Chapter 69: Shocks are Unexpected

“Where are you going?” Kate curtly asks as she glares at Drake while he searches for his clothes in the wardrobe,

“I have to catch up with James.” Drake hurriedly replied as he left the wardrobe after picking up the black jean shirt he preferred to wear while he continued to explain,

“We were supposed to meet at the circle tonight, but I screw up!”

Drake replied as he hastily gets in his black Jean shirt and grabs his white and red all-stars from the shoe rack while he untie the shoelace, accordingly putting his left foot in the left shoe and immediately tying up the shoelace.

Kate was watching him as he moves around in the room but suddenly sat on the bed they had slept together to knit his shoelace and she demanded,

“So what about me, about us?” she requested as she fold her arm in an interrogative manner,

“ I will be back before you know it,

I promise you!”

Drake placed a quick gentle kiss on Kate's lips and left the room straight to the exit door while Kate followed him.

He got to the door and slightly opened the door but on the verge of leaving, Kate was still standing close to him while she grimace her face like a little kitty cat and he pecks her on the spot of her cheek in other to cheer her up and he left the door.

Drake had taken a U-turn that exited from the road that leads to his house.

In just a few drives he saw James's car on the roadside parked, and in his awe, he wonder what might have happened and the reason James had stopped there, so he quickly parked and get down from his truck.

James was standing beside his car as he stood there uprightly, folding his arms like he had been expecting Drake while he cross his legs like a model as he rest his back on his car,

The minute, Drake step out of his truck and walked a bit to James's car, he asked Drake

“What took you so long menh?” James asked in an angry tone,

Drake smirked as he passively smile at James to calm his friend because he knew his smile is his friend's stupid button of forgiveness.

James knew Drake wants to take advantage of him by smiling and he tried so hard not to get tainted with Drake's smile and he curtly groan,

“Don't give me that look!

I don't see any reason why you can't stay away from that girl,

but that's not the reason,

The reason I came to your place was, I was waiting for you and your number was no-”

“I'm sorry man!

Can we go now!” Drake calmly requests,

James' feelings were averted a few seconds later after Drake had asked for forgiveness and both friends started giggling while they playfully box their selves.

James entered his car and Drake entered while driving along one after the other they got to circle.

Drake and James were late already, and the moment they entered they complete the circle because they were the ones remaining for the circle to be completed.

He stares at Drake with hatred that James could notice his eyes all over Drake but James had to gulp his saliva as he zips his thought out of the fight between both brothers.

Meanwhile, the chief in charge of the circle has not begun the meeting which was gain for Drake and James that they were not really late, but after a few seconds after they enclose the circle the chief turned and all bowed before him,

“We have come to the 7th meeting of the full moon.

Duke step forward and kneel before the chief and the chief yelled,

Instantly the iron was placed on Duke's neck side he cried out loudly in a high tone that the cry of Duke's agony affected James to scowl his face like he wants to cry too.

After a few more seconds, the iron was taken out from Duke's body and the able body men carried his side.

Today was actually James's first time witnessing such a scenario and in his mind, he was praying not to encounter anything that will bring him into such a situation,

James was still chewing words in his mind when heard he his call,

“James!”

He step forward and knelt and a child at the age of six years walked in holding a tray covered with black cotton but the shining gold necklace could be seen.

As the young child into the presence, she move close to the chief and he picked the gold necklace from the child's tray and announced,

“By the order of King Dehira, I put this token before you,”

And he wore James the necklace.

James had bowed his head and the necklace was worn on him, still kneeling but shortly after the chief returned to his seat James stood up and walked backward to his previous spot.

Few minutes later the meeting ended, Drake was sad about Duke's penalty and James had noticed his awful mood while he tried igniting a chat to avert Drake's mood

The two friends walked to their various cars after James had lightened Drake's mood a bit, it was a quick fuse when he remember and said,

“Hey!, you remember your long-lost friend, ” James passively stammered while trying to organize his words and he said,

“What's her name?

Ummh??” James was still recalling and Drake was out of patience waiting for him and he hopped into his truck while James yelled

Yeah, I remember now,

“Zena!”

The minute James mentions Zena, Drake went into surprised.
