CHAPTER FIFTY ONE

CHAPTER FIFTY ONE
Aria's POV

I didn't expect Kael to still act all nice to me because all this could have been avoided from becoming a big deal if I had told him before he bought the company. But he bought the company without my full support anyway, so he wasn't patient enough to get this information from me.

I opened the lunch bag he had handed to me and took out the box. I was hungry, I had been all day, but there was still something about the way the meal was packed that made me more interested in filling my mouth with every piece of it.

I gulped a little bit of water first before I started to devour the meal. It was filling and I finished everything in the blink of an eye.

The drive was longer than I had expected. I wondered why we didn't make use of airplane.

Due to the fact that the office was under investigation, our staff were not allowed to resume work yet, so I was aware that things were spiralling up.

We arrived at my office the following morning, and I had slept almost all through the ride, aside from when I was eating. I didn't have much strength to stay awake, and that's more because I had been on the move.

My phone was handed back to me, but I did not check it because I was scared to know what kind of messages awaited me. I didn't want to read more messages that made me feel less of a human from both unknown individuals and known individuals.

“Ma'am,” the sergeant addressed me nicely after opening the door for me to come down.

Now that was all thanks to how good Kael treated me as well.

“Thank you,” I said and got down.

Despite it being less than forty-eight hours after the crash down of the problem, so many things seem to have changed. The company's lockdown seemed as though it might never be open again as we quietly walked into it.

People had thrown stones through the gates of the company and had broken some of our glasses.

I felt really bad seeing the shape it was in and the amount of repair we would have to do to both the physical structures of the business and the repair of social relationships as well.

We walked into the company and headed immediately to my room.

There was a specific reason why I made it that the key to the record room is kept in my room, and anyone who wanted to access it needed permission before they could.

Even when Kael became the CEO, that was the only thing I didn't give took for him to change or have much autonomy over, and that could be the reason why he doesn't trust me much.

Aside from the evidence of those transactions, that room also contained important documents of how we built the company and many sensitive documents.

I went to open my safe and took out the key that leads to the record.

Then I led the soldiers to the Record room.

On getting there, I was trying to insert my key into the keyhole when the doorknob and the keyhole came out and fell to the ground.

Someone had jacked the door before we arrived.

The Serge moved me aside and assessed the door, “This was done some minutes back. We were a little late. We could have caught the person, or the person might still be around, somewhere.”

They immediately spread out to check the building to see if they would find anyone lurking around the building, but they found no one.

My heart raced. I didn't want to go in at all.

I walked into the room nonetheless and found that all the evidence of documents I kept for that case was gone.

Something broke in my heart, figuring that. I didn't know what was going on anymore. I looked around the room like I could feel someone watching me closely, aside from the soldiers. I also felt dizzy. I couldn't explain all the emotions that went through my veins.

“Are you fine, ma?” One of the soldiers asked me.

I placed my hand on my forehead and leaned on the shelf where I kept the document for that case.

“The file, it's all gone. It's been cleared out.” For the first time, I felt like someone who couldn't find their towel after a bath. Like, there was shame looming ahead of me. “Someone took the file. I kept it here,” I said, tapping the shelf where I had kept it.

Serge called Kael immediately to inform him about it.

“Code 311, Yes, sir!”

I couldn't hear a thing that Kael said, but I could figure out what he must have said for Serge to respond the way he did.

“No file.”

“It might be a case of a breach. We met the door jacked.”

“Yes, sir!”

“Yes, sir!”

The Serge spoke with few words, making it hard to even have an idea of what exactly he was being told.

“Yes, sir!” He yelled, accompanied by a salute.

I wondered if that was necessary since the person he was speaking to wasn't even present.

The call ended, and I walked up to him and asked eagerly, “What did he say?”

“We will be leading you back home now, and he said you should remain careful.” He said to me, and looked away immediately, “Let's move.” He said to the rest of the soldiers with him.

They walked me out of the building and accompanied me to my own house.

I didn't know if it was fully a house arrest or if I could go out to Miranda's and Rose’s apartment, or if I would just have to stay put.

They helped me down and stopped just in front of my gate.

“We will be coming to give you feedback and ask questions. It will be good if you remain at home till the investigation is over.” The Serge says. Walking away.

“Look who's here?”
