Chapter 14 Ep 14
Kassi
2
I wanted to throw up
I was going to throw up.
Except I couldn't
1
Why did you ask?
Because I was tied up and gagged in the trunk of an effing car going God knows where.
6
My limbs were stiff, my vision was hazy and I'm pretty sure I was shot with Aconite
Again
After that guy busted into the old man's place chaos erupted.
Before I could even blink, I was pierced in the neck with a needle and being whisked away from my brother and Grandfather, who were busy fighting off a group of hunters.
4
The car came to an abrupt halt and my head hit the metal trunk door.
1
"You'd think for a bunch of highly trained assassins they'd have someone who wasn't such a sucky driver" I muttered
5
The trunk opened and bright light assaulted my eyes.
2
I was picked up and hauled over a shoulder
A couple of minutes later I was thrown onto the floor of a musky-smelling room. From its rancid smell, I would guess that it wasn't clean in a very long time.
Another prick to my neck and I blinked away the dizziness and blurred vision.
I looked around the blurry room and my eyes settled on a smirking figure in the corner.
1
"It's you" I spat in disdain
13
He came closer and bent down to my level before caressing my chin.
1
I flinched away and bared my teeth at him
2
He grabbed my chin harder "Ah? What happened? No roundhouse greeting again?"
3
"I would if I could" I snarled "Release me from these chains and I'll give you the greeting you deserve Princess"
12
He chuckled but quickly sobered up when a reprimanding voice chided him
"Now David" the voice tsked "Is that any way to treat our guest of honor"
David bowed
"No father" he apologized "Please forgive my actions. They will never happen again"
9
The man waved his hand "Go find your brother"
"Oh Great" I muttered "There are more psychos in this family"
The man, who I was pretty sure was the tyrant Julian, laughed
"Sassy, like your mother" he bent down and grabbed my chin
2
I glared at him
He ignored me, his eyes scanning my entire face as he took in every detail.
"Amazing," he said in awe "You looked exactly like your mother"
18
He stood "Except you have his eyes"
I tried to sit up but the chains bunched up tighter
"I wouldn't do that if I were you," Julian said before walking to the small window of the rancid room "Those chains are spelled to constrict a captive the more they move. Move too much and they'll squeeze you to death"
7
STORY CONTINUES BELOW
"Charming" I snarled "Care to tell me what I'm doing in this hellhole?"
2
Surprise flashed in his eyes "You mean your mutt of a father never told you?"
"What did you call him?!" I snarled, fighting against the chains as they become tighter
"A mutt" Julian smiled "That is what he is, isn't he?"
5
"And you're a crazy sociopath" I spat "But you don't hear me saying it"
15
I smiled cruelly "Oops, did I just say that?"
3
Julian's eyes flashed in anger and he grabbed my chin "I would watch my words if I were you girl"
"Or what?" I spat "You'll hurt my family? Too late crazy, you've already done that"
He smirked before releasing me and standing "Are you sure about that?"
"What in the hell do you mean" I yelled
11
"See you soon Wolf" He waved me off and walked to the door "Enjoy your stay!"
"Ugh!!" I yelled "You bastard!"
Chuckles echoed off the walls as well as footsteps ascending a set of stairs
5
~~~~~~~
I think an hour later, a set of footsteps sounded on the stairs
3
I would have moved to see who it was but I'm pretty sure I was one wiggle away from killing myself.
My whole body was numb, my lungs hurt, and it was getting harder and harder to breathe.
The door was opened to my cell and soft footsteps shuffled in
"Abduceo Abeo Abscido" a soft voice muttered and my chains immediately fell off
13
"Finally" I stretched my limbs
I looked up and found a pair of silver metallic eyes staring at me
I jumped up, ready to fight
There was a breeze and suddenly I was thrown against a grimy wall
1
"I mean you no harm," the voice said as the metallic eyes came closer
I snorted, struggling against the invisible force "Sure, and that's why I was thrown against the wall"
The dim lighting above shone lightly in her face, just enough so I could make out some features.
She was a pretty Hispanic girl, who, if I had to guess was about fourteen years old.
20
Her metallic eyes shone brighter and I saw her wave a fist
I was immediately dropped to the floor
"Oomph" I grumbled "Why is everybody in the damn house so rough"
"Sorry," she said with an accent I didn't notice before "Here. Eat"
She thrust a plate into my hands before standing up and leaving.
She muttered a few words softly and the doors clamped shut
4
Before she made it to the first stair, she paused
"I wouldn't touch the bars if I were you. They're enchanted to set fire on whoever touches them. The fire won't go out until the caster reverses the spell and I won't be here"
Great" I muttered "And the chains?"
"No more chains for you" she nodded towards the bars "That's why the spell's in place"
She climbed the first stair and I called out to her again
"Why are you doing this," I asked "Why work for them? Why work for someone that probably despises you"
"Why does anyone work for a company they do not like?" she asked "To provide for the ones they love"
5
"But there are alternative ways to take care of your family," I said, pleading with the young girl "Safe ways"
"There are no alternatives for me" she whispered "There are no alternatives for any of my people"
3
"You don't know that..." I started but she cut me off
"You know nothing about my alternatives" she whispered "You've been in our world for all of a week and think you know all that there is to know about it. I'm sorry to say Princess but there are no alternatives for my people"
8
She started walking up the stairs and I began to panic, wanting her to understand but also trying to pry more information from her.
"Can you tell me why I'm here?" I asked, more like pleaded "Why they took me?"
She paused, coming back down a couple of steps
Her eyes glowed as she stared right through me
"For one's true nature to be shown death must be known," she said in an eerie tone "For death creates life and life ascends the Throne"
160
With that, she ran up the rest of the stairs.
~~~~~~~
An hour after the witch left, I was sitting on the least dirty spot in the whole room.
Which happened to be in the middle of the damn room
I looked at the now cold food in contemplation
"I wouldn't eat too much of that food" a raspy and gravelly voice whispered
8
I snapped my neck to the right, where I heard the voice come from "Who in the hell is there?"
Snapping sounded and I got up to see what it was.
When I got close to the wall, something grabbed my ankle
I screeched and jumped back, ultimately falling on my butt.
"Son of a..." I cursed
The hand let go of my ankle
"Sorry," the raspy voice said "I just wanted you to know where I was"
3
"How'd you do that?" I asked "And why shouldn't I eat the food"
"A bricks missing between your cell and mine," the voice said "And the food is mixed with Aconite, Wolf's bane. The Witches mix it into all of the prisoner's foods to keep our Wolves at bay. Too much Aconite can permanently damage your connection to your Wolf"
4
There was a moment of silence
"And you know that from experience?" I asked, before sitting back on the ground, a few feet away from grabbing hands in case he goes crazy and ends up chopping my foot off
STORY CONTINUES BELOW
A hoarse chuckle sounded and I winced at the harsh sound
"I've taken in a lot of Aconite," he said "But not from the food"
"Then from what?"
"The Hunters keep me injected 24/7 with an Aconite water-based solution. They give me just enough to keep my Wolf away and not kill me"
21
I looked at the dark, dingy wall in surprise
"Do they do that with everyone? Will they do that to me?
"No, just me"
"Why?" I wondered
4
"Because my Wolf and I are very special," he said cryptically "They need me alive"
96
"How long has it been since you've last seen or heard from your Wolf?"
2
"I haven't felt him in 3 years"
"And how long have you been here?"
5
"9 years" he whispered "The last time I heard from him was when he told me to stay strong for our pup"
177
"You have a child?"
"Yes" he whispered "She was nine when I was taken away from her"
192
So if she was nine when he was kidnapped and he's been in here for nine years then he would have a daughter around my age.
131
"I'm sorry," I said sincerely "I know what it's like to be missing a parent. If she's anything like you, she'll keep fighting to find you"
"She's not looking for me," he said dejectedly "The Hunters made sure of that. They made sure that my Mate and daughter knew that I was dead"
75
I changed the subject to "Do you have any other children?"
"No, my son died of some complications before my daughter being born"
62
I winced,
Great Kassi.
Keep bringing up painful memories for this guy.
"I have a younger brother," I said "And recently found out that I had an older brother too"
2
"That's nice," he said "What are they like?"
"My baby brother is the best thing that has ever happened to me," I said "My mom found out that she was pregnant a couple of weeks after my dad died. Without him, I don't think I would be the person I am today"
26
"It's funny how siblings can shape you" The man laughed softly "I had an older sister and younger sister and without them to keep me in line, I probably would have been a dog"
14
He laughed "No pun intended"
I laughed too
A sense of deja vu wrapped around me, trying to get me to understand something
23
"If you don't mind me asking" he started, breaking me out of my weird moment "Why are you here?"
3
"I don't know" I confessed "One minute my grandpa was explaining some things to me and the next I was here being interrogated by Julian the Sociopath"
There were footsteps on the stairs
"Quiet," the man said "If they catch us talking, they'll have a Witch seal our mouths shut"
1
"Great" I muttered
I turned toward the bars just as a guard passed by
When he saw me, his lip snarled
I made a look but an idea popped into my head
I ran to the bars and stopped a few inches away from them.
"Hey!" I called out to the guard
He paused and backtracked
"What do you want?" he growled
I knew it!
I knew that this guy had to be a Wolf.
His snarl gave it away
"What do I want?" I grinned wolfish, feeling my anger rise and my eyes change "I want you to open this door and take me to your boss. Now"
31
The guard's eyes widened and his body complied against his will after a couple of minutes.
3
The Aconite must have affected me more than I thought because although he complied with my wishes, he was able to fight against my compulsion a lot longer than when I was at my full strength.
"Follow me," he said through gritted teeth
I smiled
Before I left the basement, I called out
"I'll come back for you," I said "I'll come back for all of you"
"You can't save them all" the guard hissed, a sweat breaking out on his forehead "They'll die, just like you"
"Shut up" I decked him "I'll save them if it's the last thing I do"
7
We got to the top of the stairs and I looked at him
"No funny business" I snapped "One slip up or cry for help and I'll make you walk off the roof"
9
"Fine" he snapped and opened the door
I followed
5
Game on Julian.
3
Game on
He shook his head "This isn't your fight. You nor your people should have to be brought into the middle of this"
"She's my Mate!" I exploded, sick and tired of people trying to make decisions for me like I was some child and not the Alpha of a whole damn Pack "Of course this is my fight! This has been my fight since the minute we were destined for one another!" 9
"That may be true," he said calmly "But think about how she would have felt if your Pack got attacked because of her?" 5
I growled "She would have been protected at least"
"Physically, yes" Orion looked at me "But mentally? She would have been blaming herself"
I stood tall "Well, thanks to you and your little kidnapping antics, she's neither protected physically or mentally"
He looked away "It wasn't supposed to be this way"
"Do tell on how your little kidnapping was supposed to go" I said sarcastically "Because if you planned for this to happen then congratulations. Your plan succeeded"
Orion gently lowered his grandfather back to the grounded before standing up and getting in my face.
"Are you upset with the fact that I kidnapped her to protect her or are you upset with the fact that she got kidnapped right under the nose? Right under your own roof?" 16
I growled, seeing red, and decked him straight in the face. 1
He stumbled back, seemingly caught off guard with my punch
"I'm upset with the fact that you didn't even give her a choice!" I yelled "Like everyone else, including me, you took her choice away without even asking her"
I laughed humorlessly
"In seconds her life has been turned upside down without her having a choice in the matter. Everything she's ever known and grew up on has been a lie. This girl has gone from being sure of her whole life to knowing nothing about it in the matter of a blink of an eye. The people she loved and trusted so much lied to her because they selfishly decided that it was in her best interest" 29
I looked at him "So... no, I couldn't care less about my silly pride or the fact that you royally screwed up. I'm upset with the fact that her brother, one of the people sworn to protect and be honest with her has failed to do his job by giving her the one thing she needed the most. A choice" 9
Orion flinched at the brutal truth in my words 1
"Alpha!" Everly interrupted
"What?" I snapped at her and she flinched back
"We found someone" she muttered, baring her neck
STORY CONTINUES BELOW
"Who is it?" I questioned following her downstairs
"A Hunter," she said "A badly injured one too. We need to hurry. He won't last long"
I followed her and in less than a minute, we arrived where Matt was, interrogating the injured Hunter.
"Where is she?" Matt asked before sticking his finger into one of Hunter's stab wounds "I won't ask again" 10
The Hunter cried out in pain
"Help me" He pleaded, tears in his eyes "I'll tell you what you want to know, just don't let me die"
"Tell me where the girl is," Matt said "And then I'll help you"
"I don't know" The Hunter gritted out "They took her to a different location than our Meeting place"
"And how do you know that?"
"Because the Association President's son brought his own car. He only does that when he has specific orders from his father"
"And you don't know what his orders were or where he took my Mate?" I snarled
Matt stabbed another wounded area and the man screamed
"NO!! ORDERS CHANGE AND SO DO LOCATIONS! WE DON'T EVEN KNOW WHERE WE'RE GOING OR WHAT WE'RE DOING UNTIL AN HOUR before THE JOB!" he cried out and more blood pooled out of his wounds.
"Where is your meeting place?"
The man hesitated and Ethan growled before kicking the guy in the face and stepping on the side of his head with his shoe.
The Hunter grunted
"Ethan," Taylor said worriedly "Let them handle..."
"No" he snapped "We need answers and fast"
"Where is your meeting place?" I asked again
"Creeksville Cemetery" the Hunter whispered before his eyes glazed over and he stopped squirming. 2
Matt leaned forward "He's dead"
"Dammit!!" I growled and kicked a tree stump. 11
It shook and a couple of leaves fell from its branches 10
"What are we waiting for?" Ethan growled "Let's go check out this cemetery"
"We can't," Everly said
"Why not?" the Twins frowned
"Because there's a Coven of Witches that reside on the premise," I said, pinching the bridge of my nose "And on top of that, they work for a Vampire that is helping the Hunters"
The Twins frowns deepened
Taylor was about to say something when someone obnoxiously loud cleared their throat from behind us.
We turned and my eyes widened when I saw who was standing there
"Correction," my Uncle said before holding up a bloody head "A Vampire was helping the Hunters" 170
"Fabulous" Ethan said "Now that the problem has been solved, let's go rescue Kass" 3
Kassi
10
As soon as my captive and I stepped outside, my eyes blinked, trying to accommodate the harsh light.
"Where the Hell are we?" I demanded as soon as my eyes adjusted to the light and I saw what laid before me.
Miles and Miles of Tombstones
The Wolf glared at me and opened his mouth to answer when suddenly, there was a loud 'Pop' sound and he crumpled to the ground, blood oozing out of his mouth.
My eyes widened in shock and I did a complete 360° turn.
5
"You escaped faster than we anticipated," a familiar voice said, coming out from behind a particularly tall tombstone "Quite impressive"
I glared at David, my fist aching for me to punch that stupid smirk off his face
2
"How could you do that?" I spat at him "He was one of your men-"
He cut me off with a laugh "No mutt is worthy enough to be considered one of my men"
"Still" I glared, feeling my anger rise "He was still a human being. Living breathing being"
1
David shrugged, leaning against the tombstone, with his rifle still in hand.
2
"Details," he said "Small, insignificant details"
3
I took a step forward, ready to pound his face in with my bare knuckles when he motioned for me to stop.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you" he grinned, his evil eyes lighting up
"And why the hell not?" I snarled
"Because if you do, then they'll be forced to act and our playtime will be over" he pouted before motioning to someone.
Or should I say Someones?
7
Four figures emerged from numerous tombstones around me, caging me in like an animal.
I took in three unfamiliar faces before moving onto the fourth, a familiar face in which I definitely recognized.
"Macy?" I asked in feign shock, knowing that my gut feeling about her the first day we met at the cafeteria was spot on.
"It's Marcy" she snarled, taking a step forward
53
I readied myself "Details, details"
7
"Stand down Mutt" David ordered, grasping the rifle tighter in his hands "That's an order!"
She glared at him, obeyed, but still glared
I looked at all my opponents, calculating my next move and chance of survival.
I was confident in my fighting skills, pretty sure I could take at least three of them out before David had a chance of actually hitting me with that gun, but with that being said, I wasn't an idiot.
2
I couldn't outrun from a Wolf, Bullet, or highly trained Assassins without getting injured or expending major amounts of energy.
6
The energy that was still running low from the damn Aconite
"You knew I would escape," I asked, directing my question at David but keeping my eyes on the four others "How?"
"I didn't think you would be stupid enough to escape after the Witch's warning" he rolled his eyes "However, my father on the other hand thought differently. He said that if you were anything like your mother or that mutt of a father you wouldn't have any trouble escaping"
STORY CONTINUES BELOW
"Can't we just kill her already?" Marcy growled
My eyes snapped to her
"Awe, is someone still hurt over Rhys' rejection?" I tsked "Jeez, I heard of girls getting butthurt when a guy rejects them but I never really thought one would kill to be with him"
5
"Rhys was an idiot for choosing you over me" she snapped, her eyes shifting colors "But I'm not doing this because of him"
"Then why are you doing this?" I narrowed my eyes "What could you possibly gain by going against your Alpha and your Pack?"
1
She smiled at me, a real genuine smile that lit up her entire face
"Everything..."
7
"Enough chit chat" David barked out "Capture her and bring her to the Site"
The four of them stepped forward but I put my hands out
"I wouldn't do that if I were you," I said, tying my hair up in a quick ponytail
16
They paused and one man spoke, "And why not?"
"Because," I said "By the time this is all over I'll have all of you face down on the floor"
13
The man laughed and I pointed at him first "I'm going to break both your wrists and right ankle"
I pointed to the man next to him "His foot will be shoved up someplace so far that you won't be able to walk anywhere without him joining you"
20
I nodded to the third man "I'm going to knock those teeth so straight for you, you'll be thanking me for my services"
19
I looked at Marcy "And lastly, I'm going to rearrange that face of yours because I'm sick of looking at it, and quite frankly, I think I'd be doing the world a huge favor"
64
She screamed at me before charging forward.
"Okay cool," I said, indicating to her that she should give me her best shot "It really doesn't matter to me which order we go in"
6
She stretched her arms out in front of her, claws extended and aiming for my chest.
I jumped back before nailing her left rib cage with a hard punch.
She cried out, her eyes widening in shock, before tumbling to the ground.
7
I felt a presence behind me and twirled around in enough time to see the first guy aiming for the back of my head with his fist.
I grabbed his fist, used his own momentum against him, and snapped his wrist in the opposite direction of where his body was landing.
He cried out, gripping the now broken wrist tightly.
The third man caught me off guard and managed to land a punch to my jaw.
It hurt like hell but I got smacked harder in fights with girls at my old school.
8
I spit some blood out from my teeth accidentally snagging my cheek when the punch hit
The man smirked
"You punch like a girl" I grinned, antagonizing him "Is that all you got?"
28
He yelled profanities at me and I yelled them right back at him.
1
I enjoyed this, especially when he charged at me after a particularly nasty comment of mind regarding his Mamma.
8
When he was close enough, I ducked, tucked my shoulder into his stomach, and once again used momentum against him.
He grunted and I flipped him on his back, knocking the wind out of him, before punching him continuously.
From the corner of my eye, I saw something silver glint in the sun and I jumped back just in enough time to watch as the broken wrist guy stab his buddy in the stomach with a knife.
I used the momentary shock of the guy stabbing his buddy as a distraction and snap the guy's only good.
Someone grabbed me from behind
"Gotcha Mutt" he hissed in my ear
I looked back at the guy and smiled "You think so?"
He gave me a confused look and I knocked my head back in his face, grinning when I heard the satisfying crunch of a broken nose.
5
The man released me, groaning in pain and spitting out a couple of teeth.
I roundhouse kicked him, making sure the tip of my boot hit him directly in the side of the head.
1
He crumpled to the ground and when I turned to look for Marcy, I felt a hand yank my hair back.
3
Hard
"Pulling hair now are we?" I hissed through my teeth "How dirty"
14
She gripped my hair harder and slammed it against a tombstone.
I became slightly disoriented at the force
"I don't fight to play fair" she growled, holding my head against the dirt floor "I fight to win"
"Unfortunately for you" I smiled "I play fair and still win"
14
"And unfortunately for both of you," David said from above us "I play dirty and still win"
4
There was a loud pop and I felt excruciating pain in my shoulder. Marcy slumped on me and when I looked back at her, I blanched.
I quickly threw her off me, as tough as it was, and watched in horror as blood oozed from her forehead, where the bullet exited.
12
"You killed her!" I screamed, looking at the grinning monster "You freaking shot her in the head!"
He rolled his eyes "You would have done the same if you had the gun"
3
"No, I wouldn't have," I said through gritted teeth "I could never kill another human being, no matter how screwed up or misguided they were"
4
"That's where you're the wrong Sweetheart," he said before sticking his fingers in my wound where the bullet was still lodged in.
3
I hissed out a breath and he pulled back his fingers, my blood dripping from them.
"Because underneath all that righteousness and so-called justice is a woman whose blood, carries the same qualities as I do. The thousands and thousands of Hunter ancestral blood flowing through your veins" his lip raised in a snarl " You possess the same killing instincts as I do, although contaminated and weakened with the Mutts blood"
2
"Blood doesn't define me" I spit in his face "I define me"
21
He slammed my head against the tombstone and the last thing I remembered before knocking out was hearing him say "Well good thing we only need your blood"
