Chapter 251: CHAPTER TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTY-ONE : SAVE THEM
“Ha ha ha,” her laughter filled the air, and then she snarled.
“You must have missed me so much Leah,
See, you recognized my voice instantly,” she hissed.
My hands clenched tightly on the phone, my blood soaring in my veins as I barked.
“Where are my children, Jennifer?
Where have you taken them to?” I yelled in rage.
But she just laughed louder.
“Oh Leah,
You should really learn courtesy when speaking to me.
You don’t want to know how loud your daughter can cry, do you?
Come on, I’ll show you,” she muttered cruelly, and I could hear the shuffling of feet.
“Jennifer, I swear if you…”
My words were cut off by what sounded like a loud slap, as a loud cry filled the air.
One I never want to hear again till the day I die.
“Come on, cry for your mommy, tell her to come and save you,” Jennifer’s hateful voice came.
“Mummy!” That childish cry came and a sob slipped from my throat.
“Ashley, are you okay baby?
Did she…”
“Oh no no no, Leah.
That’s all you get.
I’m good right,” Jennifer laughed, and I knew she had left where Ashley was.
“What do you want, Jennifer.
Tell me, I’ll give it to you.
Just let my children go,” I screamed through the call.
All my calmness gone replaced with nothing but fear and a deep pool of dread.
“What do I want?
Oh now, you ask that, Leah,” she laughed again.
This time deeper, darker and louder.
And then, her laughter faded, as her voice dropped into a poisonous sound.
“I want you, Leah,” she spat.
“I’ll send you a location, get there in fifteen minutes.
Any minute later than that and your children’s dead body would be delivered to you.
And if you bring any soul with you, just know you’ll come here to meet the dead bodies of your children.
I have nothing to lose, Leah,
Remember that,” She gritted and with that, she ended the call.
I stood still, watching as a message with the location popped up from the unknown number she had called from just now.
A figure moved to stand before me, touching me gently as if I might break.
“Who is that, Aveline?
Who kidnapped the twins?” Killian growled, his voice darker than I had ever heard them, and I could hear the underlying rage beneath.
My wide eyes finally snapped away from the phone screen to meet his as I whispered.
“Jennifer.
Jennifer has my children,” I repeated, my breathing unsteady.
“Oh God, I have to go, she said fifteen minutes,” I said in fear, dragging the long veil away from my hair and tearing it in the process, but it didn’t care one bit.
I couldn’t even think of caring as I turned to run after taking my car keys from my assistant.
“Wait, where are you going, Aveline?” Killian said.
And for the first time, I saw fear in his eyes as he held on my shoulders tightly stopping me.
“I have to go and meet her, she said fifteen minutes,” I said, repeating it over and over again.
“No, that's too dangerous.
I’ll come with you," he muttered without any hesitation.
And I shook my head immediately.
“No, you can’t.
If I don’t go there alone, she’ll kill the twins,” I said hurriedly, pushing his hands away.
Not wanting to wait even a second, as I ran.
I could feel him behind me, running to catch me, but I didn’t stop.
I couldn’t.
Killian would not understand, he would never do.
Ashley and Ashton, they are my children, my entire world.
They are the only reason I’m still breathing today.
And if anything happens to them, I’ll never be able to survive it.
If Jennifer wants me in exchange for my children, then I don’t care, not one bit.
I’m willing to sacrifice it.
“Aveline wait, you are making a big mistake.
You are walking into her trap,” Kiloan shouted from behind me, the moment I got to my car and opened the door.
My gaze landed on his one last time, and I hissed.
“Then so be it, but I have to try,” I bit out, entering my car fully as I drove off to the location she sent.
ETHAN’S POV
It’s either mornings and afternoons became grey, or my mind made it that way.
My entire body hurt like hell, but I had to agree the pain had reduced within these seven days.
And my stitches would be taken out soon.
I looked up to the click above my bed as a bitter smile cut across my face.
“Today was Leah’s wedding with Killian.
She must be married to him by now,” I whispered.
And the thought alone brought immense pain to my chest.
One that squeezed me right there, making me unable to breathe.
I guess I’ll have to live with this pain forever, knowing I had lost her due to my foolishness.
On days like this I wish she never rescued me, because that day.
Because, I knew I would have at least escaped this endless pain that I knew would stay with me till the day I died.
A loud ringtone echoed around the room, as my attention snapped to my phone seated on the shelf beside my bed.
It must be one of my staffs at work.
They are the only ones who I had left to call me.
I picked it up, looking at the unfamiliar number as I answered the call, ready to hear another complaint.
But what I heard rather, made my entire world freeze.
“Hello Ethan Blackwood, this is Yulia Landers, Aveline’s grandmother.
Your ex-wife Jennifer has kidnapped yours and Aveline’s children.
And Aveline has gone there to save them.
Please, you have to do something now.
You have to save them before it’s too late.”
