RUSSO EL MASSIMO
As much as I wanted to hold Rosaline back, as much as I wanted to remind her that she had no right to put an end to this, that she had given up that right to me sometime ago, I could not do that.
The tears that poured down her cheeks, the pain in her voice and that sad quiver from her body. I couldn't bear to see more of that from her.
She couldn't go any further than we had come and I understood her. It would only be reasonable to end this right here. Logically, it would be the best for the both of us to end it and part ways, live separate lives but it seemed as if logic had vanished from my head for Caramia.
Perhaps I should have been the adult right from the beginning. I could have saved her from the pains she was going through right now.
I hated it. I hated seeing her cry and I hated that look of pure frustration on her face. That look that clearly wished she had never agreed to this, that looks that cemented her earlier words of regret.
She regretted everything.
"Russo" I groaned my own name. I didn't like this emotion in me right now. I didn't like how much I wanted to hold her back, I didn't like how much I wanted to cuff her down until she admitted that she had not meant any of her words.
Yet, I had hurt her enough. This started because of me, in the first place. If it hadn't been for my own lust, I would never have touched her that night I returned and all the events that followed would not have happened. She would not have been drawn into this web of wanting me and having to do away with me.
I had been selfish enough. All these while, I had not thought enough about how this would turn out for Caramia. But I could see it now and there was no point denying that the farther this goes, the worst it would be for her.
I wasn't going to let her hurt anymore than she already was. And so, I was going to contain this wild feeling of wanting to hold her back. I was going to keep it in neck and set Caramia free.
"You called for me sir" a maid appeared behind me.
"Get my painting room and the painting tools ready."
"Yes sir."
The Next Day
ROSALINE
I was in my office, getting myself busy with work. I wasn't going to miss a day at work after the leave I took earlier. Doing so would be me getting very lazy with my job and it would be unfair to the other employees too.
Anyways, I really needed to work to get things off my mind too. Crying myself to sleep and feeling sad when I woke up was not the way to go. Working was helping me take everything off my mind even though it lasted only for a few minutes each time.
When I got immersed in the work, I would forget it but it would only last for a minute or two before I felt a lump in my throat.
"Ah" I sighed softly and glanced at the time.
There was a meeting that was going to be in a few minutes. I really wanted to skip the meeting though because Russo would also be at this meeting but again, I didn't want to abandon any of my duties.
I was going to focus on just myself, live a good life, try to have fun sesh from Russo and love my life without him.
I gulped down hard with the thoughts of that and pulled myself up to my feet.
'Is this going to be resolved in the end or is this really the end?' the question suddenly popped up in my head.
"It is really the end this time. Really." I replied the question loudly before picking up a few things for the meeting.
I walked out of my office and headed towards the meeting room. Soon, I arrived at the meeting room and I was more than glad when I didn't see Russo in the meeting room. It wasn't a meeting we couldn't have without him so I was glad that the meeting was going to hold without me having to see him.
I exchanged polite greetings with a few people before taking my seat. The meeting was going to start in a minute.
But just then, the doors opened and he walked in. My heart suddenly started pounding in my chest as our eyes met but only for a second before he broke the eye contact.
I lowered my gaze to my laps as he made his way to his seat, each steps commanding authority.
My heart continued pounding and my palms turned sweaty.
"The meeting may commence."
The meeting started but I couldn't focus, at all. My distraction was way worse than the day he had me wearing vibrating panties.
I couldn't hear a word that was being said. I bit down hard on my lower lips, cursing myself quietly and urging myself not to look at him or at his face.
I couldn't feel his gaze on me either. And when j was unable to resist the urge anymore, I looked towards him as naturally as I could. He wasn't looking at me at all and he seemed very much focused on what was being discussed.
I found myself staring at him for longer than I intended to. He looked completely unbothered by what had happened yesterday.
Maybe I really was the only one affected by it. Maybe to Russo, it was really about the sex only and having me by his side as his family. It was never anything more to him so it was easy for him to fall back to the position of being an uncle. He could get sex anywhere else anyways and that would be easy for him.
I know it was stupid but I had really wanted to see him be slightly affected by yesterday. I had wanted to see him appear a little bit out of character but no, he was as perfect as any other day.
There was a tap in front of me and that got me out of my reverie.
"Y-yes?" I looked away from him quickly.
"Do you have something to say, Miss. Massimo?" His voice brought my gaze back to him.
"You have been staring for quite a while" he added and I clenched my fists.
"I have nothing to say" my voice sounded weak and I hated it.
"I am sorry I stared too long. Let's go on with the meeting" I forced out a smile before immediately looking back at my laps.
All throughout the meeting, I couldn't raise my head up and I didn't think I had any reason to. I wasn't listening to what anyone was saying and I didn't want to get too tempted to look at him again so I kept my head down all through.
The meeting came to an end and I was quick to pack up and hurry out of the meeting room. My heart hurt and even my head hurt at the point but this was the best option. This was the best way to go.
