167 Run, Elizabeth, run!
**Dylan's POV**
*
My whole body trembled, and my heart almost jumped out of my mouth. There were so many things I wanted to say to her, but now I couldn't say a single word.
Isabella's eyes looked full of sadness. She didn't say a word either.
To my surprise, her eyes crossed over to me, and looked somewhere near the altar.
I followed her line of sight, and I saw Elizabeth.
I was surprised to find that Elizabeth's body was glowing, and she was emitting the same holy white light as Isabella. What shocked me, even more, was that there were pieces of light, like flower petals flying out from Elizabeth's body.
Those petal-like light balls slowly flew into Isabella's body as I watched, forming part of her soul. Eventually, the complete Isabella's soul was formed.
I was confused and shocked.
Why? Why were there pieces of Isabella's soul in Elizabeth's body?
Could it be that the other half of Isabella's soul is in Elizabeth? But why?
Confused, I looked over at Isabella and noticed that she seemed to be trying to say something to me.
She couldn't make a sound, but she spoke with a mouth shape like, " Set me free."
No! There's no way Isabella would want to leave me! I must have misunderstood what she said!
I couldn't help but try to grab her hand, but I couldn't successfully touch her. She was just a spirit, she had no body.
She looked at me sadly, shook her head slowly, and pleaded with me, " Let me go."
"No! Isabella! I love you! I want to be with you forever!"
Isabella shook her head, tears flowed from her eyes, and she reached out her hand, but instead of trying to hold my hand, she turned toward Elizabeth.
At the same time, it was as if she wanted to break the shackles of the Pentacle.
"Isabella, what are you trying to do?"
"Let me go!" Isabella said, trying hard to escape from this altar.
Both she and I were glued to the altar so tightly that neither of us could move.
I don't know why Isabella wanted to go to Elizabeth's side, everything was beyond my expectations. Isabella didn't show the joy of reuniting with me after a long time, she just wanted to leave.
I was so deep in grief that I didn't notice that danger was approaching me. As a dagger pierced my back, the Pentacle's light faded, and I fell to the ground.
Looking up, I saw Beta's smug smile.
"Your power has finally been drained. I have waited for this day for a long time. My honored Alpha, did you ever think you would one day lose to me?"
Beta said as he stabbed the dagger into my chest again.
It hurt. But I didn't care about him. My eyes were glued to Isabella.
I saw Isabella rushing towards Elizabeth. The moment they touched, Isabella and Elizabeth merged into one.
Isabella's soul entered Elizabeth's body of its own accord, then Elizabeth let out a scream and woke up.
"Isabella!" I shouted towards Elizabeth and spat out a mouthful of blood.
She heard my call and turned her head to look at me.
"Isabella! Is that you?" I didn't care about the dagger that Beta stabbed into my chest as I struggled to crawl towards her, "Isabella, is that you? Have you come back to life?"
Once again, she shook her head at me.
"I am Elizabeth. I have told you many times, I am Elizabeth. I will never be Isabella's substitute."
Her words hit me like a bolt of lightning.
I had seen Isabella's soul enter Elizabeth's body, but Isabella did not replace Elizabeth.
Why would this be?
Suddenly, a guess arose in my mind.
Is there a possibility that Isabella and Elizabeth are the same one?
All kinds of evidence indicate that this sea and valley contained only half of Isabella's soul. Ten thousand years have passed, and the other half of Isabella's soul has probably been reincarnated.
And Elizabeth, most likely, is the reincarnation of the other half of Isabella's soul. This explains why Elizabeth and Isabella look exactly alike, and she can breathe under water.
I was trembling with excitement at the possibilities I had come up with. But I can't speak now. Blood kept pouring out of my mouth and nose.
How foolish I was! The person I missed the most had been there for me for a long time, and I kept hurting her.
I could feel my life running out. I wasn't afraid of dying, I was just sorry I wouldn't be able to see her again.
I crawled as hard as I could toward Elizabeth. Just as I reached out to touch the hem of Elizabeth's dress, she avoided my hand and walked toward the beta.
"Can I leave now?"
Beta smiled, "Yes, you've done your job well. Thanks to you taking away his protective scale, I was able to hurt him.
Now that his power is exhausted, all the forbidden spells he set before will gradually fail. You can leave now."
"That's great."
Hearing their conversation, I realized that they had conspired to deal with me.
But I didn't care about that.
I only noticed that Elizabeth smiled. She smiled so beautifully. In all the time I've known her, this is the first time I've seen her show such a beautiful smile.
I should have done more to make her happy before, to make her fall in love with me, instead of making her hate me and want to kill me.
"What will you do with him?" Elizabeth asked the beta.
My desperate heart felt warm again. Does this mean Elizabeth still cares about me?
Beta said, "I haven't decided yet. Maybe just kill him. Or kill him after he apologizes to everyone. It's not up to me to decide. A lot of people hate him."
"Do you have any good advice? Or do you not want him dead?" The beta asked the question I wanted to ask as well.
Elizabeth met my eyes, and she immediately turned her head away, "No, I don't have any advice. I don't care about him. Do what you want. I'm leaving."
Even though I didn't get the answer I wanted, I was happy to see Elizabeth's back as she left. As long as Elizabeth was happy and alive, I was content.
Her friend, the fire wolf, was waiting for her on the beach.
Her husband, the dwarf king, was searching for her in the valley.
Her child is healthy and growing in her womb.
After my death, she will surely live a happy life, and there will be many people to love her, protect her, and accompany her instead of me.
I can die without any worries.
Suddenly, an evil whisper rang out next to my ear, "I won't kill you so soon. You've tortured us for so many years, and I'm going to make you feel the same pain. You like that bitch, don't you? Don't blink, or you'll miss the image of me killing her."
With that, Beta pulled the dagger from my chest. His fierce gaze went to Elizabeth's back.
I instantly realized what Beta was trying to do. He wanted to kill the person I loved most and put me in pain as revenge.
No!
The very moment Beta stood up with his dagger, I grabbed his orange tail with all my might.
"Run, Elizabeth, run!" I yelled as I spat blood.
Elizabeth turned around and saw that I was clinging to Beta's tail while Beta was holding the blood-stained dagger in his hand.
I don't know if Elizabeth realized the danger was closing in on her. She hadn't heard what Beta had just whispered to me. She didn't know that Beta was going to kill her.
Beta was not a trustworthy partner, and he had no intention of letting Elizabeth go. He was even more cruel than I had thought.
"Run, Elizabeth, run!"
"Run!"
I shouted as hard as I could, hoping that Elizabeth would trust me. Please. Trust me one last time.
"Run!"
Beta stabbed me in the back with the dagger once again, and I felt no pain at all.
Elizabeth, you must run away quickly!
"Elizabeth! Run!"
**Elizabeth's POV**
*
It's so weird.
I worked with Beta to defeat Dylan, but why is Dylan acting like he's protecting me?
I definitely don't trust Dylan. He's a ruthless, cruel demon in my mind.
But the scene where he told me to run away brought me back to the way my mom told me to run away ten years ago.
Everything was exactly the same as that day.
Dylan was holding the beta's tail like my mom was holding the rogue's legs. The beta was holding a dagger, just like the rogue, looking at me with murderous intent in his eyes.
Before my brain could think rationally, my legs were automatically running.
After running a few steps, I realized that I was in the water and I could swim. So I swam out with the help of my dress at a speed several times faster than I could run.
My original plan was to go to the treasure spot to retrieve the necklace, ring, and feather before leaving the sea. But due to the unexpected event, I could only leave the sea as fast as I could.
I swam vertically upstream, and the faster I swam, the brighter my surroundings became, and I knew I was not far from the surface.
Suddenly, I felt a pain in my left leg.
Looking down, I found that my left leg had been pierced by a sharpened fish bone, and blood was pouring out of the wound.
Behind me, there were a dozen Mermen, all holding bows and shooting at me with arrows made of fish bones.
Damn it! Dylan hadn't lied to me, I was in real danger!
I didn't have time to think about who told these Mermen to kill me, I could only ignore the pain and swim upstream as soon as possible.
But my speed was slowed down by the injury to my left leg. I could hear countless arrows flying out through the water beside me. If I didn't dodge, these arrows would pierce my body.
I could only dodge while swimming upstream. In the panic, I had completely lost my way. I wanted to swim to the beach near the forbidden valley, but I thought I might be farther and farther away from the direction of the forbidden valley now.
Just as I was exhausted, an arrow came toward my abdomen.
I watched as the arrow came closer and closer to my belly, but I couldn't avoid it, and I let out a desperate growl.
The moment the arrow touched my belly, something magical happened. My belly emitted a blinding white light. It was as if a solid barrier had formed on the surface of my belly, and it blocked the arrow's entry.
Those Mermen who were chasing me were stunned. And although I was also shocked, there were few things more important than escape.
I suddenly had strength again and swam faster toward the front, and soon lost them.
I don't know how long it took, my feet touched the sand.
I think I have come to the shore. Mermen can not walk on the shore. But I didn't dare to stop. I still ran forward wildly.
I ran and ran and ran until I was exhausted, and I collapsed to the ground and passed out.
In a daze, I seemed to see a group of people coming toward me.
"Look, there's a female here! She's pregnant!"
