Chapter 39

Madison Conner.

Three days later.

During those days, my throat got worse, I couldn't even speak properly because of the pain, the doctors told me not to talk too much, because that man kept squeezing my neck, it ended up affecting my throat. Dom asked the doctor to put me in the same room as Hailey, and I felt quite at ease because I was close to both of them. He wanted to know about her situation, about the pregnancy case, whether she was really pregnant or not.

She said she was going to take a blood test to find out if she was pregnant or not, but she would only do it when Dom wasn't there, which is impossible. Because he's been watching us without a break, he only went home when we were asleep, so we didn't even have time to ask the doctor for a test.

The wonderful news is that I've had the cast off my arm, finally free! The doctor did a general check-up on me and I'm cured of my anemia, and he congratulated both of us for taking such good care of my health. I've actually gained a lot of weight, and I'm very happy with the result. I'm also happy to have finally got rid of the plaster cast, now it's my turn to look after them both.

Hailey is totally fine, thank God. The nurses have been taking great care of her forehead wound, they've also taken care of her diet, the only problem was Dom who was barely eating out of concern. But we made him eat.

Finally, today, that man's trial will take place. Dom has done everything to make it happen, he's talked to lawyers and even judges so that the trial can go ahead. I'm very nervous, because I'll be seeing him again, I'm afraid he won't get life in prison, neither him nor his friends. Our man has been working so hard during these three days to make sure that he stays in prison forever.

Dom said that I won't have to give my statement at the trial, his lawyers will take care of everything, they have my statement, they have everything under control. I just hope it can all be over as quickly as possible.

- Baby, are you ready? - Hailey asked, entering the room. - Dom's waiting for us.

- Yes, I am, love. - I answered her in a low tone because of my throat.

In the last three days I've started calling them love. At first I was quite embarrassed, but I got used to calling them that.

- Does your throat still hurt? - He carefully placed his hand on my throat.

- It doesn't hurt, but I still feel a little discomfort. - She nodded.

- I hope that son of a bitch gets the maximum sentence. - She's really angry, I don't blame her, because I'm angry with him too for hurting her.

- And how's your forehead? - I ran my hand over the bandage.

- It's much better, it doesn't hurt so much. I just need a bandage so I don't end up getting any bacteria in there. The nurses took very good care of us. - He held my hand. - Now let's go, our man is waiting for us.

We left the hospital room and walked down the corridor. We found Dom talking to the doctor, but as soon as he saw us, he said goodbye and came over to us.

- Are my two girls all right? - He kissed our cheeks affectionately.

- Yes, we are, love. - Hailey replied. - I confess I'm really looking forward to today.

She's not the only one anxious.

- It's going to be all right, my lawyers are going to make sure he gets life in prison. - He looked at me. - I promise you, baby.

- I trust you, love. - He smiled.

- Shall we? - We nodded in agreement.

He held my hand, which used to be in a cast, and we drove out of the hospital. Charles opened the car door for us without saying a word, we got in and, as always, I stayed in the middle.

- Baby, I know it's late, but here. - He handed me a cell phone. - I forgot you didn't have one, so I bought it for you. It's all set up and has my and Hailey's contact details.

I stared in shock at the cell phone in my hands.

- Thank you, love. - I kissed her cheek. - But you didn't have to spend any money. - He snorted.

- Baby, you've got to get used to it. I want to buy you both the best, I don't mind spending.

- It makes me a little uncomfortable. - I admit it. - Because it makes it seem like I'm with you because of the money.

- Are you?

- Of course not. - I make an offended face.

- Then that's what matters. - He smiled and kissed my lips. - Hailey and I agreed.

I looked at her and she smiled.

- At first I was a bit like that too, love. But then I learned to enjoy it, I'm not with Dom because of his money, I'm with him because I love him. Dom likes to spend money on us, there's no point in us saying we don't need it, because he'll buy it anyway.

- I really will. - I ended up laughing a little.

- You really don't have it in you. - He shrugged.

- If I'm going to fill my wives with luxuries, I'll gladly do it. Because I know they're not with me because of money, but I like to give them presents.

- You see. There's no point in saying anything, love. - I nodded.

- All right, I won't say another word.

- Good. - He kissed my cheek.

That conversation calmed me down a lot.

But in fact, I don't really like getting presents from Dom, because I'm afraid they'll think I'm with them because of the money. I've already won a lot of things, clothes, new painting materials, a room, a trip, I've won too much. But I know he's a man who likes to give presents, but I feel uncomfortable because I don't know what to give him.

- Baby? - Hailey whispered in my ear. - If you're feeling grateful, the best reward you can give him is a blowjob.

I felt my face catch fire. I stared at her in disbelief, that evil smile of hers killing me.

- Are you all right, love?" he asked when he saw my expression.

- Yes, I'm fine. - I bit my lip when I heard her giggle.

That woman sucks! But I have to admit that it does relieve a lot of my insecurity. It's like she can read my mind. But I thank her for calming me down. Now let's face this trial.

Charles parked the car and we got out. Dom held our hands and led us inside. On the way, we bumped into Deputy Carter.

- Good morning, Mr. and Mrs. Maxwell. - He greeted us.

- Good morning.

He called me Mrs. Maxwell? Holy shit! But we're not even married?

- Are you going to the trial? - Dom asked.

- Of course, I want to see this son of a bitch go to jail. And it looks like he's got himself a lawyer. - Dom snorted.

- I figured as much, but unfortunately it won't be enough for him. We have enough evidence of his actions, there's no way he can be released or have his sentence reduced. - The deputy agreed.

- Shall we get going?

We were led into the courtroom. As soon as I entered, I felt so nervous that I squeezed his hands very tightly.

- It's going to be all right, my love. - Hailey whispered to calm me down.

I took a deep breath.

- She's right, love. It'll be over soon and we'll be able to go home. - She kissed my hand.

- right.

We went to the chairs and sat down.

- I'm going to talk to the lawyers. - He said and got up to go to his lawyers.

- It's going to be all right, my angel. - He squeezed my hand lightly. - You'll see.

- Yes. Everything will be fine. - I agree.

I want this trial to end as soon as possible.
