Chapter 164 Epilogue 2

Chapter 164 Epilogue 2
"Introducing, the noble businessman Nelson Clark, and his wife, one of the country's top pianists, Irene Clark."

Their names were announced, and Irene couldn't help but smile.

Another thing she had achieved.

She wasn't just Nelson's wife like she had been before, in the last future.

She had success of her own to flaunt.

"Oh my goodness, Nelson Clark's woman is stunning!"

Murmurs filled the room as soon as they stepped inside.

"Have you seen their kid? They look amazing together."

"I want to be like them when I grow up."

Irene heard a few of their comments as she and Nelson walked by, and she chuckled.

She was used to the attention now.

Not that she loved it.

But she had learned how to deal with it.

Who was Irene kidding, she loved it.

They may hate her, but not to her face.

Nelson, on the other hand, didn't seem bothered by the attention at all. His hand remained firmly around hers as they walked through the crowd, occasionally looking down at her as though making sure she was still beside him.

"Nelson?"

Someone called, and both Irene and Nelson turned to look, only to see the bride-to-be walking towards them with a huge smile on her face.

"Nelson! You came."

She turned to look at Irene, and her expression relaxed after an emotion of surprise flashed through her eyes.

"Irene."

"I wouldn't miss your engagement for the world." Irene muttered, enveloping Luna into a hug.

They pulled away just in time to hear Nelson speak.

"Of course I had to come to this. I need to watch that man's face as he's forced to spend the rest of his life with you."

Even though Nelson's words sounded harsh, the expression on his face showed that he meant no word of it, and Luna didn't take him seriously at all.

Instead, she played along.

"Hey." She scoffed, crossing her hands. "How can it be forced when he's the one who got on his knees to propose to me?"

Nelson rolled his eyes, and she giggled.

"Anyways, enjoy the party." Luna looked around at the crazy amount of guests and shook her head. "Tori and Miles are here, somewhere."

She barely knew half the people present, and she knew a lot of dignitaries.

"Benefit of marrying a prince." Irene whispered, looking around as well.

"No." Luna rolled her eyes, shaking her head. "The only benefit is that I get to finally be a princess, and who knows..."

A mischievous smile appeared on her face.

"One day, queen."

Irene laughed softly.

"I wouldn't put it past you."

"I have to go."

Luna greeted them once more, and then she was off to greet other guests, smiling sweetly at everyone.

Only the people who knew her could tell that she wanted nothing more than for the night to end.

Irene watched her for a moment before turning back to Nelson.

"She's definitely going to regret inviting this many people."

"She invited them because of the title."

"Exactly."

A slow music began playing, and couples came out to dance.

Irene tugged at Nelson's hand.

"Let's go dance." She said, and he followed her to the dance floor.

His hands found her waist easily, and they began swaying to the music.

For a few seconds, Irene simply enjoyed the moment.

The music.

The people around them.

Nelson's arms around her.

It was peaceful.

But then her eyes slowly wandered away, roaming over the multiple guests around them.

She looked from one person to another.

Nothing.

No familiar face.

No strange expression.

No one watching her for too long.

Still, she continued looking.

"What are you looking for?" Nelson asked.

His eyes looked towards the same direction hers had been looking at for a while, but he saw nothing out of the ordinary.

He returned his gaze to her.

"I noticed that your eyes had been roaming around since we arrived."

Irene blinked.

She had been too obvious.

"It's nothing..." She blinked again, shaking her head. "It's just... Nothing. Déjà vu, I guess."

Maybe it wasn't the same party or dress, but it was a party of this kind that Irene remembered the stalker spotting her again.

The last time, she had created a huge scene with Nelson's cousin, which made it impossible for him not to spot her.

He may have forgotten about her, but she reminded him, and then offered herself up like a fucking sacrifice.

This time, Irene just wanted to make sure that there weren't any sacrifices.

She wanted to ensure that he wasn't around.

But how could she do that without seeming too paranoid?

Nelson pressed his lips together.

His hand went to stroke her hair, calming her down.

"Worried about your past or future?"

"Would you be surprised if I say present?" Irene asked, taking a step back to make a twirl before returning to her spot.

The past was taken care of.

The future was actually unknown again.

But the present...

That was the most terrifying.

"Sometimes I still wonder if everything would have changed if I didn't try to change it." Irene voiced, thinking out loud.

She had been having that thought for a while.

"What if I was only shown the worst possible future that could happen and not the actual one that could happen?" She asked again, looking down.

"Or what if..."

Nelson's hand left her waist and went to her face. His finger went under her chin, bringing it upwards.

"What if you were shown the future for that exact reason? To stop that from happening?"

His words brought a smile to Irene's lips.

"Then it would mean someone up there really likes me." She muttered, stepping away to make another twirl.

Nelson turned her around, enjoying every second of being with her.

As he danced with her, he remembered something.

The day he asked Irene to get married and their wedding day.

She had acted a bit strange.

Although he knew a bit of the answer, he still asked.

"How did you know I was going to get married to you?" He asked with a small frown as the dance ended.

Irene's voice came as they returned to their position.

"Well, it's because..."

She looked at him, a small smile appearing on her lips.

"Let's just say, the first time I woke up, I was married to you."

"The one person who made my life hell in high school. Nelson Clark, my high school bully."
