CHAPTER TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTY-TWO : LATE
CHAPTER TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTY-TWO : LATE
I could barely tell how I got in my car so fast.
Except the fact that I yanked the drip attached to my vein out of my hand.
Maybe I yanked it too hard the moment the call ended because I could feel the thick liquid which flowed out of the spot.
My eyes drifted down to the blood dripping down from the spot the cannula once lay.
I had been lucky to run faster before the security the nurses had called could catch.
My head rang with only one thing.
“I had to save Leah and my children.
And nothing else mattered.”
I drove hastily to the church venue I knew the wedding was happening.
It was a good thing I could not beat my temptation and got details about Leah’s wedding.
I drove into the venue, parking recklessly as I jumped down from my car running into the church hall.
I could feel the eyes which turned to face me the moment I entered.
Their gazes burnt hot on my skin.
Probably finding it weird to see a man with a hospital gown at a wedding hall.
But all that was less compared to how fast my heart was racing.
Or the milliseconds with which the wheels of my brain worked scanning the entire hall for her.
And when I couldn’t find her, my gaze landed on one person.
Yulia Landers.
I rushed towards her.
My eyes flared wide like I was on the verge of going mad, which I was.
My fingers tightened on her shoulders as I gritted with desperation.
“Where is she?” I said, staring into her familiar blue eyes which glistened with tears and trailed down her cheeks.
“Where is she dammit!” I roared, making the old woman flinch.
I felt hands on me, dragging me away from her roughly.
And I came to stare at the one pair of eyes I hated more than anything in the world.
“You bastard!” I yelled, not recalling exactly when my hands lifted in the air.
Or the moment it came in contact with his face.
But I felt the pain of the bones on my hands squashing his jaw, and it felt good.
Blood roared in my ears as the volume of my voice increased, echoing around the hall.
“I fucking left her with you!
You were supposed to protect her, but you failed like a damn coward!” I screamed in Killian’s face as he stumbled back from the impact of my hit, letting me go.
“What are you doing here?” He hissed, ready to hit me back or to order the security to throw me out.
But I knew one thing, that he was barely holding himself back.
“I called him here,” Yulia spoke up, coming to stand between me and Killian.
She turned, her watery gaze on me as she clenched out.
“I have no idea what you did to my granddaughter in the past.
Or for what reason she ran away from you.
But if there’s anyone that can save her today, then it’s you,” she choked, and Killian barked from behind her.
“What are you saying grandmother?
How could he possibly save her?
He is the cause of every problem in Aveline’s life.
Jennifer is his wife, how could he then…”
“Exactly Killian.
Jennifer is his wife!
And that is why he can find Aveline,” Yulia shouted, not backing down as she stared at Killian sharply.
And then, she turned back to me.
“Find my granddaughter and my great grandchildren.
That woman has your entire family in her hands and she’s going to ruin it, Mr Blackwoods.
As a man your first priority is to save and protect them,” Yulia could not be clearer.
But I never needed her or anyone to tell me of my responsibilities or my priorities.
If the need ever came, the entire world should have known by now that I don’t mind dying for Leah.
I have no idea how many minutes I have spent here.
But I need to act fast, otherwise I’ll be too late.
But, I could not think of anything.
Not one way to find Leah.
My hands moved through my hair again and again, gripping the strands in rage, and ready to tear them out of my skull in frustration.
How had Jennifer gotten out of jail?
And where could she have possibly taken Leah to?
Then, my mind flashed back to something I did in the past, and I froze.
Recovering quickly, I swiped through my phone as I phoned him.
And he answered right on time.
He was damned if he had not answered at this very moment.
“Young master it’s…”
“Is the tracker placed on Jennifer still active?” I spoke, cutting him off.
My fingers trembled as I held the phone.
“Ahh…yes sir it should be.
But it’s not been in use since the young madam was locked up in…”
“I give you two minutes, track where she is and call me instantly,” I gritted, ending the call as I moved to run out of the hall.
But then, a voice stopped me.
“Do you know where they are?
Have you found them?” Yulia asked in desperation.
Every fibre in my body burned with the need to run away instantly abd find Leah.
My brain echoed that every second I was wasting was crucial.
But seeing the tears which flowed freely, abd the devastation on the old woman’s face, I paused.
“I think I have,” I muttered, turning to leave immediately.
“I’ll come with you,” Killian said from behind me.
My fingers tightened into a fist in rage.
But I breathed through it, thinking calmly.
I have no idea what I was walking into.
And when it came to Leah’s safety, I made no compromises.
I nodded, not able to get my word out as I ran outside and into my car with Killian beside me.
My phone flickered to life as my men connected Jennifer’s present location to it.
My gaze darkened, glistening poisonously as I drove carelessly with little fear for my life.
All that ran through my head was that I might be too late to save them, and Leah and my children might be dead already.
