Chapter 143 The Wife's Complaint

Chapter 143 The Wife's Complaint

The thought of a kidnapping made Bella's face go pale.

Women were naturally more sensitive.

When something comes up, their minds race quickly, especially when it involves their precious daughter.

The security guard's face also changed. "It could really be possible! Riley, Mr. Capulet was just fine."

Benedict's expression turned serious. "Let me see the surveillance footage immediately. Who took Susie?"

"Oh, right this way. It was a woman, and she looked familiar."

The security guard led the couple to the surveillance room while explaining.

Estimating the time frame, he pulled up the footage.

Indeed, a young woman with a kind face and a good figure took Susie.

Susie was crying, lying on the woman's shoulder, sobbing, "My daddy can't die. Susie wants Daddy to live. Susie wants Daddy to live."

The scene made several security guards wipe their tears.

Bella was crying uncontrollably, collapsing into Benedict's arms.

A mother's vulnerability.

The terror of a mother.

It felt like needles were piercing Benedict's heart.

He gently stroked Bella's hair and shoulders, speaking calmly, "It is indeed a kidnapping."

Bella's body trembled, almost unable to stand, her legs going weak with fear.

Benedict held her tightly and told the security guards, "Keep the footage secure. Don't spread this around, and don't call the police. We're leaving now."

Back in the car, Bella was crying out loud.

"Benedict, what are we going to do? Why would someone kidnap Susie? She's so small, how much suffering will she endure? We should call the police!"

Benedict's stern expression softened. "Bella, don't worry too much. I'm Susie's father; I should handle this. Calling the police before we understand their intentions isn't safe and could harm Susie. Let's go home first."

"How can I think about going home? My Susie, she's so small and has already suffered so much. Who's the bastard that kidnapped her?"

But Benedict drove towards Jessica's place.

He instructed Bella to go upstairs alone while he waited for the kidnappers' message and took action.

He told Bella to calm Jessica down.

With Susie in danger, Jessica's pregnancy was at risk, and she couldn't be overly stressed.

Benedict said, "Besides staying calm, there's no other way. But whoever dares to touch my daughter will pay a heavy price."

Bella could tell that Benedict had changed.

In the past, Benedict had even said that if someone kidnapped Susie, he wouldn't pay a dime in ransom. If she were trafficked, he wouldn't even think about it.

Once, to get money for gambling, Benedict had threatened to sell Susie, forcing Bella to give him money.

In the end, Bella couldn't bear it and said, "Take me back to the old neighborhood. I'm afraid to face Jessica. I can't hold it together. You should comfort her. After all, Jessica listens to you the most as her doctor."

Benedict felt bitter inside. You have no idea how proud Jessica is in front of me.

But he nodded seriously, "Alright, we'll do that. Bella, you need to be strong. A stable home is what a man fights to protect."

"Yes, I know."

Benedict had no choice but to take Bella back to the old neighborhood.

Bella was worried, unable to sit still.

After a while, she calmed down a bit and called out, "Benedict!"

"Yeah?"

"Who do you think kidnapped Susie? Could it be Kenneth and his gang? Because you won their money, house, and car, and they're not happy about it?"

Benedict had his own thoughts. "Bella, don't overthink it. The kidnappers will give us answers. Logically, those three wouldn't do something like this."

"Are you sure? Those jerks have been so awful, causing so much trouble for you and our family," Bella said, full of anger.

Benedict shook his head. "In my judgment, they wouldn't go that far. In the future, they won't be able to harm me or our family. We'll only get better and better. Trust me."

He thought to himself, Kenneth had already sent drugs, and seeing no effect, they wouldn't resort to kidnapping.

Bella sighed and complained, "You say they wouldn't, but these people are no good! Oh, right."

"What?"

"Chloe and Zachary, they could be suspects too. Didn't you teach them a lesson? They might be seeking revenge."

Benedict chuckled, "Stop analyzing. You're turning into a female Sherlock Holmes."

"How can you still laugh? It's all your fault. If you hadn't gambled, if you hadn't hit Chloe and Zachary..."

Benedict interrupted, "No more complaints. Stay calm. Whoever did this, the truth will come out. If it's because of me, I'll make the kidnappers pay a heavy price!"

As he finished speaking, they arrived outside the old neighborhood.

Benedict was about to get out and take Bella upstairs.

Bella was still complaining and worried, "No need. You go to Jessica. If anything happens, don't fight recklessly. Stay safe, and call the police if you can!"

"Alright. While we wait for news, stay calm. I'll bring Susie back to you, safe and sound."

"Okay!"

Seeing the determination in Benedict's eyes, Bella felt a sense of reliance.

Benedict had indeed changed.

Bella dragged her suitcase into the neighborhood and went upstairs.

Benedict quickly drove to Jessica's place.

Originally, Jessica was supposed to pick up Susie.

But on their way to the kindergarten, Bella had called Jessica, saying they would pick her up.

As the car reached the building, Benedict's phone rang with a message alert.

He picked it up and saw it was from the kidnappers.

"Benedict, your daughter is with us. She's unharmed. But at 1 AM the day after tomorrow, be ready to receive instructions. Follow our orders. Only you, with 5 million dollars in cash, to ransom her. You have one day to gather the money. Remember, no police, or she dies!"

"Damn it!" Benedict gritted his teeth, his face full of anger.

Only when he was alone did he show such terrifying emotions.

Then he calmed down.

He immediately called the number.

But the other side didn't answer and hung up.

Benedict quickly sent a message: [No need for a day. Tomorrow at 1 AM, I'll bring the money to ransom Susie. I can get 5 million dollars in cash right away.]

But there was no response.

Logically, the kidnappers wanted money. Seeing such a message, they should be excited and reply.

Benedict thought for a moment and called the number again.

But it was already unreachable.
