first child together. That was our agreement.

I sighed.

“Just leave my room for now, Uncle Grey. I would love to be alone.” I told him.

He breathed out and gently got on his feet.

“I really hope you reconsider Aria.” He said on his way out, annoying me completely.

I hated him repeating that.

I watched him walk out of my room, and I groaned out in anger. Lily is my child, and I will never let her go!

I won’t allow her to keep living with Derek. I will get my daughter back.

I lay my back on the bed, staring at the sky. Remembering the package I sent to Derek, I knew it was going to cause a lot of trouble.

A knock came softly on my door again. I got out of bed in anger and walked to the door to open up, thinking it was Uncle Grey again. But this time it was Grace, my maid.

“Alpha Kane is here to see you.” She told me.

Hearing Kane's name strangely, my face lit up. Is he finally here?

I gently hid my excitement behind my straight face.

“I will be out in a minute,” I told her, and I closed my door.

I walked back to the closet and changed my dress. After I was done, I walked towards the living room.

Kane was sitting on one of the couches scrolling through his phone as he awaited my arrival. The moment he heard my faint footsteps as I approached him, he gently dropped his phone and looked in my direction.

“You good?” He smiled softly at me, and I smiled back at him.

“Quite well,” I mumbled and took a seat next to him.

“You look a little sad. Are you sure you are fine, Aria?” He asked, moving closer to me.

My mood had only worsened after hearing what my uncle had to say.

“I will be fine,” I told him.

Just then the doorbell rang.

“Grace, are you there?” I called out for Grace, but there was no response.

Seeing the doorbell ring again, I turned to Kane.

“I will be right back,” I mumbled.

I walked towards the door. The moment I opened up, I saw the courier man.

“Good morning. A package is here for you.” He told me.

My brows snapped together tightly. At this moment, I was only expecting such from one man.
I could feel my heart racing so fast at the thought of it. Is it really from Derek?

Did he finally send his response?
