Chapter 245 Battle Lines Drawn

Chapter 245 Battle Lines Drawn
Lily's POV

While everyone stared at each other, frozen in their standoff, I made my choice.

I pulled the medical scalpel from my pocket. Before anyone could react, I dragged the blade deep across my left palm.

Pain flared, but I didn't give a fuck.

Fresh blood poured from the wound, much faster than the IV drip. I pressed my bleeding hand directly against the hybrid flowers on my chest, watching crimson drops soak into their strange petals.

The reaction was immediate.

The flowers seemed to drink hungrily, their colors deepening from deep red to rich gold. I could feel them pulsing against my skin, growing warmer.

"Luna Lily is having a complete mental breakdown!" Elder Thornwood's voice cracked like a whip. "Medical team! Restrain her immediately!"

Three men in white coats emerged from behind the funeral crowd. Pack doctors I'd never seen before, carrying sedatives and restraints.

How long had Thornwood been planning this?

"Don't you dare touch her!" Iris snarled, moving to block their path.

But the doctors kept advancing. "Luna Lily requires immediate psychiatric intervention. She's causing herself serious harm."

Blood was streaming down my arm now, soaking into my torn dress. The flowers drank it all, growing visibly larger against my chest.

Almost there. I could sense something building inside them.

"You can't stop me!" I screamed at the approaching medical team. "This is my last chance! Gabriel needs this!"

Rose stepped in front of me, her face fierce with protective anger. "These flowers are reacting in ways I've never witnessed. Look at them!"

The hybrid blooms were now glowing faintly, their petals shifting colors like oil on water.

Even the skeptics could see something unnatural was happening.

"Mass hysteria," one of the visiting Alphas muttered. "Grief does strange things to perception."

But then Martha's voice cut through the chaos like a blade.

"What in God's name is happening here?"

Everyone turned.

Martha stood at the edge of the courtyard, holding my newborn son against her chest. Her weathered face was ashen with shock as she took in the scene - the divided crowd, my blood-soaked appearance, the approaching medical team.

My baby was crying now, upset by all the shouting.

Martha's eyes locked onto the glowing flowers pressed against my chest, then traveled to the blood streaming down my arm. "Sweet Jesus... Lily, what have you done to yourself?"

Her voice carried pure horror and confusion - not recognition or understanding.

"Even Luna's s stepmother can see this is pure madness," Thornwood declared triumphantly. "Sedate her before she bleeds to death!"

But Martha's maternal instincts kicked in. She stepped forward protectively, clutching my son tighter. "Wait just a damn minute! Nobody's laying a hand on my girl until someone explains what's going on!"

Her fierce tone made several people step back.

"Martha's been under severe stress caring for a newborn," Dr. Harrison announced, moving with the other medical personnel. "Emotional contagion often occurs in high-stress situations—"

Eleanor's voice rang out with Luna authority. "Back off! That's my daughter-in-law you're threatening to drug!"

The crowd was now clearly split into opposing camps.

On Thornwood's side: The pack council, several visiting Alphas, the medical team, and newer pack members I didn't recognize.

Supporting me: Iris, Eleanor, Rose, Sage, Grace, Emma, mostly my families and friends.

Caught in the middle: Ethan, Benjamin, Victor, Felix, Nova, and Martha - all looking torn between concern and confusion.

"Victor," I called desperately. "You understand losing someone you love! If there was even the smallest chance to bring them back, wouldn't you try?"

Victor's expression was filled with painful sympathy. "Lily, sweetheart... I understand your pain. But this isn't the way to heal from loss."

Benjamin nodded gravely. "What you need is professional grief counseling, not... this."

Even the Alphas who cared about me thought I'd lost my mind.

But then Emma stepped forward, her voice cutting through the doubt with scientific authority.

"Everyone looks at these flowers!" she shouted. "These were soul flowers! Lily fed them her blood following the Moon Goddess's instructions to bring Gabriel back, and you're all still standing here calling her crazy?!"

She pointed at the hybrid blooms, which were now pulsing with visible light. "Plants don't grow this fast! They don't change colors like this! They don't emit bioluminescence in response to blood!"

Sage moved closer, her expression shifting from concern to fascination. "Emma's right. Something extraordinary is happening here."

Rose nodded firmly. "Lily has never lied to us. Not once. If she says the Moon Goddess spoke to her..."

Nova looked between all of us, clearly trying to process the chaotic scene. Finally, she spoke quietly but with absolute conviction:

"I don't know what's happening here. But if anyone tries to harm this devoted girl who's willing to sacrifice everything for her mate... then they're my enemy."

Nova turned to look directly at Felix. Their eyes met, and he gave her a slight nod and an approving smile.

Together, they turned to face the crowd, their unified stance making their position crystal clear.

Hope surged through my weakening body.

But the medical team was still advancing.

"Council authority supersedes family sentiment," Dr. Harrison announced coldly. "Luna Lily requires immediate sedation before she causes permanent harm to herself."

The restraints glinted in his hands.

Fuck that.

I pressed my bleeding palm harder against the flowers, feeling them drink more deeply. "You'll have to kill me before I stop!"

Iris and Eleanor moved to form a protective barrier around me. So did Rose and Sage.

Emma positioned herself between me and the medical team. "Anyone who touches her will answer to me."

But Thornwood's supporters were advancing too.

I could see the moment when everything would explode into violence.

Pack members facing pack members. Lunas protecting me while council members demanded my restraint. Family defending me while authority figures ordered my sedation.

Ethan stood frozen in the middle, his face a mask of anguish as he realized he'd have to choose a side.

And then I felt it.

The flowers against my chest suddenly grew burning hot. I looked down and gasped.

Tiny buds were forming at the center of each hybrid bloom. Not normal flower buds - these were different. Rounder. Denser. Almost fruit-like.

The resurrection fruit was actually starting to form.

Holy shit, it was working.

Everyone could see the change now. The skeptics fell silent as the impossible happened right in front of them.

Even Martha's eyes widened in wonder as she watched the buds swell visibly.

But instead of backing down, Thornwood's voice rose to a furious roar.

"Enough! Seize her now before this madness spreads any further!"

The medical team lunged forward.

My supporters surged to intercept them.

The crowd erupted into chaos as both sides collided in the middle of the courtyard.

And all I could do was clutch the growing fruit buds against my chest, praying I'd have enough blood left to finish what I'd started.

Before they tore me away from Gabriel's last hope.
