Chapter 89 Escape from Heaven

As soon as he finished, the two who had been restrained suddenly started struggling like crazy!

Harry's guy was caught off guard, and Matthew actually managed to break free!

Harry was more on the ball, and with Calliope being weaker, she couldn't break loose.

Matthew charged over and grabbed Harry's hand, trying to twist it back!

But Harry's finger was still on the trigger, and any slip-up could make the gun go off!

"Damn it! Are you nuts?!"

Even now, Matthew had a grin on his face. He actually grabbed the muzzle of the gun with his hand!

"Harry, you got one shot. Either shoot through my hand or give up and cut your losses."

"Are you two just gonna stand there?!"

Harry yelled, looking up to see both his guys standing still with their hands up, a red laser dot on their foreheads.

At that moment, a red dot appeared on Harry's forehead too.

"Now you're in the crosshairs. What's it gonna be? Made up your mind yet?"

Matthew was always cool under pressure. The more intense the situation, the more pumped he got!

Harry was fuming! He knew Matthew was trying to provoke him into firing, making it safer for Calliope.

But he wasn't gonna let Matthew win!

"You wanna take a bullet for her, huh? Fine, as you wish, we'll go down together!"

With that, Harry pulled the trigger, and Matthew gripped the barrel even tighter. The next second, the gun fired.

"No!"

At the last moment, Calliope suddenly found some strength and knocked Harry back a step!

"You wanna die?!"

Harry swung the gun at Matthew's head!

When Matthew raised his hand to block, he saw Harry had already dragged Calliope to the edge of the deck, looking like they might both go over.

Matthew quickly raised his hand, signaling the sniper to hold off.

Matthew asked, "What do you want?"

"How'd you know I only had one bullet?"

"Your gun felt too light."

"Matthew, you really are something. I'm out of options, so I'll take this woman with me. Even though she lied about being pregnant, at least I can make you regret it forever. You love her, don't you?"

As Matthew took a step forward, Harry stepped back, grinning like a madman.

"Don't move. I'm done being pushed around by you."

"What do you want? I'll go with you."

"No, I just want you to live with this pain. Matthew, being the golden boy feels good, right? What if I make you kneel for this woman now? Will you kneel?"

As soon as he said it, Matthew replied firmly, "I will."

Harry's laughter stopped; he didn't expect Matthew to take the humiliation so easily.

He tightened his grip on Calliope's neck, a flicker of doubt in his eyes.

"Then kneel, and I'll think about sparing her."

Matthew's eyes showed no hesitation as he started to kneel.

"Wait, Matthew, you can't kneel!"

Calliope cried and struggled, and in the chaos, she and Harry almost toppled off the deck!

She couldn't believe Matthew was willing to go this far for her!

"Matthew, thank you."

With that, Calliope leaned back with all her strength, dragging Harry into the sea with her!

"Calliope!"

Matthew's eyes widened as he instinctively jumped in after them, but Calliope couldn't hear him anymore.

In the water, all Calliope could hear was the bubbling around her.

Her hands were still tied, leaving her no chance to fight back.

Was this really the end?

She couldn't even think straight.

Calliope slowly sank in the cold seawater, her heart pounding wildly and her strength fading away in despair.

She and Harry would soon disappear into the depths, lost forever.

But then, Matthew was there!

He dove in without a second thought, swimming towards Calliope with everything he had. His focus was solely on her, everything else a blur.

Unprepared for the dive, Matthew's lungs burned, but he didn't stop, driven by the fear of losing Calliope.

Finally, he reached her, grabbing her and using his last bit of strength to swim to the surface.

As they broke through, Matthew gasped for air, while Calliope was already unconscious.

"Calliope! Callie! Wake up!"

A lifeboat arrived, and the police pulled them both aboard. They were then rushed to the hospital.

When Calliope woke up, she knew she was in a hospital, hearing the beeping of monitors and smelling disinfectant.

As soon as she moved, a warm hand touched her face.

"You're awake? How do you feel?"

Calliope slowly opened her eyes, recognizing the familiar VIP hospital room ceiling.

Matthew sat beside her, looking exhausted, his eyes bloodshot.

His face was full of concern, his voice low and gentle, filled with worry.

Calliope tried to speak, but her dry throat only allowed weak sounds.

Seeing this, Matthew immediately picked up the water cup by the bed, helping her sit up to drink.

Calliope's body was weak, causing water to spill from her mouth. Without hesitation, Matthew took a sip of water and transferred it to her mouth.

Though unconventional, it helped, and her throat felt much better.

Calliope spoke up, "I'm sorry. I tricked you to the dock to save myself."

"It's no big deal; I went on my own, so don't blame yourself."

Calliope shook her head, softly saying, "It's not just that. I'm impulsive and didn't know you'd jump in to save me. It must have been dangerous, right?"

Matthew looked at her quietly for a few seconds before asking, "You feel better now, right?"

Though puzzled, Calliope nodded.

"Yes, but why..."

The next moment, Matthew flicked her forehead with two fingers!

Calliope instinctively leaned back, completely stunned.

Why did he suddenly hit her?
