Chapter 142 You Are My Wife

Chapter 142 You Are My Wife

ChatWave?

Benedict was pretty stoked about this new communication app.

Just think, it wouldn't be until January 2011 that a similar app would hit the market.

This app would be worth over a hundred billion dollars.

But Benedict already knew the future trends and got a head start.

Nearly a year ahead, he was revolutionizing the way ordinary people communicated, covering many aspects of daily life.

Daisy had no objections and trusted Benedict's vision and planning.

Benedict's foresight and boldness were unmatched.

After their conversation, Benedict felt extremely satisfied and confident about the future.

He lit a cigarette, turned on the custom smoke ventilation system in the car, and felt very comfortable.

Albert was puzzled but focused on driving.

Bella was a bit annoyed but didn't want to talk to Benedict.

Some things were better left unsaid in front of Albert.

But she couldn't hold it in and sent a text message.

"What were you talking about with that small-time director Bruce?"

Benedict's phone buzzed. He picked it up, smiled, and replied:

"Just discussing his new script. I know a thing or two about that. I think his script will be a big hit. Bella, if you want to act in it, I fully support you."

Bella read the message and felt frustrated.

"What do you mean by fully supporting me acting? David is your enemy; he doesn't want me to do this. He says the entertainment industry is too chaotic and will tarnish a person."

Benedict replied, "Are you going to listen to me or your ex-boyfriend? You are an independent person with the right and freedom to make your own choices. I firmly defend that right and freedom."

Bella glared at him, took a deep breath, and replied:

"You are such a unique husband! You even have a three-year agreement with another man for fair competition. So David has the right to pursue me again, and you don't get jealous, but I feel awful! What kind of husband are you? Do you really consider me your wife, your woman? Benedict, what has gotten into your head? You're driving me crazy!"

Finally, she let out her pent-up anger.

Bella felt a bit better.

Benedict replied, "In name and legally, you are my wife, my woman. But in reality, do you consider me your husband? Do we have feelings for each other? Maybe not. So, fair competition isn't a bad thing. If you are destined to be my wife, the outcome is clear. If not, I can't force it. True happiness is what you deserve."

"I don't want to argue with you. No matter how we debate, you always have a point. Why don't you become a lawyer and argue cases for people?"

"I don't have the time for that. I have a lot of other things to do. Back to the acting, what's your decision?"

Bella was torn. "If I go, I'm listening to you, and David will definitely cause trouble for you. If I don't go, I'm listening to David, and you won't get mad or go crazy, and you won't hit or scold me?"

After sending the message, she glared at Benedict again.

Benedict smiled at her and typed:

"I won't get mad. Going crazy is even less likely. Hitting or scolding you? How would that make me any different from a scumbag? I promised Bruce I'd help him secure a $50 million investment for his script. If the money isn't enough, I'll keep investing. Some of that money might be ours. Don't you want to earn some of it back? If the box office isn't good, you'll lose more if you don't earn."

Bella felt a surge of anger.

She wanted to turn around and yell at him.

He was using their family's money to make movies?

Was he forcing her to act?

For a moment, she didn't know how to respond.

But when she looked up at the rearview mirror, Benedict was still typing.

"Bella, your silence means you agree to act. You care about the money and this family. You're a good woman, and I appreciate that. Go for it, Bella. You'll be a big star. The chaos and filth of the entertainment industry won't affect you because I'll do everything to protect you!"

Bella rolled her eyes and replied, "Easy for you to say!"

Benedict smiled calmly.

Albert, sitting nearby, sensed something interesting was going on.

This couple was in the same car, yet they were texting each other instead of talking.

After a while, Bella replied, "How much are you planning to invest in Bruce's script?"

"We'll see," Benedict replied, not daring to mention the full $50 million investment, which would surely scare Bella.

"Where are you getting the money?"

"It's not from gambling, and I'm not eyeing your money or using your house or car as collateral for loans."

"Do whatever you want, as long as it's legal. If you want to tell me, fine. If not, whatever."

On the highway, heading east back to Newport.

During the day, this busy highway had a lot of traffic.

So, for safety, the speed wasn't very fast.

By noon, they were only halfway there.

The three stopped at a service area for lunch.

Afterward, Benedict took over driving from Albert.

Albert said, "It's fine, I can keep driving."

Benedict replied, "Don't be silly. This is my car. I can't let you drive the whole way. I can drive too. Take a good rest. When we get back to Newport, you have to report to your new job."

Albert had no choice but to listen and moved to the back seat.

Riding in the car was quite comfortable.

This luxury car was different.

Bella was curious, "Albert, you changed jobs?"

"Yeah! Mr. Capulet recommended it. I heard the CEO is a beautiful woman."

"A beautiful CEO?" Bella was puzzled and looked at Benedict with some suspicion. "Which beautiful CEO?"

Benedict focused on driving. "Oh, it's Riley and Ruby's mom."

"Oh." Bella was relieved.

So Albert was still going to work at Bella's company!

At 4 PM, they finally returned to Newport.

Benedict dropped Albert off at the Golden Bridge Realty office building.

He had given prior instructions, so Daisy was waiting for Albert in the office.

After some polite exchanges, Albert went upstairs alone.

Benedict smiled in the car, "Bella, don't you want to check out your business?"

Bella rolled her eyes at him, "Enough with the bragging. Didn't you say it was a secret? Can I even go up there?"

Benedict smiled, "My wife has principles, and that's great. I hope you won't mention Golden Bridge Realty in front of David either. Otherwise, I'll feel some pressure."

"Can you stop mentioning David? Even if you don't mind, it makes me uncomfortable! Do you think I'm stupid enough to tell him? He could easily ruin your business."

"Okay, I won't mention him. Let's go pick up our daughter."

Benedict drove straight to Starlight Kindergarten.

When they arrived, it wasn't yet time for school to end, and there were many parents waiting to pick up their kids.

Bella missed her daughter, so she went upstairs with Benedict to pick her up.

To their surprise, the security guard was startled, "Why are you two here? Didn't someone say Mr. Capulet was in a car accident and wanted to see Susie one last time, so they took her?"

"What?" Bella was shocked and looked at Benedict, her heart racing. "My husband is fine! How could he be in a car accident? Oh no, is it a kidnapping?"
