Chapter 60 Entrusting Peach
Yet she acted oblivious, “Really? I didn’t see her. Are you keeping an eye on her?”
“This gaze is made to be on hers,”
“Wow,” ‘Too much affection for your brother’s ex’ was silent.
William was waiting for her to complete so he could go back, constantly checking the way Arabella went.
Just unaware that Luke was there with her.
Becoming serious, she stood before the dominant man, who blankly looked back, resting his hands in his pocket.
“Why did you make Luke come to London to make a deal with me?”
“I don’t think we could get along. Luke and you were old pals after all,”
“Still, we both could have become the most powerful figures if you had agreed for the partnership,”
He smirked darkly, finally giving her his attention, “Well, there are two reasons for it,”
“Firstly, I wanted my brother’s work to get a boost, in a way, I merely used ‘you’ to give Luke an opportunity to lift his career,”
She continued smirking. She knew yet allowed it to happen. So she could capture Luke near her.
“Secondly,”
He took a step closer, hovering over her that diminished her amusement briefly, intimidated slightly by his brooding presence as he commented.
“What makes you believe I would agree to deal with such an arrogant brat?”
Her jaw clenched, leaning forward as well to compete as she had never accepted defeat.
“We deserve it, Mr. Grayson. We are among the top ten businessmen, the untouchable, even your net worth is lower-”
“Blah, blah, will you stop bragging about the money that is fed to you effortlessly? What do you know about struggle, Spoiled Princess?”
He scoffed, waving his hand to stop bragging about her generational wealth.
Her grip tightened, not wiping the tempting smirk, glaring indirectly for the next few seconds but in the end realizing he was right, she ended up snickering.
“That is why I fancy you, William Grayson, you are brutally honest with me. No one else is,” She agreed, finishing her drink and placing her hand over her waist.
“Well, somebody has to teach you manners your parents couldn’t, no?” He chuckled back, clicking his glass with hers.
“If I hadn’t respected you for the efforts you made to earn this position of being our biggest rival, I would have thrown a tantrum,”
She warned playfully, poking his chest, well aware of her position which no one preferred.
“Go ahead, I have become better at dealing with tantrums now,” He smirked, challenging her playfully.
“How so?”
“You wouldn’t want to know.”
They were aware of her stubborn nature where she did whatever she desired due to her overwhelming power and money.
She could ravage this whole party by screaming, fighting and creating drama and none would dare to interfere.
Why? Because she was “Peach Harrison”, the eminent one.
“Oh, William, aren’t you a mysterious one?” She giggled.
“Well, even if I am, I doubt you would be interested in decrypting them. The only figure that piques your wicked interest is my brother,”
He hummed, eyes back on the floor, waiting for Arabella who wasn’t out of the room yet, testing his patience.
“So?” She shrugged playfully but became serious abruptly.
William stepped closer, leaning closer to whisper so no one else could hear what he was saying.
“That is why I am trusting him with you, Peach. Don’t abandon my brother,”
Blinking, she was taken aback but holding her composure, she decided to play a little, just to tease him.
“What if I destroy him?”
He chuckled, darkly.
Her body shivered at the deadly sound as she had never seen his worst side. Locking his eyes dangerously with hers, he clicked his glass against her, declaring a serious warning.
“Do that and I will devastate you in a way you won’t be able to recover, Peach Harrison,"
She was left still. She wanted to retort but the direness dripping made her silent.
Exhaling, after delivering a warning, William noticed it had been a while Arabella went upstairs and hadn’t returned.
He decided to check, glancing in her direction and turned to leave.
“Now, why don’t you go and check on your buddy?”
Peach noticed and cursed under her breaths, taking out her phone to call Luke and let him know William was coming.
He was about to leave but decided to make an insensitive remark that stole words from her tongue.
“Luke must be searching- Oh, why would he? You are the last woman he wants to see,”
And those words stopped her.
She almost called Luke but was halted when he heartlessly showed her position in his heart, wiping the sly smirk too.
“Now if you excuse me, Miss Harrison, I must return to my exquisite woman,”
When he left, she stared at the screen, tightening her grip on the phone with a clenched jaw and put it back with a disheartening thought.
‘Well, what can I say? I am a side character in my own life,’
Back to Arabella and Luke who were confronting each other, where she was determined to tell him who became the destroyer of their relationship.
“It was-”
“Bella! Come here,”
But unfortunately she could speak, William’s voice rang through the empty corridor.
Halting her breaths, scaring her to perceive how infuriated he must be.
All she had to do was whisper one name- she didn’t, she couldn’t.
“Bella!”
“Shit. I must leave,”
“Why? Say the name. It’s just a name. Tell me,”
She stopped. Glanced at the door and back at the hopeless Luke.
“No. Not now,”
Cursing under her breaths, she turned to leave but was stopped by Luke who held her wrist.
“Wait, wait, answer one last thing,”
She hissed in a hurry, holding the doorknob, “What now? I have to leave, William is here,”
“Do you still love me?”
And he asked what immobilized her.
Swallowing the lump in her throat, she wiped the final tears and murmured under her breath hurriedly.
“I will try to tell Peach everything, if you can convince her to meet me. You want the truth, I will give it you, I cannot guarantee about anything else,”
“Arabella,”
His grip tightened on her wrist, hovering over her as he ended up kissing her forehead with all his heartily desire.
“Even if I wasn’t the best boyfriend, I have loved you with all my heart,”
Shutting her eyes, she hastily ran out of the room, controlling her heartbeats and weakness collecting in her body.
Her mind shut down and in that rush, she ended up bumping into William, pouring all his drink on him.
“Arabella-”
William sighed, frowning when she ruined his immaculate coat that he arranged to have similar style.
“What? Can you not let me rest for two moments? My head is bursting,”
“I have to keep an eye on my most precious thing, don’t I? What if you escape?” He smirked, leaning forward to poke her cheek.
“I wish,”
“And look what have you done, you did this, you will clean it up,”
Her mouth gaped in disapproval, “Huh? Why would I?”
“Because I said so, now come with me,”
