Chapter 536 Myertle for the Win

Soon, she withdrew her gaze and glanced down at her hand, spreading out her fingers to admire the ring.

Upon closer observation, Freya discovered that the carving on the ring turned out to be their names.

"I love it. Thank you, Honey," said Freya.

"No need for that. I'm the biggest winner here; I managed to trade a ring for a wife." Declan smirked.

Freya raised her brow. "You're right."

Then, she smiled brightly and said, "How about yours? Are you wearing it? Let me see."

Declan stretched out his hand and revealed the other ring.

Freya's heart fluttered. She reached for his palm and intertwined their fingers, a subtle noise ringing out when the rings came into contact with each other.

Even though they were merely holding hands, it felt like their hearts had connected too.

Anyone could tell how in love the couple was, for bliss surrounded them as they gazed at each other.

Freya snapped a photo of their hands.

In it, their rings were exceptionally distinctive, with their intertwined fingers as the background.

When they got home that night, Freya uploaded that photo to her Instagram and Twitter accounts.

Unbeknownst to her, that night, she and Declan had made the trending list.

Apparently, a bystander chanced upon their proposal and recorded a clip of it. It had gone viral on the internet.

Hence, as soon as she uploaded the photo of their rings, her comment section was immediately flooded.

Reading the well-wishes in her comment section, Freya was practically on cloud nine.

Suddenly, her phone chimed with a notification that someone she followed on Twitter had tweeted.

The only people she turned on notifications for were Hope, Aaron, Eva, and Declan.

She clicked into the notification.

Freya stole a glance of Declan, who was blow-drying his hair. She was curious what he had tweeted.

She quickly clicked into Declan's profile and saw that he quoted her tweet with a comment.

A bunch of netizens had already replied to the thread.

One of Declan's loyal fans, who was in the financial industry, tweeted a reply:

Another one from the fashion industry replied:

Out of all the replies, only the person from the fashion industry received a response. Declan replied:

Another person replied to Declan:

Declan replied:

And so, because of Declan, complimenting Freya became a huge sensation.

Freya was both embarrassed and delighted.

She refreshed Declan's page and saw there were a bunch of posts of the rewards on it.

At a rough estimate, he must have spent at least a million dollars on the rewards.

Under each post had the same reply:

"Hey! My phone!" All of a sudden, her phone was taken away from her.
...

Freya looked up and attempted to reach for her phone that was in Declan's hand.

Smirking, he threw her phone to the couch a distance away.

Seeing that he was stalking toward her, Freya knew something was up.

She chuckled awkwardly as she stepped back and said, "W-What's up?"

"I wonder if Mrs. Castle remembers that you said I'm not allowed to touch you for a week? In my opinion, since you've misunderstood me, shouldn't we forget about that rule?" Declan negotiated in a low voice.

Freya coughed nervously and was about to rebut him. But before she could say anything, Declan came onto her and sealed her lips with a kiss.

That night, not only was the rule scrapped, Declan got even more than he wished for.

Not only was the Southcastle Manor's atmosphere blissful, but Declan's proposal video, and the rewards he sent out as a display of affection, spread joy to every corner of the internet.

A large majority of netizens had sent them their well-wishes. After all, they did claim a reward for it.

Despite that, it did not mean that everybody was happy for Declan and Freya.

In a house in the western suburbs of Jadeborough, someone was replaying Declan's proposal video on her phone repeatedly, her eyes red and teeth clenched.

"Shel," said a man in a coarse voice.

It turned out to be Seth.

He furrowed his brows and clenched his fists, his expression dark as he tried to suppress his anger.

"Stop watching that. You're not well. Time for you to go to sleep," he said.

The light from the phone's display shone on a pale, skinny face, revealing the sinister expression on it.

It was Shelby, who was previously declared dead.

The truth of the matter was, she never died and had always been alive.

Back then, it was Xavier who saved her and locked her up.

Xavier had lied and deliberately told Seth that Declan and Freya "killed" Shelby.

His reason being, he wanted to manipulate Seth into becoming one of his men.

It was after Xavier's passing that Seth found Shelby by coincidence and managed to get her out.

Undoubtedly, Seth was thrilled.

What could be better than one's loved one coming back to life?

He began to spend his days imagining a blissful future with Shelby.

It wasn't until then that he realized she never loved him. She was still hung up on Declan.

Veins were bulging on his fists as irritability surged in his chest. Whenever Shelby ignored him for Declan, he would feel especially violent.

"Shel!" Seth yelled out. He clenched his teeth and took away Shelby's phone. "Wake up! Declan has long gotten over you! Why can't you turn around and look at me?"

Seth had given all his heart to Shelby. Although he was screaming at her, he was sincere about each word he said, almost as if he was begging her.

However, Shelby did not even look at him. She covered her ears and screamed, "Shut up! Shut the hell up!"

Seth felt a stab in his heart at Shelby's words.

"Seth." Without warning, Shelby stood up and threw herself into Seth's arms.
