Chapter 95
"Please, Grandma... I beg you, let them go. I'll be good. I won't disobey you again, "Crystal begged on her knees while her eyes filled up with tears.
The Priestess looked at Crystal with disgusted and disappointed eyes. "You've already let me down! If you weren't related to me, I would have killed you a long time ago because you made me feel bad."
Crystal's heart was cut and crushed by a blade, but she did not give up. "Grandma, I've been good since I was a child... Nothing was asked of me... Right now–"
Crystal was on her knees when the Priestess stood up and faced her. "And what gives you the right to ask me?! Have you forgotten, Crystal, that I gave you everything? But you just got rid of it! And what for? You let a man have me."
Crystal grabbed her grandmother's dress by the hem. "Grandma, I didn't. Even though I was tempted at first, I chose you in the end."
"Enough! Stand there—time it's to decide! "As she turned around, the Priestess said something coldly. "Since Lyca's location is still unknown, there is a good chance that you will be chosen, but if not, I still have an ace..."
"Anything else?" What's the meaning? Crystal wanted to know. Then she looked at her grandmother and followed her. "Her mood is better, even though she knows I don't have much chance of winning the title...

Everyone in the village wore a white dress, and flowers were put on their heads. Also eye-catching is the art that has been drawn on different parts of their faces.
"I have no doubt that Crystal will be the new Priestess!" One dancer in the plaza said something.
"I thought that before, but I heard that Arianna's daughter came and is now taking part!"
"Really? Even though she didn't grow up in our convent, the Priestess still let her join."
She just gave a shrug. "If this girl is strong, the Priestess can't stop her from joining because she has power."
"You're right, though... This time, the new Priestess to be chosen is special, so our leader can't ignore the possibility that Arianna's daughter is the millennial child we're waiting for."
[These are just some of the things the villager talks about while waiting for the participants to come out.]
People from the village quickly gathered in the big yard of the castle. Their laughter and shouting turned into music, and one hand held a torch that lit up the whole place.
Their focus is on the first floor, which was built for this festival. In the middle is a big fire pit with twelve chairs around it.
Soon, the Priestess's servants came out one by one, led by a woman whose face was covered by a black veil.
"Wow!!" The villagers praised their leader with loud shouts.
"I can't wait to see everyone there!"
"Huh! I'm even more excited now! The power will flow from our new Priestess!"
This was what everyone thought. Once the new Priestess is chosen, each member of the covenant will be given special powers.
"Good night, other witches... I'm glad you're all here to see the most important thing to happen in our covenant's history." When the Priestess started talking, everyone stopped what they were doing to listen and pay their respects.
"As you all know, our party started early because of a surprise, but you can hope this won't change our election!" The Priestess said this with a confident smile on her face.
[Everyone in the room cheers and claps.]
"That's why I won't talk for long; here are the beautiful women who want to be the next Priestess and guardian of our covenant!"
After this comment, the people came out of the castle one at a time, all wearing red dresses and covering their faces with red veils. Everyone walked over to the chair by the fire and sat down.
"What's happening? Why is one not there?"
"I wonder who she is."
"Can we find out who Arianna's daughter is?"
[These are some of the questions that the Priestess heard.]
"I'm afraid to tell my fellow witches about the change that took place. Arianna's daughter canceled at the last minute, so the seat that was supposed to be hers will be empty..."
People were talking and arguing loudly, and most of them were upset because they knew Arianna was the strongest witch in their group.
The Priestess didn't like how people were acting around her, but she couldn't show her anger, so she clenched her fists tightly. "Don't worry, we're looking for one of these beautiful things... And I'm sure that after the new Priestess is named, the next thing we'll be waiting for is her child with the curse prince!"
"But we heard the curse prince decline, so how will the children of our new Priestess be born?" one of the witches watching dared to ask.
"That is not true... The Prince of Curses is in our country, so don't be afraid or doubtful. Soon, the child who will save us will be born, and we will rise to eternal wealth."
"If the curse prince is here, why isn't he here to watch the selection?"
Everyone needs to know the answer to this question. So, the Priestess clenched her fists again before turning to look at her servant.
A few of them went into the castle, and it was a few minutes before they came back.
"Let me introduce you to Curse Prince Xavier Nightingale, the king of the Kingdom of Nightingale!" The Priestess spoke loudly with her hands spread out.
"Let me go!" Xavier screamed as he tried to get his arms out of the tight hold on them.
The Priestess went up to Xavier and spoke quietly.
"Do you still want to say something? But none of your friends are... If you stir up trouble today, I'll make sure those two end up in a pit..."
Xavier glared at the Priestess, but he had to stay still to save the lives of Jaxson and Kai. "You think you'll be successful? You won't be able to do what you want to do! I'd rather die than bend! "He yelled.
When Xavier walked on stage, everyone cheered. So, the Priestess waited until everyone had stopped cheering before she spoke. "We can start looking for our new Priestess now!"
