Epilogue

From a bully to a friend, being heartbroken and finally to the man I love. Growth is surely a good thing. This is not how anyone will plan their dream love story but I'm happy I took the risk because in the end what matters most is my happiness.

It's been two years since I got married to Cody and this is the best decision I've ever made in life. He has been supporting my goals and I've become the best of myself. Cody is a loving husband and an amazing father to our one year old son Dante. Dante is the exact replica of Cody. It's as if I didn't participate in bringing him into this world. The irony considering how this pregnancy was a tough one.

Against all odds, Miles got married to Alicia. It was such a beautiful wedding and I was a bridesmaid as well. It's been a month since they got married and I'm trying to reconcile with Alicia. The fact that we ended high school on a rough path didn't help at all. The distance that happened between us during college has really made things difficult for us. Daisy was a coworker in the same hospital I was a doctor but she is a nurse instead. She wanted to tour the world before getting tied to a man. That's exactly what she always says.

Cody was an IT engineer but he quit his job to move to New York for me after our marriage. He's now a company owner and I wasn't surprised Tedd was his assistant. That guy can never get enough of my husband. But he's a best friend to Cody and a great uncle to Dante. Dante really loves him a lot. It's been a while I heard from Chad. I was an aunt to his four year old twins; Gabe and Gabrielle. They are really adorable. It was so like Chad to still stay in Florida although it's a bit far from my parents but he wanted to be somehow close to them.

Today was an exciting day,it is Christmas Eve. A day before Christmas and we have all decided to spend it with my parents. It was tough booking for a flight with a one year old toddler who always throw tantrums. Dante was being a bit stubborn today. I couldn't stress Cody out since he was busy dragging our luggages to the Uber we had ordered. My only job was to get Dante ready but he's being running around with only his diaper on. I've chased after him several times. I was literally out of breath.

“Dante come back here, mommy is tired already" I whined and placed my hands on my hips. I wasn't going to do this anymore. I reluctantly sat in the couch. Dante looked confused that I wasn't following him around. He looked cute throwing his hands around. “What wrong mama?" He asked and I scooped him up. He giggled and that was the cutest thing. “Mommy is so tired" I replied and he kissed my cheeks. “Sowwy mama, I took it awayy" Dante smiled looking so happy. “Mommy is all better now" I stood up with him on my hip. He was finally dressed now.

“Are you ready babe?" Cody stood in the front door and I waved. “Your was being stubborn but I got him under control with my magic smile" I replied and he took him from my arms. “That's more like it" Cody spoke and headed out with Dante while I reluctantly followed.

“I need to get a check-up when we come back home. I've been getting tired of late without doing nothing too tiring" I spoke with in a serious tone and Cody nodded. “As much as I love being a mother, I just wish it's not baby number two already. Although it's a possibility but I hope it isn't" Cody smiled at my response. The rest of the drive to the airport was quiet. Dante slept throughout the ride.

Once we got checked in at the airport and boarded the plane, Dante woke up very hungry. It was a good thing I pumped extra milk while we were at home. I fed him his bottle and he kept playing with my hair. Cody slept throughout the flight but Dante kept me awake till the flight attendant announced that we had reached Florida.

As we got down,Chad was already there waiting to pick us up with his wife and twins. We exchanged pleasantries and I slept in the car. My parents didn't know about us surprising them for Christmas. Chad knocked on the door and my dad came to open the door. It's been a lot of years but my dad hadn't changed in appearance with the exception of the gray hairs that were standing out. He was in his early fifties.

“Daddy" I squealed and hugged him tightly. “Omg honey, come see our princess is here this Christmas" My dad yelled and my mom rushed outside. I broke from the hug and hugged my mother tightly. “Naughty girl,why didn't you tell mommy you are coming so I could clean your room for you " I giggled. “I missed you mama" I whispered and she nodded. “Is that my grandson?" My mom pointed to Dante in Cody's arms. I nodded and she immediately grabbed Dante from Cody's arms. “He looks like your husband" My mother whispered and I giggled.

“Where is my manners? Please come inside" My mom spoke in a guilty tone and I chuckled. The house looked just like it did when I first left here. The only difference was the Christmas decorations in the house. “Mom,dad" Cody shouted and I turned right on time to see my parents-in-law seated in the living room. “Mom you should have given me a thumbs up about Cody's parents being here so I could look my best " I frowned and my mom smiled. “They love you the way you are" The grandmothers took turns holding Dante and it was good they were getting pretty much along.

Chad's wife, myself and mom was busy in the kitchen getting dinner ready after we had settled my stuffs in my former room. The door bell rang and I excused myself to answer it. “Millie you came for Christmas " Miles spoke and drew me in a hug. “I missed you Miles" I replied and he smiled. “Hi Alicia, nice meeting you again " I spoke in a haste. “Can we talk for a second outside?" Alicia asked and I nodded. “I will leave you girls to it. In case you need me honey I'm inside " Miles entered the house and I walked reluctantly behind Alicia towards my parents garden.

“I know our friendship isn't like how it is and it's my fault Millie. I thought you were jealous of me liking your brother that's why I decided to cut you off. But I just realized you wanted to prevent me from getting hurt should in any case your brother messes up. I know it would have affected our relationship. I'm sorry Millie for making us fall out, I'm sorry for blaming you and I'm sorry for missing your wedding as well " I wasn't expecting Alicia to openly apologize but I already forgave her. “It's alright Alicia. We are still friends and you are officially my sister-in-law and I can see I would be an aunt very soon" She giggled. “I'm becoming huge with time. I don't think it can be hidden anymore " Alicia spoke while caressing her protruding belly.

“Let's go inside, the weather is really cold and we don't want to provoke Miles today " We giggled and walked inside.

Seeing our family gathered around the table eating, talking and smiling made me happy. This is how it's supposed to be and this is the best Christmas ever.

This might not be anyone's love story but it's mine and I'm happy I get to have a happy ending with friends and family that love me.
