Chapter 53

*****Dani's POV*****

Yesterday was simply put - one of the longest days I think I've ever experienced...

"Luna, you are needed in the medical room." A young guard enters the kitchen and announces, knocking me away from my thoughts as I offer Belle and Lily a nervous smile before standing.

We had all just woken up and been sent here for breakfast so we weren’t talking much yet. We all respected how tired we still were so we sat in a comfortable silence laughing occasionally at little things whilst we ate.

I take the remaining toast with me as I follow the guard down the unfamiliar hallways. I mean, I probably shouldn't be wondering around with a random guard alone in here should I?

The dark thought flashed across my mind as my anxiety crept in. I damn should have thought about that before following him… it was too late now he could be leading me anywhere!

We passed by different maids and pack members on the walk, offering me some comfort since I was certain at least one of them would be able to hear me scream If this guard turned out to be a phoney!

"In here Miss..." He gestures, offering me a bow as I force back a guilty smile and push open the door.

I enter to find Axel and Julian both stood in the white wash room offering me smiles.

Now I felt bad for thinking that poor guard was going to kill me...

"Dani take a seat on the bed!" Julian gestures with his gloved hands to the long hospital bed in the centre of the room as I gulp.

"You won't feel a thing doll honest! Remember we spoke about the teeth thing on the way here? We need to be able to mind-link... I can't settle into my work here without it." Axel explains briefly, as I slowly approach the bed with a nod.

I had never been scared of going to the dentist, but on the same note I had only been a handful of times…

"It won't take long Dani! We apologise for the sudden appointment but we decided it might be best not to tell you until now... we didn't want you to overthink such a small procedure." Julian explains, going behind me now as I lay back on the bed.

This was all happening so fast... and I was just allowing it.

Axel moved to my side, taking my hand in his - giving it a comforting squeeze.

"Um... what exactly is it you're going to do?" I try to push the sentence out, facing brief difficulty due to my sudden dry throat.

"I'll put some gel in your mouth which will numb you, then I'll sharpen two of your teeth slightly and you'll be done! It's quite simple and quick. No gas, no needles - nothing scary!" His words cause for me to relax slightly.

That didn't sound bad at all. I had prepared myself for this already when Julian suggested it in the car yesterday. I decided it was best and would make Axel happy.

"Ready?" Julian prompts as I nod and close my eyes.

"Will I put on some music to distract you?" Axel offers next and I nod thankful that he had thought of that.

"That would be nice." I state, hearing Julian shuffling around behind me for a moment before the upbeat music meets my ears.

"Ok just open your mouth." Julian asks, as I follow his order.

I give Axels hand another squeeze, just to reassure that he was still there and almost smile when he squeezes back.

"This will be cold." Julian states, before I feel the cooling gel touch my teeth and gums.

Moments passed and my mouth was completely numb to the point that I didn't know if Julian was touching my teeth or not.

"You're doing great Dani... another few minutes and you'll be done!" I hear Axel, causing me to relax slightly.

Keeping my mouth open this long was actually difficult.

"The noise sounds worse than it actually is Luna, please don't worry." Julian stares next, as I jump slightly from the sudden noise of the drill.

"You're ok I'm here!" Axel states again, distracting me by rubbing small circles on my knuckles.

I zone in on his touch, feeling the usual little tingles that I loved. I'm glad we did this whole thing sooner rather than later.

"I was thinking you could help Ivanna today?" Axel states next - distracting me further as I nod.

"All done!" I hear Julian chirp next, as the drill switches off and I open my eyes.

Was that it?

"Here's a bowl... you will need to spit the rest of the gel out and it should wear off in about thirty minutes." Julian smiles as Axel helps me sit up - offering me water.

I drink the water, spilling it slightly as it touches my numb mouth. I try my best to swirl it before spitting the remains into the bowl.

"Can I see?" I ask, wiping my mouth with a cloth.

Julian searches for a mirror, soon retrieving one from his doctor bag before handing it to me.

I open my mouth eagerly, revealing the two little sharp teeth - barely noticeable.

"I'm like a vampire now!" I state, earning an eye roll from Axel and a laugh from Julian.

"You look like a wolf doll, not a damn shitty vampire!" He grumbles, as I giggle at his demeanour.

"Thank you!" I nod to Julian, before hopping off - eager now to leave the room.

"Slow down." Axel grumbles, reaching forward to grab my hand - pulling me back to walk at his pace.

"I want to show the girls!" I state, as we head off down the hallway back towards the kitchen.

"So I'm thinking that tonight you can try to mark me?" He offers, as I nod nervously.

"Sure." I reply, hearing him laugh slightly.

"Don't overthink it, I'll help you." He smiles, as I only nod - knowing that I probably will overthink every damn detail!

"What are you doing today?" I question next, knowing he had said about me seeing Ivanna.

"I'm going with Nolan to train the men." He states as we near the kitchen.

"I won't be far, just out in the back fields of the house." He adds, giving me comfort despite him leaving me alone for the day.

"She's back!" Belle claps, as I see that the both of them are surrounded by three of the pack men who look around our age.

"Please tell me that you weren't in here eating fucking breakfast with these desperate runts?" Axel leans down to my ear and growls, causing me to tense.

I stare as Belle giggles at one of them, him smiling fondly at her in return.

"No they weren't in here when I was… it's ok." I comfort him as he still continues to glare at the young men.

"I don't think my pack warrior will be pleased with you boys hanging around his mate and his baby sister!" Axel grits, approaching the table and dragging me with him.

The three young guys instantly pale, bowing their heads in submission.

"Oh... forgive us Alpha we didn't know." One of them offers, as the others nod in agreement with his statement.

"Get outside and wait on the field!" He barks the order, before the men practically scurry outside.

Silence falls in the room as Belle angrily picks at her breakfast remains - refusing to look at anyone.

We hear a sudden throat clear, causing us to see Grey now stood by the door - his eyes zoned in on Belle specifically as he sends her daggers.

He didn't look happy...

Belle didn't offer him a glance, stabbing her fork around the plate as Lily eyed me curiously wondering what the hell was going on.

"We are heading out now, I've told Ivanna to meet you here soon." Axel kisses my head before releasing my hand from his vice grip - leaving it cold.

I watch as he exits towards the back door, followed by an extremely irritated Grey - who decides to throw Belle one last glare before he leaves.

I wait a moment, ensuring they were fully gone, before both myself and Lily snap our attention to Belle.

"Ok spill it!" I demand, as she huffs and prepares herself to rant...
