Mental health Hospital
Mental health Hospital
Evelyn's Point of View
The house looks like an elephant has stepped in; the furniture was scattered on the floor, chairs were broken into two, the couches’ fabrics were ripped apart, and broken glasses were scattered on the floor.
Scanning around the room, my gaze fell on her. She's seated in the corner of the room, her knees raised, her head resting between her legs, and her frame shaking.
I swallowed the painful lump forming in my throat. This is what I've been dreading. I didn't want to see her shattering like this; I hated seeing her like that. She didn't deserve it all.
“Evelyn—”
My voice was barely above a whisper; she jerked her head up, snapping her gaze to me. Her face was marred by black and fresh wounds, her eyes red with tears streaming down her cheeks.
“Don't—don't come closer…” Her voice is trembling with fear.
“Evelyn, don't be scared of me. I won't do anything to harm you…”
I took a step closer to her only to halt.
Shit!
She grabbed the knife on the floor and pointed it right at me.
“You stay away from me! I know you came here to force yourself on me. I won't allow you. Don't come any closer…”
Words poured out of her. Her hands trembled. Tears welling up in her eyes.
The muscles in my stomach hardened. She'd slipped into the darkness of her sorrow; her guards are up, and she'd do anything to feel safe. Everyone had become a threat to her, including me.
“Get away from here!”
The sounds of her screams echoed into the silent room, laced with desperation. Agony. A deep-seated pain.
She had been living a lie; she thought she had escaped the clutches of her past and that she'd heal, but she didn't. The pain never goes away; it stays away for a few seconds, lets you forget about it, and convinces you that it is over, and when you least expect it, it comes back with all its might. It drives you to the brink of madness because you don't actually know how to deal with it or make it a part of you.
“Evelyn, please don't do this… Please allow me to come closer to you; I promise I won't do anything to harm you.”
My voice is soft, as I try hard to reassure her.
I couldn't blink twice as she sprang to her feet; without a warning, she sprinted past me, leading out of the room.
Without wasting time, I ran after her, but as soon as I stepped out, there was no way to be seen.
“Where is she?”
I asked the guards at the entrance.
“Who are you talking about, Sir?”
One of the guards asked, confused.
“Evelyn?”
He shook his head. “No one left the premises, sir.”
I run my hands through my hair, trying hard to control my emotions. I hated seeing her in such a condition; she's lost herself completely.
“Arthur, where did Evelyn go?”
I snapped my attention to Melinda, who had just stepped out of the house along with Jad, Dave, and a group of my men.
“She ran out of the house, but I don't know where she went. She didn't leave the premises though. “
I forced words out of my mouth.
The sharp pang in my chest was too much to bear. I'd rather die than see her in such a condition.
Melinda covered her face with her hands and burst into sobs.
“She's broken, and that video made it worse… She's hallucinating about things that happened a long time ago!”
She cracked with emotions, a pain she couldn't hold back.
I blinked the tears that threatened to burst out of my eyes. Because of that woman, my Evelyn is suffering; it felt as though what I did to her wasn't enough.
“I think we should call people from the mental health hospital…”
I balled my hand into a tight fist at Jad’s word. There's no way I'm going to send my wife to a mental health hospital. There's no fucking way.
“Arthur, I'm not saying it in the wrong way, but if she doesn't get professional help, she'll harm herself. All of us here tried to control her, and we couldn't. If you love her, you need to do what's good for her; don't let your emotions cloud your judgment.
Jad patted my shoulder gently. His words are now ringing in my ears more than they should.
Evelyn doesn't deserve any of it—she doesn't deserve all this pain; none of this was her fault. All she did was dare to survive, but this cruel world wouldn't let her. Not even one single day of peace…
All of us began searching for her; the flickering torches became our eyes on the dark night. We searched the whole house, but we couldn't find her. The people from the mental health hospital had already arrived, but we couldn't find her anywhere.
Just when we were about to give up, my gaze caught a small frame curled into a ball in the garage.
“Evelyn!”
My voice was barely above a whisper. She jerked to her feet at the sound of my voice; she instinctively pointed a knife in my direction.
“Stay away from me!! Stay away!! “
She shuffled a step back, but this time I won't let her run away; she should know that I'm her husband and I won't do anything to harm her.
“Evelyn, trust me. I won't do anything to harm you…”
I walked to her, and she took a step back until her back collided with the wall.
“Please stay away from me; don’t harm me, please!!”
Tears streamed down her face, her whole being trembling. I swallowed hard, moved closer to her, and pulled her into a tight embrace.
The sounds of her screams echoed as she tried to shrug out of my embrace.
“Stay away from me; you came to force yourself on me!! Stay away, please stop… I can't bear it any longer; stop!! Leave me, don't touch me!! “
Evelyn screamed even louder, trying to push me away from her.
