Chapter 78 Maybe I am jealous?

Chapter 78 Maybe I am jealous?
JACKSON

My grip on the red cup tightens as I watch Eli laugh at whatever Killian is saying. She looks care free and happy. I can't help but wonder what he said that has her laughing so hard.

“Man, what are you doing out here all alone.” Cillian's annoying voice comes as he joins me.

“I need to breathe some fresh air.” I say with a shrug and Cillian looks at me with a raised eyebrow, obviously not believing a single word that I just said. It's not that I was expecting him to.

“There's a lot of fresh air everywhere. And did you just reject that blondie? She's sexy. I think she has been waiting for this chance to hook up with you. She's hot, petite, long blonde hair that you can wrap your hand around while…you know. She was into you man. She was ready to give and take everything, even what you didn't ask for.” Cillian teases, referring to the blonde cheerleader from Eagles academy.

“You can go have her if you think she's that hot.” I respond nonchalantly. It's true the girl is hot. However, she's not the one that I want. I want long black hair, brown hazel eyes with a flicker of gold whenever the lights shine in them…

I didn't feel anything when I looked at the cheerleader blonde, not even a little. I didn't feel my muscles tighten with need. I didn't feel that irresistible pull towards her. I didn't feel my dick twitch in my pants.

Nothing.

Scarlett tried too. She tried to seduce me in all ways but it didn't work either.

“What has gotten into you lately? You're not the same Jackson Harrison that I have always known. Are you on celibacy or something?” Cillian asks with a frown, trying to make sense of what is happening.

I don't know what the heck has gotten into me either. It's hard to explain. All I know is that…she's the one I want.

Cillian follows my line of vision, “Your step-sister. She seems like he's having a good time with the basketball captain.” A low growl escapes my lips when I hear Cillian’s words, hard to hide my frustration.

Of course it looks like she's having a fun time. There's no reason for him to say out loud on my face because it only makes me feel the urge to walk over to them and pull her away.

She has been keeping distance since the day she walked away from me at the rooftop. She has been trying her best to stay away from me. She has been fighting the undeniable pull between us.Only the heavens, or maybe…hell knows how much I have been holding back. How it has been silently killing me. I have been playing her little game, holding onto that shred of sanity that I have left and waiting for that perfect time…

“Why did you invite him?” My voice comes out in almost a groan, my jaw clenching when Eliana laughs again at whatever he says.

“I don't see the reason why I shouldn't have. He always invites us to basketball parties, remember. Besides, Killian is a good guy. Relax, your sis will be okay.” Cillian pats my shoulder then gives it a gentle squeeze. However, it doesn't help that much.

He doesn't understand. He wouldn't understand. There are a thousand reasons and one reasons why I can't relax.

“I should get going,” I say, reaching for my phone in my pants and typing a quick text message.

“What? Are you serious? The night is still young.” Cillian reasons out, a deep frown on his face.

“I said what I said. Make sure the boys don't have too much fun,”

“Wait,” Cilian says, trying to give me a reason why I should stay but he's late because I am already on my way, heading straight to my red sports car.

__________

ELIANA

The ding of my phone pulls my mind from the conversations. I turn my attention to the screen lighting up and a message flashes across the screen.

“Car. Now. Remember the promise we made to your mom,” The text reads. Of course I remember promising my mother that we would be careful and that we wouldn't stay out till late in the night.

Damn it! I can't believe he's using the promise I made to my mother against me. My grip tightens on the phone. I raise my head to look into his direction and that's when I realise that he's walking to his car.

As though Jackson senses my eyes at the back of his head, he momentarily turns to look my way, just to make sure that I received the messages and I don't miss the subtle smirk at the corner of his lips.

I hate him.

“Everything okay?” Killian asks and I turn to look at him.

“I need to get going. I promised my mom that I wouldn't stay till late.” I briefly explain to him and he nods in understanding, “Okay, though I wish you could stay a little longer.” My lips curled into a thin smile.

“Me too. I guess next time.” I say, not so sure.

Killian offers to walk me to the car and I let him, talking about random things as he tells me about the upcoming basketball games…

We finally stop a step away from the car and I turn to look at Killian who gives me a smile, “Thank you for the dance.” I say, smiling back at him.

“The pleasure is all mine,” He responds politely. I hear a low growl from Jackson who's lazily leaning on the car.

I said the words intentionally loud because I want him to know I had so much fun just like…he did.

“Hey Jackson, good to see you. The party is…amazing. I didn't expect you to leave so soon.” Kay says, turning his gaze to Jackson.

“Well, I have something important to do. Good to see you too. I see…you had a lot of fun.” Jackson says, however, I don't miss the sarcasm in his voice.

“Yeah, you can say that.” Kay turns to look at me and I nod in support of his words.

“See you on Monday, Eli.” Killian says, his voice gentle and eyes soft, “See you.” I respond with a nod, turn around and walk to the car. Jackson opens the door for me and I get in, clicking the seatbelts into place. Jackson gets into the car short after and buckles up.

“I thought we would stay for a while. I thought you were having fun too.” My voice drips with irony, recalling how Scarlett had her hand on his lap while whispering something in his ear.

Jackson turns to look at me with a smirk, “Jealous? I thought you were having fun too.” He shrugs.

“Jealous? No way! Why would I be? I don't care who you choose to take to bed.” My chest squeezes when the words leave my mouth.
