Sense Of Familiarity
Sense Of Familiarity
Rachael's POV
"Hey beauty, why are you drinking alone? Huh?" I wrinkled at the smell of alcohol and body sweat coming from the man beside me. He was invading my personal space and his eyes scanning me from head to toe with a mischievous glint in his eyes. He was easy to read, and it only made me more disgusted.
I pushed the seat back and hurried to stand but my legs wobbled. God, how much did I drink? I lost count while buried in deep thoughts, but I knew I stopped at 8 shots.
I glanced at the bartender who appeared to be busy with another customer. She had been serving me drinks without delay, but I felt like cursing at her, even though she was just doing her job.
I never knew I had high tolerance for alcohol until now but that didn't mean I could tell how many eyes this man had. I could see four sets of eyes staring at me with a scowl on his face.
He lifted his hand to touch me... Wait, how many hands were supposed to be on his right side?
It didn't matter. I knew it was the work of the alcohol, and now I couldn't tell how many doors led to the entrance. I simply forced my way there, but a hand came around my wrist before I could make it two steps to the door.
"What are-" breaths were knocked out of my lungs as someone yanked me towards a dark path. My eyes widened, and I tried to shake my head to clear my vision. I might be dizzy, but I knew this wasn't the way out of the bar and the hand on my wrist was cold, but the grip was like a vice around my wrist.
I struggled to free myself but only earned a chuckle, and soon I was pushed towards a small door that led to the back of the bar. The alley was quiet, almost as if no one were there, and I was alone with a total stranger who was more than a threat at this point.
"What are you doing?" I didn't get to finish my words before I got slammed to the wall and a hard body pressed against me. I recoiled, and my stomach lurched as warm breath fanned my neck.
The smell of alcohol mixed with sweat became too strong that I felt like throwing up. God, I wish I could throw up.
"Let me go, you asshole!" I screamed, not caring how my voice echoed in the dark alley. Oh God, this couldn't be happening. Realization sank in, silence followed.
"So feisty. I like it, and your skin feels so soft," the voice was laced with amusement as a hand hiked up my skirt. Panic set in as the hand slid further, touching my mid-thigh.
"Let go! Please," I struggled again, but I only earned a chuckle and soon dry lips touched my skin, tracing it the way up. The nauseous feeling heightened up.
I was about to get raped, and I wouldn't even know who the rapist was. I tried to kick, scream, push and do everything humanly possible to stop the hands that roamed over my body.
"Shh, relax. It's just harmless fun," he said, his mouth stretched with a smile as he retrieved a pocket-knife from his pocket. My breath was caught in my throat when the cold edge of the knife was pressed against my throat.
"If you shout the fuck-up, then I might play nice with you. But if you don't..." He trailed off, but the pressure of the knife was a telltale sign of what he would do.
Suddenly, I was pushed to the ground and my head banged against it. My elbow burned in pain when it hit the ground. I groaned in pain and the dizziness increased.
My heart was pounding painfully within my rib cage when his body was on top of me again. His knife was back against my throat as a warning, and his other hand struggled to get rid of my dress. The taste of copper filled my mouth as I bit my tongue to stop myself from screaming in fear.
Cold air touched my chest as he tore off my shirt, leaving me in nothing but my bra. My skin crawled in disgust as he pressed his body harder against mine excitedly.
I closed my eyes not wanting to see or feel anything and just hoped the ground would just yawn and swallow me up...
"Stop!" A deep manly voice resounded, and I felt a sense of familiarity. The voice was unmistakably familiar, and it sent shivers down my spine.
As if the universe has suddenly answered by wish, the heavyweight on me was gone and the smell of alcohol and body odor was also gone. I opened my eyes, stunned and shocked, but the whimpering sound coming from beside me made me quickly close my eyes again.
The memory of the night of my stepfather's death came rushing back. I recalled the voice that halted the man from pulling the trigger. That particular word "stop" in that deep voice. I couldn't be mistaken. That person had saved my life that night and Gavin said it Derek who had saved my life that night by stopping one of Gavin's men from pulling the trigger.
Could it be that...
I could hear groans and a painful wail before a loud sound of gunshot sliced the air and I trembled in fear. Slowly I was giving into the darkness that lurked around. I was tired of fighting, I was so exhausted I let the darkness pull me into the black hole.
