Chapter 260 Chapter 260

Chapter 260 Chapter 260

Damien's POV.

“Die, just die!” The man yelled, throwing punches at me with all his might. Soon, he was out of breath, losing his stamina faster than I calculated as he couldn't land any of his punches.

Wearing him out seemed like the best option for his build before I proceeded to strike back.

“Tired already?” I asked, leaning back as he crouched on his knees, grappling his right chest and his breath wheezing out.

Moving wasn't an option for him anymore, he barely had a choice at the state he was in. He had to stay down if he wanted to hold his consciousness. Unfortunately, that was an option I wasn't giving him. I sent my foot swinging to his face and he let out a grunt upon impact. Before he could fall to the ground, I grabbed him by his neck, tightening my fingers on his throat.

“I told you to walk away, didn't I?” I whispered in his ears.

He tried using his fingers to claw out of my grasp, but I clenched tight on his throat like paws pouncing on a prey.

“P…pl…please,” he groaned inaudibly, his face turning red from the shortage of air in his lungs, but I didn't let go. He was going to kill me if I didn't pin him down anyways. Men like this cared less about their victims until they were made to go through what they did to others.

In about a few seconds, he shut his eyes, his fingers twitched slowly, his heart beated slowly and he barely looked alive. I could feel his pulse weakening, and his struggle too weak to harm a fly.

Then I let go. He fell with a thud, placing his hands on his throat as he grasped for breath.

“I'm not here to cause trouble. You are not who I'm looking for,” I muttered.

At the pinnacle of watching his life slip away, I could only think of Hailey, how she had worked her way through the government, the mission was less dangerous because of her, so killing whoever wasn't a target was like wasting the opportunity she brought for us.

He rolled away in fear, boxing himself in a corner, jerking and coughing loudly.

“Seven minutes,” I muttered, staring at my watch. The man took seven minutes of my time, quite enough to make Vincent escape my hands again. Worse, I had nobody to blame except myself.

I let my guard down, and he took his chance to escape. This would have never happened if I chased the woman out, or simply killed her like I was supposed to. Her life was dispensable anyway.

Was Vincent right? Could I possibly be slacking off? I shouldn't have gone soft knowing I have a syndicate to run, emotion wasn't a good look as a leader. It went against the code of instilling fear on my subject.

“Crap!” I cussed, stomping my foot on the ground. “Get a fucking grip on yourself,” I murmured. This wasn't the time to engage in a crippling monologue.

I rushed down the stairs and picked up both of our guns. Then I unloaded the bullets from the man's gun and tossed it away. He glanced at me, however, refusing to stand up from his spot.

Without a second thought, I moved forward hoping to get a good report from Kai or Lorenzo at the least, but as I walked down the last flight of stairs and opened the door to the first floor, I froze up.

Not in wonder or fear but surprise. Satisfaction.

The marbled floor with a teakwood color was smeared with blood allover; Vincent's blood. Lorenzo and Kai formed a circle around him giving him the beating of a lifetime. I could barely recognize Vincent from the bruises he had on his face.

His injuries were bleeding all over but neither of the savage beasts stopped to care. He cried out in pain and he tried to escape but it was pointless.

“Die, you little shit!”

“Traitous scumbag!”

The intensity of their hits was enough to send a man to the afterlife. I had to stop them, I needed Vincent alive for a few more hours.

“Stop. Both of you!” I inhaled deeply.

They pulled away as quickly as possible, turning their killer gaze at me. They wanted more, their knuckles itched for a few minutes more with Vincent. If I hadn't stepped in Vincent would have lost his life faster than he could tell us the information I needed from him.

“I found him trying to escape through the back door” Lorenzo coughed, breathing heavily. “I stopped him before he could make any move, then I thought to myself. Why have all the fun when I can just… share it,” he turned to Kai and they nodded in unison.

“We can end this right here,” Kai took a step closer, his eyes crinkling with dark intent. “This is what we have been planning for weeks, months, Boss.”

“Patience, Kai. We have him in our fingertips,” I moved towards Vincent who dropped to the floor, grunting and struggling to breathe right. “Believe me, I could have shot him dead when I had the chance but I wanted him to suffer.”

“Years I spent trying to get rid of Anthony Morellis, to make a family, to keep what I love safe from harm, but I never knew there was a scheming bat around me,” I crouched to meet Vincent's gaze, picking up a glass shard and making a slight cut on his face. He winced in pain, letting out a tear from his eyes. “You think I'm just going to send you to your maker just like that.”

“Please, just kill me,” he begged.

“No, I need you alive, Vincent. Now you are going to work for me like it or not,” I tossed the shard away and leaped up. “Tie him up, we'll take him back to our base.”

“But…” Kai tried to hesitate, fueled by his desperation to inflict more pain on him.

“I said tie him up!” I snapped. “We are in the enemy's territory. In a matter of time reinforcement will storm this building. So tie him up and let's leave,”

Silence crept into the still air as Lorenzo brought out a cuff from his pockets and carried Vincent on his shoulder. Kai followed promptly and the rest of my men took their leave. I stayed behind for a few minutes looking around the room filled with broken glasses, unconscious bodies and bloodstained cushions. It had been a long time since I made this type of mess.

I needed to strike fast before Morellis did. He wasn't going to like the reports when the news strikes that I found his spy. He was overwhelmed under government pressure, that's why I could easily storm this lounge that was in his turf.

“I'll take everything back,” I mumbled. I turned to the woman behind me, grappling her left shoulder with her right palm. She was hit by a bullet in her shoulder, the pain enough to render her cripple temporarily but conscious.

“Look at me,” I ordered. She shakily raised her head up, teeth clattering and her lips trembling. “Send your boss a message. This is just the beginning of the end. I'll be coming for him soon and he's not going to know when,”

She flinched as I blinked and pulled back, nodding excessively and almost shivering. I walked out of the lounge and hopped into my car.

The car started with a hum and I stared at Lorenzo in the back seat.

“He passed out when we got here,” he reported, glancing at Vincent.

“That's better, we'll wake him up when we get home. I need answers from him as fast as we can. Everything he knows about Anthony Morellis and Luca. Strategies and all.”

Lorenzo nodded, but Kai's fingers tightened on the steering wheel. “Forgive me, Boss, but I have to ask, what are we going to do to him when we get our answers? Traitors like him shouldn't get to live an extra second. They'll never change!” he exhaled, pressing his lips together. “He took things away from, he took away our pride, he took the one you loved most,”
