Chapter 77 The intense party...

Chapter 77 The intense party...
ELIANA

DAYS LATER

I dart my eyes around, sipping on the energy drink inside the solo red cup. The party is in full swing, more people attended compared to the last one.

I’m not that much surprised because I know how much everyone has been waiting for the party, to celebrate the Hawkers big win against the Pythons. I wouldn't be here, however, I didn't want to look rude to Cilian because he's the one who invited me. He personally did it because he knows that I helped the Hawkers in winning.

The party is colourful but blue is the dominating colour. Most students are wearing the Hawker's blue replica jerseys while some girls are wearing original jerseys borrowed from the players. I’m wearing Jackson's jersey, styled into a crop top matching perfectly with a white pleated skirt and white ankle boots.

The music is unnecessarily loud and bodies are moving to the rhythm of it as the neon flickering lights illuminate the dance floor. Some students are dancing, some chilling and talking by the pool, some playing truth or dare games, some cards while others are making out in cars and in the open.

The air smells of cheap booze, all kinds of perfumes, sex and something else that I can't quite explain. However, I don't dwell my mind on it as I continue to look around, enjoying the messed up situation.

A breath catches in my throat when I lock eyes with Jackson from the other side of the field, he's with a group of his friends and girls. They're busy talking, laughing and playing games. Despite him being a part of the group, he seems like his attention and mind are somewhere else.

He's a big deal in this party, he's the sole reason why the party was held back. It's because he's the captain and he needed to recover first. He was cleared the previous day and now he's free to go back to his normal life.

He raises the red cup at me, the corner of his lips curling into a smirk, his eyes fixated in my direction like the rest of the world has disappeared. I gulp, not expecting him to do that. However, not that many people realise since they're busy. A small smile tugs at the corner of my lips and I raise the cup to him too, silently congratulating him and his team for winning.

My eyes don't linger that much as I look away. We haven't talked about what happened between us a couple of days ago. Don't get me wrong, I prefer it that way. I have been avoiding him, trying my best to stay away from him because I’m afraid that it would happen again if I move too close. I can still feel his touch lingering on my skin, his mouth on mine and that lingering feeling of him buried deep inside. And the memories from that night replaying in my mind over and over again doesn't help that much. I swear, I have been trying my best to forget about everything. To forget how he made me feel deep in my bones but…

Everything happening around reminds me of that night, people kissing, touching…

My senses heightens. I wish I wouldn't have never come to this party. I wish I would have come up with an excuse to convince Cilian because he wasn't taking “NO” for an answer, saying that I shouldn't miss because I played a big part in the winning. I don't know what happened to me but… something inside me shifted since that reckless night. There's this need inside me that it's hard to suppress. Only the heavens knows how hard I have been holding onto my sanity for the past few days.

There are times that I almost slipped. Those few moments when I almost kissed him when I gazed at his lips. How I was tempted to run my fingers through his messy hair to feel it against my fingertips even if it's just for a second. How I was tempted to run my fingers along those deep abs each time he was shirtless around me.

How I…

I gulp the remaining drink in one go like it would help me feel better. However, it doesn't do that much.

“Hey?” A familiar deep masculine voice startles me and I turn into the direction. A pair of deep brown eyes sparklingly staring at me like he's happy to see me.

Killian.

“He-hey.” I say back, my lips curling into a smile too. Even though I don't want to admit it out loud, I’m glad to see him too. It feels good to have someone else that I know at the party.

I didn't spot him at the party when we arrived and thought maybe…he wouldn't come.

“I wasn't expecting to see you. I mean, you weren't around when the party began and I thought maybe…you found something better to do or something.” I say out loud my thoughts.

“My car tyre got a puncture and I had to fix it but yeah, here I am. I couldn’t miss a chance to have another dance with you.” He jokes and a smile tugs on my lips.

“I don't think I have gotten any better.” I joke back and we both laugh, “I don't think you’ve gotten worse either. We can always work on it.” I roll my eyes at his words.

Killian and I have gotten comfortable around each other over the weeks. He's easy to talk to, funny and respectful. Despite the busy schedule at school, he always stops by to say hello to me. And whenever I bump into him in the overcrowded hallways, I do the same.

He joins me on the bench and we start to talk, the conversation effortless like we have known each other for years. I inquire about basketball and he fills me in on everything.

“Congratulations to your team.” I say when he tells me about their recent win.

I gulp, feeling a pair of eyes burning on the side of my face. Slowly, I turn my head to look in that one direction and our eyes meet.

Despite the distance between us, I can feel the intensity in his eyes. He's still with a group of his friends and the girls. A breath catches in my throat when I catch a glimpse of the girl sitting next to him, Scarlett. She's leaning into him, her hand flat on his lap, whispering something in his ear.

Well, it seems like he's having fun.

I look away from him, turning my eyes to Killian, “Would you like to?” My eyebrows pull into a frown when I hear Killian's words.

“Like to?” I ask hesitantly, not sure of what he's talking about.

“To dance.” He nods to the dance floor flickering with neon lights, bodies moving to the beats of the music.

A smile tugs on my lips, “Sure,” I respond without giving it that much thought. I need something distractive and that just sounds perfect.

Killian stands up and stretches his hand to me. I take it with a smile, raising on my feets and he leads me to the dance floor…

“I wasn't sure if you would attend this party today. I was looking forward to this dance.” Killian says as we stop at the dance ground, looking down at me since he's a few inches taller.

A smile takes over my features, “Well, this might be the only chance. You better make good use of it.” I tease and he chuckles.

Killian is good-looking, I won't deny it. He has deep brown eyes that would make a girl feel weak in the knees. Sharp features and blonde hair that a girl would want to run her fingers through to feel the texture. Good height and build like an athlete. However…I don't know what the hell is happening to me. For some stupid reason, I wish those brown eyes gazing at me as we sway to the rhythm of the music would be a few shades blue. And the blonde hair would be-

I suck a sharp when stray thoughts invade my mind. He swirls me around twice, the pleated skirt swaying to the wind, exposing my thighs but I don't care at the moment.

His hand slides back on my waist as he holds me in place, “It seems to me like you’ve gotten better at it.” Killian compliments and I laugh, letting myself go as I enjoy the moment.

I don't want to think about him. I don't want to think about anything…
