Baby Brother's Threat

Baby Brother's Threat
Riley's Point of View:

“Oh!” The caller burst into taunting laughter. “Don't tell me you've forgotten my voice so soon. You promised that you would never forget me because no one made you as annoyed as I do!”

My face turned into a scowl, and I clenched my fists. “Daniel! I should have known!” I said with irritation on finding out who the person was.

“Oh come on! You wouldn't know even if I was close to you. That's the way I stole your girlfriend, Lucien. You are so naive that you end up trusting even the devil!” Daniel replied with a mischievous grin.

“The devil wouldn't be so lucky next time. I will slice them into two before they even think of testing my patience,” I replied with a grimace. “Also, Daniel, you should add more effort into your marriage considering how cheap your wife is. If you, a fool, can get inside her pants with just a sentence, then you should be getting your bucket ready because you will be crying very soon.”

Daniel knew I was telling the truth, but he refused to believe it and flared. “Don't you dare talk about my wife in such a manner! She has more dignity than you ever will,” he cried out like a baby.

I didn't bother to argue with him. I had more urgent matters to worry about, and I didn't want to add him to my to-do list.

“What do you want, baby brother?” I asked, taking a deep breath. “I'm sure you didn't call me to assure yourself that your wife is decent!” My word was filled with heavy sarcasm, and a part of me expected Daniel to cut the call angrily.

“You are right sister, I didn't call to prove your stupidity. If you should know, I called to warn you!” Daniel replied with an arrogant tone, feeling proud and elite.

“To warn me?” I raised my brows, wondering if I was missing a piece of the puzzle.

“Yes, to warn you! Stay away from my family, Riley! No one cares about you, to our parents, you are just a dirty lost puppy, and they took a glance at you because they intend to eat you for supper!” Daniel sounded so confident, that I could perceive his insecurities from afar.

“Your family?” I arched my brows, feigning ignorance. “Wait, do you mean our family? Because I can't remember having anything to do with a foolish man, much more his family,” I said after a few seconds of silence.

“You slu-” Daniel wanted to roar at me, but managed to control himself.

If it wasn't for the pressing matters I was thinking about, I would have laughed at him. “Look, Daniel, grow up and stop being a child. If you have problems, instead of ignoring the source, tackle it and stop blaming the people around you! If you don't want me in the family house, confront our mother and father, and stop disgracing yourself like a toddler!” I advised with a grimace, and without waiting for his response, I hung up. I could hear him shiver, yeah! My words touched him!

But I didn't just give him advice, I also advised myself. “If you have problems, instead of ignoring the source, tackle it and stop blaming the people around you!” Those words kept echoing in my head, and I shut my eyes as I allowed it to sink in.

“I will attend the family dinner!” I made up my mind, and opened my eyes, ready to face my fear.

I wasn't interested before, but my discussion with Daniel woke up a yearning in me, and I wanted to make my parents feel as miserable as they made me. I also wanted to make Daniel insecure. I wanted to be the reason he would refuse to eat and drink. I wanted to die, knowing for months my brother could not sleep because he was scared I would take back my inheritance and inherit the company after my parent's death.

“Not only will Daniel lose his mind, but in the process, he will blame Lucien, and he will believe it's her fault. Lucien will feel miserable, and with time, their marriage will scatter, and they will become enemies. Mother and father will see the ugly side of Daniel. He will become so insecure that he might even plot their assassination. Yes, they so much desire that!” I murmured under my breath and smiled, feeling happy with my plan.

“At the end of the day, I win, and the company will be donated to a charity school or an orphanage home,” I said with renewed determination. “This time, I wouldn't ignore the source of my problems, instead, I will make them destroy themselves.” A menacing smirk settled on my lips.

“You must be feeling very proud of yourself,” I heard my conscience voice, and she sounded excited to carry out…. our plan.

“Yes, I am. I'm really happy,” I giggled excitedly.

“Then, pick up your wig and wear it! I know you don't want to be your past self. You want to be a new Riley, and believe me, the new you have made peace with her past life!” My conscience motivated me, and I smiled in agreement.

I wore my wig proudly and made a silent promise to be the new me. “Yes, I am dying of cancer, and I am not ashamed of myself!” I said as I wore my red family dress.

But if only I knew how fate had planned my day, maybe I wouldn't have attended the family dinner. I might have just politely turned down the offer and spent my time sleeping on my queen-size bed.
