Chapter Seventy Four

Chapter Seventy Four
Elliot

Lincoln was going a little over the top.

It’s been two weeks since the new threat came in and while I understood his worry and concern, I don’t think it requires for each of us to have three bodyguards constantly with us everywhere we go. It was becoming a huge hindrance at school. Especially since it was grabbing major attention all over campus.

“Ugh, this is insane. They need to hurry the hell up and find out who the sick twisted asshole is so we can resume our lives back into a normal peaceful manner.” Cameron moans as he lays his head down on his desk.

“I for one am glad about it. Just the thought of someone out there wanting to hurt any of us, especially our babies, is scary.” Tristan gently rubs his fully rounded belly that was no longer easy to hide.

He was due soon, nearly less than a month. In fact, he could go into labor any day now. And while that concerned Axel greatly and wanted him to start his maternity leave sooner than usual, Tristan declined stating he felt more safer with us and not all alone at home.

“I would rather have my water break at the school or café. At least there I’ll be surrounded by family who are with me.”

“We can have my birth father stay with us until you have the baby. Or we can move in the mansion-” Axel started to argue but Tristan raised his hand to get him to stop.

“No, Axel. I won’t upend your mother’s and sister’s lives just for my sake. This is how I want it.” He states stubbornly.

“Ugh, of all the times to be hardheaded and stubborn!” He walked out at that point and while Tristan felt bad, he didn’t relent.

I understood Axel’s worry, but I also understood where Tristan was coming from. He had been literally kidnapped from his own home. So, of course the thought of staying there all by himself was making him nervous.

“They’re all staring again.” Cameron mumbles as we walk out of the classroom to head for our next ones. We didn’t have all the classes together, so it was always a bit depressing to separate during those times.

I look sideways to see what he was talking about. Of course they were. We had three hulking bodyguards each, making nine of them just following us, suspiciously looking around at everyone. It was bound to draw attention. I’m sure this wasn’t Lincoln’s objective, sometimes he tends to forget that having too much attention was just as bad as having no protection at all. I knew I was going to need to talk to him about this. It was unsettling us and it was unsettling the people we had to come in contact with.

“I don’t understand why the dean had to agree to this crap. I get one bodyguard each but three? I might as well stamp my forehead in big bold letters saying, ‘I’m here’.” Cameron sasses, pushing against his ribcage, his expression looking uncomfortable. I was sure the baby was giving him problems at this moment, which could be the reason for his mood change.

“Of course, the dean agreed. It’s Lincoln Nolan after all.” I say just as we enter the east wing.

“You mean Lincoln Besson.” Tristan whispers proudly.

I couldn’t help the smile burst on my face. “Not to the public yet.” I whisper back.

That’s right. The day we went to the courthouse to get Cyan’s last name changed to Besson; Lincoln also did his. There was confusion from the judge, but he was sworn under secrecy not to reveal the name change until it was publicly announced by Lincoln himself. But once it was announced by the judge and documents were signed, I couldn’t help getting seriously emotional as I watch my two favorite men celebrate with such joy and love. Andi had been there with us, and he seriously couldn’t stop crying. I didn’t blame him. From the moment he found out the truth about his son being Zachary Besson’s child, he probably waited for this day. And to add a grandson to the mix was just as amazing. Now, all there was left to do was for me to change mine to Besson as well. But that was going to wait until things got settled. And hopefully it will be soon because I couldn’t wait to marry the love of my life and have the Besson name too.

“I’ll see you guys after class.” Tristan sighs with such dejection I couldn’t help chuckling at him.

“Meet back here.” Cameron states, waving us off in the opposite direction.

“As always.” I state as I headed for the class that was right next to me.

We decided to opt out of the café and just come back to the mansion. With so many men following us that it was nearly impossible to enjoy ourselves. I texted Lincoln that I was coming home early with his reply stating he was still out doing onsite duties to make sure everything was running smoothly. He told me about the threat and the meeting with the president of Cornerstone. Apparently, they have a game plan but couldn’t execute until they were able to swindle down some candidates from their lists. Now it was just a waiting game to see who would act and take the bait they set out. And so far, none of them have bitten. Which was frustrating as hell because we all just wanted to go back to our normal lives.

We walk through the door to laughter and talking. Smiling as I reach the dining room I see Cyan, Zachary and Shiri going ham on some ice cream. The mess alone was horrific as they had all kinds of sprinkles, whipped cream, nuts, crumbled cookies and all kinds of syrups everywhere.

“What happened here?” I scoff shaking my head, knowing full well who it was.

“Oh lord, Zachary, look at you.” Tristan looked defeated with no heat to his words. He really did look exhausted.

“Wow, the things I get to look forward too.” Cameron deadpans.

“Mommy!” Zachary exclaims excitedly as he jumps down from his chair and rushes towards his mother. He stops just before he was going to collide with him and gently wraps his arms around his legs, or at least what he could wrap as his head was stopped by Tristan’s big belly.

“Don’t think this is going to get you out of a scolding young man. You know better than to make such a huge mess.” He chastises his son as he tenderly rakes his hand through his platinum locks.

“I promise to clean up.” He beams at him, not worried in the slightest.

“You better.”

I walk over to Cyan, putting my hands on my hips with upraised eyebrows. “So, where’s the culprit who allowed this to happen?”

Cyan’s face was covered in chocolate syrup and smeared ice cream. A few of the sprinkles were even stuck to his cheek. “Um…I think he went into the kitchen. Am I in trouble?” he asks innocently making my heart melt even more.

Ruffling his hair I sigh. “No, but I am going to give the person a piece of my mind by leaving you all unattended with this mess.”

“Oh, okay!” He shrugs and goes right back into digging into the slop he created.

I sigh again as I head into the kitchen just to find Sia pigging out on a sandwich he made for himself, the ingredients scattered everywhere on the large island countertop in the center of the kitchen.

“I should have known.” Cameron crosses his arms and glares at his husband.

“Oh! You’re all home early.” He says with his mouth full.

“Sia Alexander Steffon! Don’t just come in here stuffing your face with other people’s food and what the hell is that mess in the dining room?! You literally left three five year olds completely on their own making the world’s largest disaster. They’re all sticky now!” Tristan yells at him as he marches up and snatches the guy’s sandwich right out of his hand that was on it’s way to his mouth.

“They were having fun! You have to allow them fun Tristan, it’s what being a kid is all about.” He whines looking at the sandwich that Tristan throws back on the plate that apparently was forgotten.

“See what I have to look forward too?” Cameron whispers to me in dread.

I crack a smile. “It’s alright Tristan, he’s family so he’s welcome to anything here at the house. But as for the children…”

I cross my arms staring Sia down as Tristan and Cameron do. He finally realizes his predicament and starts to sweat a little. “I-I’ll just clean up here and then go take care of the kids too.” He mumbles, quickly doing just that.
