The palace was ablaze with lanterns for the whole night.
Pei Zhuang opened her eyes reluctantly, seeing the peony fine gauze curtain weaved by golden threads firstly, and then the luxurious room with delicate paintings and well-carved patterns on the beams, as well as the sophisticated furnishings.
What a sumptuous palace! It was totally beyond her imagination!
Maybe it was because she had slept for so long, Pei Zhuang intended to fetch a cup of water, but found it extremely hard to get up.
Exerting herself to sit up, she finally saw her thighs, which were as thick as two iron pillars.
The bed would shake violently from the slightest movement of them.
Astonished as she was, Pei Zhuang wiped the sweat off her forehead, accidentally noticing that her arms were even thicker than her shank in her previous life, on which the slightly dark-skinned flab was almost unbearable to look at.
Ah-ah-ah!
Would her soul bloat after her death!?
She passed out again.
Before long, Pei Zhuang was woken up by the sound of weeping. She tipped her head and saw a pretty girl with a baby face sobbing while eating a pear, her head lowered.
The juicy pear made Pei Zhuang’s mouth water.
Throwing the pear away, the girl burped before covering her face with her hands out of shyness. “Since I was exhausted from crying, I wanted to have a pear which can moisturize my skin. Thank god, you finally woke up, Your Highness.”
Pei Zhuang covered her body with the quilt. It was impossible for her to escape from the reality...
This dark-skinned and plump body was indeed hers!
Hold on! Your Highness?
With a gleam of puzzlement flickering in her eyes, Pei Zhuang tried her best to support her body with one arm before asking tentatively, pretending to be suffering from a severe headache, “What happened to me?”
“It’s Madam Yu who was digging her own grave. Several days ago, when having a walk in the royal garden, you were offended by her. Since there were no one around then, we had no idea what Madam Yu did to you, merely knowing you were so incensed that you even spitted blood. You had already passed out when we were there. It led to such a chaos in the royal palace when the emperor learned about the incident.
Pei Zhuang couldn’t help frowning at the complexity of her words. Was she in the Tang Dynasty when a plump lady was regarded as a beauty?
No way!
She was not as fat as a roasted goose.
But when she came to the dresser beside her bed, what she saw was a fat roasted goose looking into the mirror!
She was as plump as a ball!
Walking around the room with that swinging chubby body, Pei Zhuang didn’t find a single camera.
It was indeed a time travel!
“Tang Dynasty?”
Lan’er touched her head in puzzlement before asking, “What is Tang Dynasty? This is the third year of Han Wu! For God’s sake!”
Staring at her madam’s dark-skinned face, Lan’er stuttered in panic, “Shall I... send for... the imperial physician?”
“Here comes the emperor!”
A shrill voice rang and interrupted their conversation.
With the doors were pushed open, streams of sunshine scattered on the floor. A tall and lean man stepped inside the room. His slender and straight legs, as well as his handsome face dwarfed his robe with dragon patterns.
His eyes, flickering with a sharp gleam, were as deep as a fathomless lake.
Pei Zhuang’s mind went blank at once.
What an aura...
Jesus! She was definitely not a match to such a husband!
Seeing Pei Zhuang was in astonishment again, Gu Jinghong, slightly knitted his eyebrows, tried his best to be gentle, his eyes even glimmering with deep concern.
“Dear, do you still feel uncomfortable?”
Dear?
Chubby as she was, she became one of this handsome man’s favourite concubines! Stunned and frightened, Pei Zhuang even forgot to breathe.
Gu Jinghong patted Pei Zhuang’s back gently. With an almost imperceptible wisp of impatience skimming across his eyes, he comforted Pei Zhuang tenderly, “It might be a little hard for a fatty to breath smoothly. Remember to take a deep breath next time.”
Being pleased and afraid at the same time, Pei Zhuang subconsciously avoided meeting the emperor’s gaze. Though intending to say something, she couldn’t utter a word for a long while.
It was common for a man to focus on a woman’s appearance. Not being a sweet and good-looking girl, Pei Zhuang wasn’t that stupid to believe her husband would truly love the flab under her dark skin.
Once the emperor noticed there was something wrong, her suffering would be much worse than death!
Given her master’s dilemma, Lan’er knelt down in a hurry. “Since Princess’s head was seriously injured, her mind is still wandering now according to the physician. Please don’t blame her for her misbehavior, Your Majesty.”
Frowning slightly, Gu Jinghong got up with his hands clasped behind his back. Considering Pei Zhuang was indeed in a trance, he said unhurriedly, “It doesn’t matter. I am glad that my dear is okay.”
Measuring Pei Zhuang with his eyes, he smiled faintly.
Though she looked sillier than before, it was all right. As long as she survived, there was still hope.
Staring at Pei Zhuang affectionately, the emperor seemed to be gazing at a totally different woman, full of tolerance and concern.
