Chapter 10. Welcome to the Future

Kirana's POV

I walked to my boss office mumbling some inaudible words to myself. I got to the office door and took a deep breath before knocking.

"Come in Kira" His voice sounded from inside.

Wait... how does he always know it's me whenever I knock on the door. he is quite a strange man... someday I will look into that mind if his.

I opened the door and walked in. He motioned for me to sit down and I did.

"Sir I can explain the reason for my lateness, actually I..."

"I didn't call you here because you are late for work"

"I know that's why I'm sayi..... wait what?"

"Yeah... I actually called you here for something else so quit blabbering"

"Oh... ok, sorry about that, mouth sealed" I said.

"Good... now take a look at this newspaper, page four to be precise" he instructed and handed me the papers

I opened the fourth page and started reading aloud.

"A middle aged man reports to the Sidney police department about witnessing a scene where a mysterious lady takes down a bunch of bad guys without even laying a hand on them" I paused and looked at my boss who signals with his hand that I should continue.

"Though the police refused to believe his statement, the man remained adamant on it, the police concluded that he must have been drunk at the time of the incidence and..."

"Ok you can stop now" my boss ordered and I dropped the papers

"We both know that there is ninety percent possibility that the man's report was true, so I would like you to look into the case" he instructed.

"Ok sir" I replied non-chalantly

"Yes... find that man , interrogate him and get all the information you can"

"Okay sir" I will do my best.

"Good... now you can leave an also... don't be late again" he smiled.

Wait... did he actually smile? Well that's a first time

"Sure sir... um do you mind if I take the paper?"

"Oh.... you can have just the page four, am not done reading" he replied.

"Ok sir" I said and tore out the fourth page then walked out.

Author's POV

Alright guys... I know most of you are eager to know what has happened in the past four months, so we are going to have a constant series of flashbacks till we get back to the present, don't just get confused cuz things are about to get complicated (smirks)

Billy's POV

I walked into dad's sitting room, he was sitting on the couch with his eye glued to the TV and a cup of wine in his hand, although his eyes were on the TV, it doesn't seem like he is paying any attention to it, he looks lost in thought.

Prisca was right about him, he looks more tensed than usual.

"Hi Dad" I smiled and sat beside him on the couch

"Billy" he forced a smile and faced the TV again.

"I thought you hate this reality show" I asked as I noticed that he was viewing keeping up with the Kardashians.

"Yeah.... it's not really my thing, just couldn't find any channel that interest me but forget about that, tell me why you are here, it's obvious that you only come here when you need something"

"Oh come on dad, you are making it sound like I don't care about you, of course I do" I said and hung my arm over his shoulder.

"Hmm... just tell me what you want" he chuckled and I laughed softly

"Okay Dad, well the thing is that some of my friends from another town just moved into Sidney and they haven't found a nice apartment to stay yet, the don't want to stay in a hotel and you know how hard it is to get a good house here, so... I asked them to stay in the new building, unjust wanted to know if you are okay with it"

Dad looked stunned for a while, he kept quiet then said

"Billy my boy, I did build that house for your mom, I wanted her to leave there comfortably with her family, too bad she betrayed me before it was completed, she never got to move in so it has remained empty for years, anyway I don't have a problem with it, just make sure nothing gets ruined"

"Okay Dad, thanks a lot, now tell me why you look so gloomy"

"Do you really want to know... or are you pretending to be nice" he smiled.

"Come-on pops, of course I do care about you" I replied and rested my head on his shoulder

Reenie's POV

I dropped the files on his table and made to leave but he stopped me

"Miss Reenie did you get them all signed?" He asked bluntly

"Yes I did sir"

"And the Malcolm's, are they ready for the deal?"

"Well the said the need more time sir"

"Timenis something I don't have to waste, cancel the deal with them and get me new clients!" He ordered sternly

"but sir they..."

"That was a direct order from your boss, miss I will tell you when I need your opinion" he said with a Stern face.

"Ok sir" I replied feeling bad.

I walked to the door, opened it to leave but changed my mind and closed it back.

"Miss Reenie did you forget anything"

"Yeah actually sir, can I give you a little piece of advice?"

He first shot a questioning glance at me then replied.

"Ok make it snappy, as you can see am busy and I value my time a lot"

"Alright I just wanted to let you know that the world won't end if you were a little bit more cheerful" I smiled

He looked at me like he was shocked by my statement, I bet he didn't see it coming

"Miss Reenie... I have only gotten this far in life by been serious all the time, only fools have time to joke around"

"Well at least those fools are happy in Life, probably much happier than you" I smiled

"Miss Reenie... do you know that I can have you replaced in five minutes?" He said with a red face

"Yes of course you can, but that doesn't stop me from saying my mind" I scoffed

"Just go do your work and Don't bother me" he said and I smiled.

"Mr Norman Merlin, you are not as tough as you think" I said in my mind

"So grumpy" I mumbled and walked out.

Norman's POV

That girl really has some nerve, imagine her boldness and ordercity

"She wants me to become a clown, always laughing, how silly!"

Why am I even getting pissed off by her words, there is no truth in it so I should ignore her.

"Relax Norman... relax" I took a deep breath.

Billy's POV

I parked my car in front of Natalie laboratories, I think it's about time she is out and of course I was right.

Just then she walked out looking smart in a well ironed black skirt an pink shirt.

She walked to the door side of my car unconsciouly and stopped halfway while looking for something in her bag.

I came out of the car and relaxed on it with my arms folded. I was right in front of her but he was too busy to notice.

"Someone is looking gorgeous today" I said getting her attention

She looked up and smiled then replied

"And someone is busy flirting again, mister Billy Cliff are you stalking me?" She smirked

"Um.... nah, I was just passing by and decided to pick you up, you know.... the two birds with one stone thing" I Chuckled.

"Okay... I will take your word for it, you might be a flirt but at least not a liar"She giggled and punched my chest softly

She got into the front seat while I stop stood outside watching her with a broad smile

"Mister Billy sir, please if you are done daydreaming, could you please come drop me off at a patient's house" she asked sweetly and I chuckled.

This girl is driving me nuts, and I can't just help it. I got into the car and turned it on.

"So miss Kira, where exactly are my taking you to?"

"Just hit the road, I will tell you which path to follow" she grinned

Hmm... that's an evil grin, I wonder what she is up to now.
