Chapter 52

*****Axels POV*****

The eye contact alone was impressive - however still wavering ever so slightly with the longer I proceeded to glare at the young man.

I studied the long scar traced from his forehead down to his chin, seeming to just miss his right eye.

"Sir, it's a pleasure!" He speaks firmly, causing one of my eyebrows to raise curiously.

If I would have known any better, I would strongly argue that this young man was from Alpha descent already.

"Your family, are they here?" I question him, ignoring his introduction.

I watch as he shifts his weight slightly before squaring himself up again.

"Yeah... I mean... not here exactly..." He trails off, seeming to struggle for an explanation.

"Come again?" I press, not having a fucking clue of what that meant.

"Well sir, the only family I have left is my younger brother and he..." He clears his throat briefly, still stood by the door - unsure of whether to come in fully or not.

"He was taken." The young man named Saul concludes as a quick sadness flashes behind his eyes.

"I see... please have a seat." I gesture with my hand, glancing over to the corner where Dani was now asleep on the small sofa.

"So what's the story with the scar?" I lean back in the chair as he straightens up again from the mention.

I could tell he was probably the only powerful figure around here with his squashing presence - however he didn't bother me by it. It was natural unlike some Alphas who try too hard and are just cocky fucks.

"The war... when they took over and took the children... I helped fight... that's also how I lost my father." He explains as I nod.

"You know... if you need men... I already have a sort of secret organisation that can help?" He offers suddenly, the idea seeming to spring to mind.

"What sort of organisation are we talking here?" I question, studying his face again for any sign of betrayal.

"We have been planning an uprising... we want this pack to be strong again... we want our children back... my brother..." The sadness comes again, before he clears his throat and watches me now for a reaction.

"Perfect. Have your people show up to training tomorrow and my lead warrior will take it from there. It seems Saul... that we both want the same thing for this pack." I explain, earning a small smile from him.

"We also need a new Alpha around here you know..." I add, watching his eyebrows shoot up slightly.

"Now Saul... correct me if I am wrong... but was your father of a high ranking before this mess occurred?" I lean on one of the arm rests - knowing the answer already.

"My Father used to be the next in line for the Beta role... but never had the chance since he was too young when the pack was overrun." He huffs out, frustrated with his fathers past fate.

"I believe the moon-goddess is offering you a chance son... a chance to be an Alpha and to take this pack forward. I believe you know yourself that you're different don't you? You're naturally stronger and smarter than the rest yes?" I smirk at the realisation as it sinks in.

"You mean... I am supposed to be the true Alpha of this pack?" He pleads with my eyes for confirmation as I nod.

"That's right." I state firmly, watching as Saul leans back in the chair closing his eyes.

I allow for a few moments of silence to pass before speaking again-

"You must battle the current Alpha this Friday. Take your rightful place as Alpha and prevent this pack from falling into the slums ever again!" I command, as his eyes widen as he nods.

"I will sir... I want to help... but are you sure it's supposed to be me?" He questions, evidently nervous now with the title.

"Do not dare doubt my decisions... and do not doubt yourself either... eat well, train hard and you shall be victorious come Friday... then we attack the mountains!" I demand, staring the boy dead in the eyes as he offers me a stern nod this time.

"Yes sir! I can do it!" He nods firmly, standing from his seat now - offering me a short smile.

I watch as he turns to exit the room, seeming to radiate passion and hunger for his newly found title.

"Oh just one thing..." I stop him at the door, as he turns back to meet my eyes.

"Your brother... what is his name?" I ponder, watching his gaze fall to the floor briefly.

"Erik sir." He states quietly.

"Do it for Erik... let's get him back!" I nod, offering him further encouragement as he grins and heads out.

I would be lying if I said I didn't like the young guy already.

Ivanna was right, he was the only one around here who seemed to have a spark left so far. His presence reeked of Alpha status - he maybe hadn't gave it much thought until now.

They took his brother... which only sweetened the deal since now... the battle was more personal.

I had no doubt in my mind that come Friday, Dillons head would be on a stick and Saul would be the rightful Alpha - which already gave me a peace of mind that the pack would be left in good hands once all this was over.

I release a heavy sigh that I wasn't aware I had been holding, before deciding it was time to get a sleep.

I headed towards Dani, lifting her up bridal style as she whines slightly and shuffles in my arms for comfort.

I head out and to one of the spare rooms that had been prepared for us, before placing her under the fresh white sheets.

Today had been easy. We came in, took over, locked up the Alpha, discovered the basics of what was actually going on around here, found a witch who might potentially help us and to top it off we've found the rightful Alpha to the pack all in one night.

Success so far.

But one thing I couldn't shift was the missing children.

Why did they take them away?

I can only imagine the pain and heartache this pack has felt for years... I couldn't help but allow for the guilt to settle in.

It was my fault.

I was too busy living in my own bubble - miserable that I didn't have a mate - that I let this shit happen.

Enough is enough and I will destroy everyone who played a part in this.

The King is fucking back for good this time!
