Chapter 80: Willing To Wait
Vishiea’s POV
I am happy that he's doing great now. He's now undergoing treatment and I could see that he’s slowly getting back to the old him.
“Anastasia,” Liliane suddenly appeared in my place which startled me. How long has she been here? Did she see me leave the King’s room? I gulp and glance at the king's door.
She looked confused because of my actions and she followed my gaze. I tried to smile and lessen my nervousness.
“What brings you here?” I asked her but she looked at the king's maid going out of his room. She looked at me like she had thoughts in her mind.
“This is the king's place and I saw you enter, that's why I followed you.” she told me. My face turned pale. Did she know I went to the king's room?
I cleared my throat while trying to show a calm expression.
“Uh, oh.. I just talked to one of the maids here about something,” I explained to her. She looks at me for a second and slowly nods her head.
“What about you? What are you doing here?” I asked her, and she then realized something. She placed her hand around my arms and we started walking.
Luckily she didn't notice something going wrong.
“Well, I am here to tell you about something,” she excitedly said. I got curious because of it. I smiled as we walked out of the king's chamber.
“What is it? Is that something I should be happy about?” I asked her as we stopped in the hallway. She then giggled. She didn't answer me but instead she suddenly ran away. I got confused because of her actions..
“Liliane! Where are you going? I thought you wanted to tell me something?” I asked her but she just waved her hands on me.
I let out a deep sigh. What's wrong with her?
“Vishiea…” My eyes widened as I heard that familiar voice. I turned to check who it was and I saw Nathan standing behind me.
“Nathan?” When did he come back? I thought he's still away. He smiled at me. Then I realized that after that night we didn't see each other. We didn't even talk that night and I just left.
I feel guilty all of a sudden. Nathan and I also grew up together and he's so kind to me. I feel guilty for hiding the truth. I know he knows everything now.
I stared at him and just like before he's still the same Nathan. He smiled and walked closer to me.
“I heard you're here to take good care of the king,” he uttered. I wasn't expecting him to say that. I avoided his gaze. Where did he learn that? I let out a deep sigh and realized that he's a knight. It's easy for him to find things out.
Since I couldn't no longer hide the truth I just nodded my head.
“Yes, However it wouldn't take me too long to stay here since he's getting better,” I told him. He nodded his head and smiled.
“It's almost four months yet you still haven't changed yourself, still gorgeous” he didn't fail to compliment me. I smiled and we started walking together.
“And you're still the knight I met that day," I told him. He smiled.
“You granted the Palace guard request, that's why you're here. The king had suffered too much in the hands of his fiancée. I bet you already heard about that” he started the conversation. I stayed silent.
I already heard it clearly. The palace is no longer the same since Darius got sick. Yet life still must go on. Now he's getting better. I just hope he can recover quickly.
“It's for the sake of the Palace” I told him. He looked at me like he’s planning to say something.
“It's great that you're always willing to help the king and the palace” he uttered. We stopped walking and he looked at me.
I don't want to assume things but I feel like there's something she wants to tell me.
“Vishiea… when you arrive that day I know that there's something not right. I’ve already thought that that's actually you” he started. I wasn't expecting that he would talk about it. But maybe he should be enlightened on what actually happened that day.
“You didn't recognize me?” I tried to joke but he looked serious. My smile faded and started to walk. He just followed me.
“I did… I did recognize you. But I stayed quiet. I thought you’ll admit that it's actually you but then you kept on insisting that you're Anastasia. I really thought I was wrong and believed that you're Anastasia” he uttered. Even him got confused while explaining it to me.
“Then I slowly realize that you really look like Vishiea. I didn't say a word but I could really feel that it's you and I was right” he said while smiling.
He really did know who I was. He just didn't reveal anything. Nathan you're kind and I feel guilty for lying to you but I have no other option.
“I’m sorry for causing trouble, I shouldn't just lie to you but I know I have to. But you already found out the truth that day, thanks to Rachelle” I sarcastically uttered. He chuckled.
“So, how's the king? I heard he visited you that day, everyday just to apologize to you. But he ended up coming back to the palace alone.” He said. He heard that even he didn't stay in the palace.
“Things between us are already fixed and I just hope he respects my decision,“ I told him. He stopped walking and held my hand. I am surprised because of what he did.
I looked at him and he looked like he was having second thoughts.
“Are you two together now?’ he asked me. I don't know if I should answer his question right now and I am confused why he's asking me that.
“We're not. I am only here to help him recover. Why did you ask?” I pretended not to know his real intention. Though I already read it.
“I know, this is too fast but I don't want to lose another chance, Vishiea,” he uttered while looking directly into my eyes.
I just look at him and do not know how to deal with it.
“But I just want you to know that I like you… ever since we were just a kid. I just don't have the chance to tell it to you because I am afraid you would distance yourself from me. I– I know you're not destined to me but it's hurting me seeing you in that situation. In those hard moments in your life where I can't even do anything to help you but now I am willing to do everything for you” he said confessing to me right now. I didn't expect him to say it this early.
I don't know what to say. He smiled.
“I know I’m such a jerk for confessing to you right now but I am relieved that you already know my clear intention to you” he added. I smiled at him.
You're too kind Nathan. I don't know how to treat you right now.
You're too good that I don't even know if I should deserve this.
“Nathan… after what happened to me. I don't know if–” he cut me off. He held my hand and smiled.
“Vishiea… I am not asking you to answer me right now. I know you still need to heal and I am willing to wait.” He told me a guard went up to us.
“Sir Nathan, we need you!” The guard said, Nathan looked at me hesitantly whether to leave me or not. But. Just smile and nod my head. But before he left he suddenly hugged me.
