Chapter 81: His Whispers
Vishiea’s POV
“You should eat now,” I told Darius while she's sitting on his chair. I couldn't help but smile. He seems to be recovering now.
I place the food including his medicine on his table.
He looked at me.
“Can you eat with me?” He asked. For the first time he spoke to me. I nodded my head and sat on the opposite chair.
He was surprised when he saw me and immediately agreed. I place food on his plate just like what I always do.
“You should eat more,” I told him. He nodded his head. He can now eat on his own; there's no need to feed him. I was shocked when he placed food on my plate. It's only the two of us here. I just let him do it. Besides, he would not be able to see me again.
“Vishea, I don't care if you're only forced to stay here or you initiate. I am happy that you're here” he uttered. I looked at him not wanting to ruin the breakfast. That's why I just kept silent.
“Let's eat” I tried to smile.
Darius, this is the last time we would share a meal together. I’ll let you have it for the last time.
I know, It's not only your fault why what happened between us was shattered. You're not the only one to blame. I am trying all I can to forget what you and your family did to me. But staying here in the palace wouldn't help me forget.
I just agreed to be here because of your Palace guard request. I still have a conscience. After our talk I had a peaceful life. I started a new life and focused on our business. I even did a great job but then I was disturbed because of your guards.
I knew they would leave until I agreed that's why I am here now. Since you're getting better there's no other reason to stay here.
You're getting better now Darius, you can start again. You can lead your men.
I let out a deep sigh and thought of something.
What if everything of this never happened to us? What would be our life together? Could it be that we are leaving peacefully? Or maybe not.
But things already happened. This is what the Destin wants us to be.
He might be the king right now but it doesn't mean that he could get whatever he wants, it doesn't mean he could convince me to do whatever he wants me to do.
I still have dignity in myself. What happened to us is something that I will never forget and a nightmare I will always dream of.
Darius, both of us suffered because of what happened. But none of them is my choice. You choose where you are right now and who you are while I am choosing to live my life.
“Vishea, if times go back. Would you still choose to be with me?” He asked suddenly while we were eating. I stop and look at him.
What kind of question was that? I let out a deep sigh.
Maybe I will. But thing's already happened for a reason and time wouldn't go back just like what is use to be before. Hearts were already shattered and memories were just something that would only remind us of our situation before.
If none of this happened. Maybe we are living a normal life. Maybe we're still together.
“What kind of question was that?” I tried to avoid answering it. He just stared at me and slowly nodded his head.
“It's fine if you don't want to answer it” he said and continued eating.
“I just wanted you to know that you always make me happy. You're my source of strength and I deeply regret the mistake I made before.’” he said and continued to eat.
I don't know how to respond to him right now.
“Darius, I just wish for your fast recovery. I know when you already gain the strength that you lost. You’ll be a great king” I said trying to avoid any dramatic conversation with him.
“Will you be proud if that happens?” He asked which made me look at him. I didn't expect him to say that yet I don't know how to answer his question.
I grabbed a glass of water and drank it.
“The palace will be proud of you” I answered.
“You should take you medicine now” I said while offering it to him. He didn't say a word and drank it.
After that the maid went inside to clean up. After they were done Darius stood up.
He looked out of the window. While I am hesitant whether to tell him that I am leaving.
“Vishea, Would you choose to stay with me?” He asked. I stood up and looked at him.
“Darius, I think you should focus on your palace. Not with childish things. We're all grown up” I told him. If that's the only way I could push him away from me then I will. I don't want him to expect anything from me.
He knew that what was between us was already done. He knew that from the very start when I left the palace.
“Childish? Is loving you childish?” He asked me. He then moved closer to me. I stepped back but then I got corner by the wall.
He stared into my eyes and his hands touched my face carefully.
“I just love you. I just want your forgiveness. I just want you to stay with me” he said like it's easy to do that. Maybe for him but not for me.
I tried to get away from him but he held my hand.
“Darius, let go of me” I said firmly but he didn't listen.
“It's fucking so hard to accept that you're avoiding me. I was so wrong and I made a big mistake in my life. That's why I am asking you to give me another chance. A chance to fix things between us” he uttered. I looked away not wanting to meet his gaze.
“Darius, that's enough” I said and turned around but he suddenly pulled me closer to him and hugged me from behind. I was shocked because of what he did. I tried to get away from him but he didn't let me.
I just let him do that until I heard a knock on the door. I immediately distance myself at him and walk through the door without looking at him.
“Vishiea." I heard him uttered but I left his room.
