Chapter 393

Chapter 393

Until the day of the move, Billy hadn't come to Brooke's house again.

Maria and Willow didn't have much luggage—two suitcases were enough. When they moved, Brooke still accompanied them.

The complex Maria had chosen was near a middle school.

When the three of them took a taxi there, school was still in session, and the surroundings were very quiet.

The complex entrance had security, requiring card access to enter and exit, providing a certain level of safety.

Seeing the environment of the complex with her own eyes, Brooke felt reassured and helped them organize their rooms for half the day.

Willow and Maria kept her for lunch.

After lunch, Willow wanted to see Brooke downstairs.

Brooke refused. "I've lived here for so many years. I won't get lost. Your body still hasn't fully recovered, so don't run around."

With that, she pushed Willow back inside. "Alright, you've been tired all day. Go rest. I'll let you know when I get back."

Brooke didn't give Willow a chance to refuse and closed the door directly.

She left the complex just as a bus arrived at the stop.

Brooke took the bus home.

As soon as she arrived home, she saw the front door wide open.

Brooke was startled, thinking thieves had broken in.

Just as she was about to go find a neighbor for help, Billy swaggered out of the house.

Seeing his grandmother, Billy froze for a moment, then became somewhat more proper after recovering.

"You troublesome boy, leaving the door open again." Brooke clutched her chest in relief. "I thought thieves had broken in!"

Billy touched his nose dismissively. "With me home, what thief would dare come?"

Then he glanced behind his grandmother.

Behind Brooke was empty—no one following.

Billy frowned in confusion.

Brooke smacked his arm. "What are you looking at? Is there a ghost behind me?"

Billy came back to his senses. "Grandma, where are those two guests? Didn't they come with you?"

As they talked, they entered the house.

Mentioning Maria and Willow, Brooke stopped and glared at her grandson unhappily. "You still dare ask? Tell me, did you bully Willow that day?"

Billy put on an innocent expression. "I didn't. I've always been good to pretty girls. Didn't Willow say it herself? We got along fine."

Brooke was skeptical. "Then why did she suddenly want to move out?"

At this, Billy's expression changed slightly. "What? They moved? When?"

Brooke said, "Just moved today."

"Where did they move to?" Billy quickly pressed.

Brooke instinctively started to answer, then suddenly remembered something and looked at him. "Why are you asking?"

Billy raised an eyebrow. "We're relatives, as I said. Shouldn't I find time to visit them?"

Brooke said, "No need. They probably won't be staying long. Just pretend nothing happened."

Based on her grandson's attitude, she increasingly suspected something had happened that day.

That meant she definitely couldn't let him know Willow and Maria's whereabouts.

"I'm going to take a nap. If you're staying, keep the noise down." Brooke walked toward the bedroom.

Behind her, Billy's voice rang out again, carrying a roguish tone. "So they just left like that? Didn't leave anything behind?"

Brooke stopped, confused.

Billy made a money-counting gesture with his hands. "They lived in Majestic City for so many years. They must have plenty of money. They stayed at our house for so long—didn't they show any appreciation?"

Brooke said, "You just said it yourself—they're family. What appreciation is needed?"

Billy sneered coldly, not responding, silently cursing his grandmother for being foolish.

What family? That great-aunt of his had lived the high life in Majestic City for so many years without ever inviting his grandmother to visit. Now that she was back, she suddenly remembered she had a sister.

His grandmother might be willing to be taken advantage of, but he wasn't.

Over the next few days, Billy stubbornly secretly followed his grandmother.

Sure enough, he saw Brooke take a bus to a complex on the other side of the county.

Shortly after, Maria emerged from the complex. The two elderly women talked affectionately and went out together.

Billy sneaked out from around the corner and pulled out his phone to make a call.

Soon, a blue-haired punk rode up on a motorcycle.

"Is this the place? You sure they have money?" The blue-haired punk parked his motorcycle.

Billy said, "Obviously. Why else would I call you?"

The blue-haired punk was skeptical.

Just then, someone swiped their card to exit. The two quickly put on respectable appearances, pretending to be residents and asking the person to help them swipe in, sneaking into the complex.

After asking around the complex briefly, they easily found out which building and unit the new residents had moved into.

The two went straight to Willow's building.

Upstairs.

After seeing her grandmother off, Willow felt drowsy and took another nap.

In her daze, she seemed to hear some commotion outside.

When Willow woke up, she was still somewhat disoriented, unsure how long she had slept. She thought she had slept until the afternoon, and Maria had returned.

Without thinking much of it, she grabbed a jacket and got up to go out.

As soon as she stepped out of the bedroom, she ran right into two people who had broken in.

"I hate picking these locks. Such a pain!" The blue-haired punk complained with disdain.

Then he looked up and saw the woman emerging from the bedroom.

Willow wore a plain silk dress, the soft, smooth fabric making her skin glow. Her face was bare, but her eyes were bright—she was stunningly beautiful.

After a few seconds, the blue-haired punk snapped out of it and nudged Billy beside him. "Your cousin is this pretty, and you didn't mention it earlier?"

Billy was also momentarily stunned.

When they had met before, he knew Willow was beautiful, but seeing her now, he was still amazed.

Coming back to his senses, he shot the blue-haired punk a warning glare. "Don't forget what we're here for today."

The blue-haired punk pouted in dissatisfaction.

Billy ignored him and turned to look at Willow with ill intent. "Willow, we meet again. Why didn't you tell me you were moving?"

Willow looked warily at the two men. "What do you want?"

The person with Billy was clearly a lockpick. Even if she hid in the bedroom now, it would be useless.

She could only try to negotiate with them.

Willow tried to stay calm. "My grandmother and your grandmother will be back soon, Billy. You probably don't want your grandmother to see you like this, right?"

Last time, when Billy had tried to take advantage of her and saw Brooke, he had quickly backed off.

Willow thought he might at least be somewhat wary of Brooke.

Unexpectedly, hearing her words now, Billy's eyes only showed contempt. "Let them come back. Two old hags—what can they do to us?"

Willow's heart sank.

Before she could figure out how to respond, Billy had already walked in with his companion, closing the door behind them.

"Willow, you'd better behave and don't scream. Otherwise, I can't guarantee what I might do to you."
