Chapter 57 Mesmerized

Chapter 57 Mesmerized
Nelson had an important meeting to attend earlier, so he asked for the dress to be sent over, and specifically told his son... their son, to take it to Irene.

He knew it would be perfect for her, but what he didn't expect was how beautiful it would be on her.

How... Stunning.

He had just gotten off the car when he heard Irene being announced... Mrs. Irene Clark, his wife, so he went over. He noticed that #he was struggling with the driver as though she didn't want to be there.

He ignored it and went for her hand, but the second he saw her face, and her body in that dress, Nelson froze.

It was a black dress with diamond like shines placed on it. It hugged her perfectly from the top, and to her waist, but from her hips below they were free, carefully hiding her figure. It gave the viewers a glimpse, but left the rest to their imagination.

The dress had a v neck shaped back, which made it opened, but there was a fixed strap at the top. The hands... They were held by a thin strap, around her shoulders, and another one which fell to her upper arms.

Nelson noticed her hair which for the past week was either in a high ponytail or let loose, now swept to the side, falling freely on part of her shoulders, giving her a sort of seductive look.

She... She reminded him on their wedding.

Something Irene didn't remember.

She looked perfect... And terrified.

Finally snapping out of his daze, Nelson reached forward to grab her Irene's delicate hands. The top of her nails were painted in a fine shade of white, contrasting with the black dress, but it looked perfect.

Nelson brought her hand up to his lips, he leaned forward and kissed them.

"Gorgeous..." He muttered.

Irene heard it and couldn't help but blush, a faint shade of pink covering her cheeks. She had been so anxious, but the moment she saw him, she could finally breathe.

It was as though he was a life saver. Something she knew she could always count on, or rather in her case, someone.

When he held her hand... Her heart skipped a beat.

She watched as he slowly leaned down to kiss her knuckles, while keeping his gaze fixed on her. He was trying to make her flustered... It worked.

Irene gulped before slowly looking around.

They were standing at the beginning of the carpet... Of course there were dozen others watching them.

She began to think of the reason Nelson was showing unnecessary affection in public.

And she thought of one... Maybe he wanted to help her return to her universe.

She already told him her plan, which was to fix Irene's name in this universe, and he was the person Irene had hurt the most. Which meant... If she could show the world that she had fixed her relationship with Nelson... Maybe everyone else would come around.

Irene heart skipped again... This time it was from just looking at him.

She had failed to notice Nelson's appearance at first because she was all flustered, but when she did... She couldn't help but appreciate his beauty.

His hair was parted differently... That was the first thing she noticed.

It was somehow like hers, brushed to the side... Only that his was lowered and instead of bringing out his face like hers did, they hid his, giving him this enigmatic and mysterious vibe.

He was wearing a suit and a black shirt underneath... Another thing that matched with hers. While other people wore ties with this kind of dressing... Nelson didn't. Instead, he left the first three buttons of the shirt unbutton, his toned and hard chest peaking out of it.

He looked a breathe of fresh air... Cold, yet alluring.

Irene took a deep breath to calm her heart. She couldn't allow it to be beating as crazy as it did.

She tried to play along to whatever game Nelson was playing, smiling sweetly as she gave him her hands.

Nelson grabbed her small hands, placing it on his bigger ones before turning round. Then hand in hand, they walked into the venue, ignoring the murmurs from the people in the crowd.

"That's his wife... Yeah, her." One of the guests commented to her friend as she stood from the sidelines watching Nelson and Irene. "It almost looks like their walking down the isle."

"I wonder why Master Nelson agreed to whatever pretenses this is. I get that it's for his wife, but come on..." The friend said shaking her head. She was no stranger to the news of what Irene had done to Nelson. Actually... A lot of people at that party knew it.

So they immediately guessed it was a pretense, seeing the couple who were at each other's neck just a few weeks ago being so kind and sweep to each other now.

The first girl rolled her eyes, and shook her head.

She genuinely didn't know why her brother had chosen this life for himself. With a wife that just... That just isn't right.

But that wasn't her business. At least not any more. She had tried her possible best to change his mind when he had first gotten married to Irene... But back then, she was calmer. Though a bit different from highschool, but calmer. Organized. She didn't go crazy trying her possible best to make Nelson Clark... A man women would literally kill for to divorce her.

"Let's go in." She said to her friend, turning around to reveal the A shaped back of her purple dress.

...

Irene had to stop herself from gawking around the second she stepped into the main hall.

But... "Damn." She murmured.

This was glorious.

Glorious!

The ball was decorated so beautifully, she couldn't even describe it. With gold and diamonds and precious stones fixed everywhere...

"This people aren't even worried that some of these things could get stolen." She said shaking her head.

Everyone was dressed to the nines. She had thought her dress was too much when she had put it on earlier... But now, after seeing everything the other people wore.

She was only glad she looked even though it was just a little bit, like them. If not... She would have stuck out like a sore thumb.

Irene gulped, suddenly feeling parched. She reached out her hand to the nearest... Waiter? Where they waiters? She didn't know. All she knew was that she wanted a drink.

She grabbed a glass from his tray... She didn't know what it was, and was about bringing it to her lips when the glass was suddenly taken away from her.

Irene looked up in shock, "What?" She muttered, following the direction of the glass only to see Nelson. In the next second, he drown the contents, before settling the glass on the tray of another passing waiter.

"What?x she asked again, this time a bit louder, her voice sounding a bit irritated.

A side of Nelson's lips hooked up. "I thought you said you were eighteen? Are you allowed to drink?"

Irene narrowed her eyes at him. How dare he use her age against her now?

"This body is technically twenty-five so, I think it can handle it." She retorted, rolling her eyes before walking towards the nearest table. Nelson followed her.

"Still... You're not allowed to drink." Nelson replied. But she wasn't drinking to get drunk... No. That had only happened once in her life, after drinking so much at that party, she just wanted to quench her thirst.

"But I'm thirsty." Irene whined, placing her black purse on the table.

It was a miracle that small thing could contain her phone.

Nelson sighed. It would be strange if she didn't drink anything the entire night. "Stay here." He conceded. "I'd got get you something more appropriate to drink."

Irene nodded. She had no plans of going anywhere.

Her initial plan was to stuck by Nelson side until everything was over... She probably would still go ahead with that plan.

This was just the exception.

Irene stared ahead after Nelson left, leaning her front on the table. But less than a minute later, she heard the sound of footsteps.

They were light... Not Nelson's. And there was the sound of heels too.

"Wow..." The person spoke and turned around. "If it isn't the unfilial wife of Nelson Clark." It was the same girl from earlier, the one who had muttering with her friend.

But to Irene... She was someone else, someone she remembered from her universe.

"What?" Her eyes slightly widened as she took in the girl's face. It looked more mature, but it was her. Irene was sure of it. "It's... It's you."
