Chapter twenty-five - Runaway

Lancelot Carter's Pov:

My laugh faded when I saw the fear in Adira's face. She was afraid I could tell. I instantly wrapped her in a hug. I held her tightly. "Hey, are you okay? What happened here?" I asked worriedly. "Runaway. Please run away Lancelot. He is here for you. He will take you away from me. He will take you away from me. Please run." Adira screamed crying.

"Wait, what? Who is here? Baby tell me."

"Just run please, Lancelot."

"I'm not going anywhere leaving you here, Darling. Now tell me."

"He told me his name was Snow Willson. He told me he will take you all away from me. He wanted me to hand you over."

I clenched my jaw hearing the name Snow Willson. He has destroyed so many lives. He wants me dead. He wants my family dead. He will kill anyone related to me. He is the Alpha of

Shadow Clan. He wants to be in the upper position of everyone. He even killed his parents to become the alpha. Everyone rejected him and thus he killed everyone in his clan. I don't why he has been after me for so many years. I just don't know. But because of him, so many died in my clan. Now I and my family were only left. I have been running away from him since forever. Now, he was here too? Why are you being so cruel to us, God?

Like Adira, I was afraid too. Hearing her cry so loud, my heart broke. "Darling, no one is going to take me or anyone away from you. I am not letting that happen, baby. Please calm down. " I told her patting her head.

After some time, she stopped crying but still held me tightly. "Baby listen. Listen to me carefully, okay?" I told her softly. She nodded. "The man whom you had an encounter with, is very dangerous. I will tell you the details later. But we need to leave right now. We need to move immediately. Just believe in me. We will be alright. Take everything you need for some days. I will call the others to do the same. You go and pack. If you need a shower to calm down, you can do that too. I will be here." I told her holding her face. She nodded in understanding which surprised me. She moved away from me and went inside her room.

I called the others and told them about the situation. No one asked me a question and just told me to not worry. They were coming after getting ready.

Adira came out after some time with her bag. My bag was already packed. I just went inside the room and took the bag with me. Others came in after some time. Everyone was afraid.

"Please trust me on this. I will tell you everything on the way. " I told them looking at everyone.

"We trust you. We are in this together, my friend." Mathew said. I smiled at him.

"We need to get down to my car. Adira, shut off all the windows and doors tightly." I told Adira and she instantly ran to do the work.

After locking Adira's house, we came down to my car. I had a mini truck where easily ten people could stay in comfortably. Everyone got in quickly and we started our unknown journey to someplace. I just knew I have to keep them safe. I can't bear to lose more people.

After few hours, I stopped the car in an open space aside from the main road. The whole time in the car nobody talked. Everyone was silent. I know they wanted some explanations. I promised them to give so. Everyone got outside after parking the car. We just stood there in silence. I cleared my throat to get their attention. Everyone looked at me.

"Guys, I am sorry for getting you in my fucked up life. I never wanted to do that. I was so absorbed in being happy with you guys that I forgot I am not a normal human. I was a wolf. I am not safe. I am a dangerous creature in this world. For once, I forgot I was not running anymore from those who want to kill me. The last time I saw my family, was three years ago. I don't even know if they are even alive," I paused trying to control my tears. "I feel so guilty for running away. I just wanted to live that time. I still want to live. And I lived so happily with you guys for this one month. I even found my soulmate here." I said looking at them.

"The reason why I'm taking you guys to run away with me is that they already know you are close with me. And you are not safe anymore there. I know your family will be worried about being gone so long. But trust me, I will be taking you to a safe place. I need to keep you safe. I can't afford to lose any more people. I really can't. " I said and broke down crying. "Here is the plan, after driving you guys to the safe place I will no longer stay with you. I need to face those jerks and fight them. I need to fight Snow Willson. After some days, you all can come back and live your normal life here again. You will understand when to come back. So, forgive me for bringing you all to this mess." I finished saying looking down.

Suddenly, a punch surprised me. I fell. Surprised I looked up and saw Oscar crying. He punched me again. Mathew and Valentino tried to held him away from me. "You must have never thought of us as your friends. If you ever considered us your friends, you would have never even thought of fighting this alone. Friends are supposed to fight together, you jerk. We all are supposed to fight together. You should apologize for wanting to fight this alone, not for bringing us to this mess, Bastard." Oscar screamed at me crying. I was surprised by his words. I have never seen him like this. Looking at others, Emily and Adira were crying too. Valentino and Mathew loosened their grip on Oscar and stepped back. I could see they were holding back their tears too. Standing up, I got closer to Oscar and pulled him to a hug. " I can't bear to watch more people die because of me, Oscar. That's why I wanted to fight alone." I said holding him." If something happens to you, then how are we supposed to live Jerk? Let's fight this and live together, Lancelot." Oscar said hugging me back. I smiled between my tears. "If you say so," I mumbled softly. Oscar hugged me tightly. Others joined in the hug too.

"Our family won't even worry if we didn't go back for some years. Stop dreaming dude." Mathew said out. Everyone chuckled.

Lancelot, let's not mess this up. Let's not see any more people die. Let's live. Let's live with these people.

It was currently twelve at the night. Everyone was fast asleep in the car except me, Valentino and Adira. Valentino was inside the car with others taking a rest. Adira was with me. We were outside the car. We were sitting on the open field under the naked sky. It was a full moon night today. The silence was comfortable among us.

"Aren't you supposed to turn into a wolf when it's a full moon?"

I chuckled hearing Adira's question. "Yes, I am supposed to. But why am I not turning into a wolf yet?" I said holding my smile.

"Maybe it's not a full moon then. It's just a big moon."

Hearing her reply, I burst out laughing. "Why are you laughing, creep?" She asked glaring at me. " Why are you so cute, Adira? It is a full moon, baby. I just have the capabilities to control when I can turn into a wolf." I told her smiling.

"Then why couldn't you control it when you are sick. You just wanted to scare me, right? Jerk."

"When I am sick, I can't control anything. I just have the conscience to not hurt anyone at that time. Why would I want to scare you? What good can I get scaring you, darling? " I told her chuckling.

"Because you are a jerk."

"Why do always call me a jerk? Don't call me that. Call me babe."

"Jerk."

"Babe."

"Babe. Wait. You called me babe." I looked at her surprised. She was blushing. The soft moonlight brushed over her features and made them more prominent. She looked soft. I touched her face. She looked at me. Her face was warm. I moved closer to her face. She didn't move an inch. I looked at her lips. She looked at mine too. Like the soft breeze that brushed on our skin, our lips met each other. Like the rhythm of a song, our lips moved in sync with each other. Adira pulled me closer by my neck. I pulled her closer by her waist. As if We weren't getting enough of each other, we pulled each other more closely and devoured each other.

Suddenly, we moved away from each other together. I felt a strong cutting pain on my hand. Adira flinched too. The pain was gone. Curious, what caused the pain, we looked at each other's wrists. The mark. Our soulmate mark. The bond mark. We looked at each other. Adira looked relieved somewhat. I felt tinglings in my heart. Butterflies in my stomach seeing her smile looking at our marks. Mine was a little star and Adira's one was a full moon. Before again leaning closer to her, "You are my Full moon." I whispered and smashed my lips on her.
