CHAPTER FIVE

CHAPTER FIVE
Kael's POV

Aria arrived at the apartment earlier than I expected. As I watch her every step, I couldn't help myself but feel a strong connection to her. I don't know why I keep having to catch myself every time I look at her.

I could not even take my gaze off her as she walked towards me and got distracted by the interior design of my house.

For the first time, I realized I must have done something really good in the apartment because she seemed very impressed by the interior design.

“Let's go to the analysis room.” I cleared my throat, cutting into the long silence after I said I could make her live with me.

“Sure. After you.” She responded almost immediately.

I lead her to the room, knowing she's not well prepared for what she's about to meet.

I had a friend and an analyst, sitting in the room already, Frank.

He stood up as I walked in to acknowledge our presence.

I made room so Frank and Aria could meet and I could introduce them properly to themselves. Although Frank was already well informed about who Aria was.

“Yeah, this is Aria,” I said, gesturing to Aria with a smile on my face, before turning to Aria. “This is Frank. He has been working on the case from the beginning and has gotten us enough data as proof. His proofs are majorly beneficial to you anyway.”

Aria smiled and stretched her hands to Frank. “It's nice to meet with you. I hope we can have a productive time.” She said,

Frank and I laughed almost immediately, making Aria look at us, confused.

She didn't know we already did the productive things for her, and she was just being invited to get a look at it and decide on what she would be doing moving forward.

“I'm lost. Is there something I do not understand?” She said, trying to laugh along with us.

“It's just that there's nothing more here for you to work on. We've done all the work you'd ever need to do before you even came. So it's quite funny.” I said, walking over to the table to arrange the file.

Frank just sat back in his chair.

“You may move closer and have your seat,” I said to Aria, who kept looking around. I'm suspicious, like we were planning to do something to her, which she's unsure of, that she will be interested in.

“Take a look at what we found. Did you know you were making more money than you thought while you changed the system of money inflow in the company?” I asked Aria.

Her eyes expanded, and she squinted them as though I didn't know what I was saying, or she was hearing things wrongly.

“How's that possible? We have everything under check, and I knew what we were making then. It wasn't even enough to keep many things running in the company, hence why we had to cut down on other groups.” Aria said, ensuring she justified the inquisitive work she put into the company, which I could never deny her.

“Look,” I turned a file from my side of the table to hers, pointing at a particular account. “Do you recognize this account?”

Aria took a closer look at the file over and over, before she finally said, “I think I know this account. It's the one we use in running our logistics. But… It's never possible that his amount of money is entering this account, this frequently. I'm always in charge of when money is disbursed into the account as well. There must be a mistake somewhere.”

“Agreed,” I said to her. “But do you know that this account is the only account that the company doesn't really have any significant assessment of because of how random the use of it is?”

Aria nodded, and I loved as she began to take a closer look at the file in front of her.

“So this account has been used to embezzle funds from the company because it's not an account that's on the list of our monthly assessments.” Aria nodded slowly as she began to check all the transaction histories. “Who could have done this? How can people be this wicked?”

“It's the one person who always had access to it and you trusted so much that has been taking money from you and watching you almost come to a crash but still didn't stop,” I said plainly, hoping she would get who it was.

She shook her head in disbelief. “My former P.A.?” She scoffed. “She did that to me for what reason? She did that to me, knowing fully well how hard I worked and how much debt I had to pay, but would still choose to pay the fees of my staff first. How could she have done something this terrible?”

It's clear Aria was pissed at that point. It's just bad that she was pissed at the wrong person, and I did not know if she would even be willing to accept who was really behind all that.

“How does this have anything to do with the leaked case, tho?” She asked.

“I never said it was your former P.A., who did all of that to you. With the little time I've worked with her, I don't think she's that wicked to do something as terrible as that to you. Perhaps she could be an accomplice anyway. I didn't even know she had access to the account.” I said to clear the burning hatred she was beginning to show for her P.A.

Frank stood up and walked over to the wall. “You asked an incredible question there. How do all these transactions relate to the leaked case? We were able to trace the accounts that the money from this bank has been going to for the past two years, and we were able to link that same account to the guy who put out the news. He received a share of money from the company to expose the company.”
