Chapter 136 Oath

Chapter 136 Oath

Benedict lit a cigarette and took a drag.

His mind suddenly felt a bit foggy.

His sensitive nerves alerted him that something was off.

This wasn't the usual taste of a cigarette, it was...

Benedict's brain suddenly felt a rush of excitement.

The fatigue from four hours of driving seemed to vanish.

He felt like he had just been injected with adrenaline.

Benedict frowned and took another drag.

Confirmed!

This wasn't the taste of Camel cigarettes; it was laced with drugs.

He understood immediately.

As a high-stakes gambler, there wasn't much he hadn't seen.

He gave a cold smile, extinguished the cigarette, and put it back in the pack.

Carefully, he found a plastic bag and wrapped up both packs of cigarettes.

"Kenneth, you bastard, trying to trick me with drug-laced Camel cigarettes? Old trick."

Benedict went to the service area store and bought another pack of Camel cigarettes.

He lit one up and took a drag. The familiar taste was back.

The pure taste of Camel cigarettes.

After finishing the cigarette, he started the car and continued driving towards Imperial.

Just past midnight, Benedict's car pulled up outside the hotel.

As he parked, he glanced around and smiled.

Outside the hotel, on the street, a flower delivery van was waiting.

He had placed an order online with a flower shop in Imperial before he left, requesting 999 roses to be ready by midnight and delivered to a specific location.

The cost was four thousand dollars.

Because it was a special rush order in the middle of the night.

But money wasn't an issue for Benedict.

Soon, Benedict had the roses in his arms.

Holding 999 exquisitely arranged roses was quite a sight.

At the hotel front desk, he asked for Bella's room number.

The receptionist was stunned. "Sir, are you her boyfriend?"

"I'm her husband, legally," Benedict said, even showing their marriage certificate.

The receptionist looked at it and exclaimed, "Oh my God, you're so romantic!"

Benedict smiled, got the room number, and even a key card, then headed upstairs.

Behind him, the receptionist was full of envy.

Look at this husband, so handsome, so rich, driving such a beautiful and powerful car, and so romantic.

He arrived outside Bella's room and went in.

Bella was sitting on the bed, wiping her tears and throwing tissues around.

She didn't even notice someone had entered.

Benedict felt a pang of sadness.

This stunning beauty, looking so pitiful, could make any man feel protective.

He understood her feelings.

He placed the roses at the foot of the bed.

Bella was startled.

She gasped, realizing someone had entered the room.

She looked up and saw Benedict!

Bella couldn't believe her eyes.

"What are you doing here?"

"I knew you were upset, so I drove all night from Newport," Benedict said, glancing at the tissues scattered around, and smiled, "If I didn't know better, I'd think something terrible happened in here."

Bella followed his gaze, saw the mess, blushed, and threw a tissue at him.

"It's all because of you! You jerk!"

Tears started flowing again.

She felt wronged, sad, and heartbroken.

Benedict walked over and half-knelt by the bed.

This posture was already a sign of humility.

Looking down at Bella, he said, "Don't be sad, don't cry, you should smile."

"With a husband like you, how can I smile?" Bella interrupted him, her voice trembling with anger. "You say one thing and do another, using me as a bet, never changing your gambling ways! Do you think buying all these roses will make me happy? Do you think I'm some naive girl? I know everything, you jerk, you actually..."

Benedict nodded, still half-kneeling, letting Bella vent, scold, and cry. She needed to get it all out.

Bella continued, her words pouring out through her tears. She even kicked the roses to the floor. Finally, she collapsed on the bed, her body trembling, crying uncontrollably.

After a long time, she finally calmed down a bit. Benedict took a deep breath and said, "Bella, tonight, I need to be honest with you."

"Gambling with Kenneth and the others, I had a hundred percent certainty. A gamble without certainty is called gambling; a gamble with certainty is called an investment, cheating, or trapping them."

"They've wronged me so badly, they need to pay the price."

"Now, our family has everything, and it will only get better."

"Tonight, I swear to you..."

Saying this, Benedict knelt down and raised his right hand.

"Kenneth and his people won't win another penny from me. Their refusal to accept defeat will only make them lose more."

"No one will bully my woman and child, no one will harm my loved ones!"

"The old Benedict is dead, the new Benedict is reborn! My promise to you still stands."

"You will never be my bet again. Because I now have enough capital."

"When I make a billion dollars, you can decide how to arrange our marriage, and I will respect your decision."

"Albert, David, you can consider them. After all, Albert is sincere, and David is now successful and about to return to Newport."

Bella's heart pounded. She listened to every word, already deeply shocked. At this moment, she got up from the bed, her hair a mess. With tears in her eyes, she glared at the kneeling Benedict, "What are you talking about? How do you know about David?"

Benedict remained calm and smiled. He picked up a tissue and handed it to her, "Bella, you went to college and did well. I believe you can calm down, wipe your tears, and listen to me."

Bella looked at him in confusion but took the tissue and wiped her tears. "Alright, stop kneeling, get up and talk."

She sat on the bed, tidied her hair, and straightened up. Her scrutinizing gaze fixed on Benedict.

Benedict said, "Thank you."

He stood up and sat on the small sofa by the bed. "This all started when you went on this business trip to Imperial. Because Albert overheard Freddy."

Benedict explained everything in detail. Bella listened, shocked again and again. She couldn't believe Freddy was such a disgusting person. Thank goodness for Albert. Thank goodness Benedict outsmarted Freddy. She couldn't believe Albert was working for Benedict. He was secretly protecting her. And David's appearance, Albert had informed Benedict about it. Benedict had driven five hundred miles alone in the middle of the night to explain everything. She felt like she was getting to know Benedict all over again.

Benedict finally said, "About David, the information you didn't finish reading, I think it was about the golf tournament. I knew I could beat Kenneth. So they insisted on betting, two villas against our four cars."

"And as I said, it's like cheating with superpowers. So now we have two villas. The property deeds are in this room, with your name on them. Bella, can you find them?"
