Chapter 11 To Convince Her
At the workplace, Arabella prayed for the time to pass as quickly as possible and William would stop bothering her with his vicious desires where she was cornered with an undesirable situation.
‘If I tell Luke or Helena, will they believe me?’ She thought, almost falling into a daze which was halted when Warren called her strictly.
“What happened? Where are you lost?”
“Nothing, Sir,”
She shook her head, listening quietly as he cleared his throat, wearing his coat and grabbing his bag.
"Hmph, I thought you are capable but you are just..." He made a sour face, scanning her, "Below average,"
Forming her lips in a thin line, she averted her gaze only to catch his next muttering.
"I guess, Boss was wrong about you."
She absentmindedly asked, "What did he say?"
"Nothing,"
“I am leaving for my meeting. When I return, I want all the records of our transactions happening in the past year on my table, you hear?” He ordered sternly.
“Yes, Sir,”
After Warren left, she gathered all the records and began to arrange them in a chronological order, hoping to focus entirely on work so it would work as a reprieve.
But to her misfortune, the man who owned her company now entered without caring about anything, disturbing her whole being while being playful.
“Warren is seriously making you work your ass off, isn’t he?”
“Why are you here?” She hissed, not bothering to glance at the man behind her.
“Excuse me, Miss Dew, I am your Boss’ boss. The Owner of this company, I can come and go whenever I want,”
He chuckled darkly and the second creaking sound of the door being closed reached, she shivered.
Leaning against the table, fretfully holding her shirt, she dared to confront the man in his handsome three piece suit, hands resting his pocket as he approached her with a hunting gaze.
“If you continue to bother me then I will tell Luke everything about what you said and did, William,” She whispered weakly, displeased to be alone in the cabin with him.
Uncaring, he stopped right before her, arching an eyebrow perfectly as an indication that none statements could alter his perception.
Growing desperate when he showed no reaction, she continued nonetheless.
“You know how much he praises and respects you, all of it will shatter after knowing his brother’s sinful intentions towards his lover-”
“Will you please stop saying ‘lover’ because as far as I know, you guys are not official.”
Before she could plead with him further to halt his obstinacy, he merely liberated a mocking chuckle, waving his hand in the air to shrug her off.
“Luke hasn’t accepted before anyone that he is dating, Rumors fly else both of you are regarded as single,”
“Whatever we do or keep our relationship a secret is none of your concern. Stop interfering, William,” She hissed.
“If you think Luke will marry you then let me snap this delusion for you. He won’t. I know my brother, I know how I have brought him up,” He breathed out as calmly as possible.
“He is impatient, elusive, hot-headed, possessive, he even doubts you, do you even know that?”
“No, no, no, you are lying,”
She forced herself to be stubborn but deep down- she knew he was not lying.
Infuriated to hear these words, she shifted to leave his unwanted shadow that was inducing thoughts which never crossed before.
Appearing before her, he took a dangerous step that made her step stumble and grab the table as support with barely composure breaths.
Towering over her, harshly holding his urge to hold her at bay, he hissed in a low tone, hitting her most sensitive spot.
“And if that is not enough, do you want me to recall what happened before I left? He wasn’t there when you were whimpering and crying, Arabella, I was-”
“Luke has changed in the past two years. He is not the man he was two years ago. He is taking life seriously now.”
Shutting her eyes, she shook her head in denial, voice lost its strength when he threw reality on her face.
Cutting him off hurriedly, desperately, endeavoring to convince herself more than him.
Gritting her teeth to suppress her tears, she whimpered, refusing to believe in him.
“You are wrong, William,”
“Really?”
Sighing with a compassionate glimpse, he placed his index finger under her chin, lifting it.
Forcing her to open her watery eyes that induced a tingle in his chest which he subdued and whispered softly.
“Maybe you have restricted him so much to the point he asked me to go to London and earn a reprieve from you,”
“Stop trying to manipulate me, Luke can’t do this,” She growled, slapping his hand away.
“William has done everything for me now I want to go and show him… Isn't that what he must have said before leaving, right?” He smirked heartlessly.
“No, I.. Uh.. He…” She couldn’t forge a sentence properly anymore.
Curling her hand in a powerless fist when he left her at a vulnerable position.
Tears brimmed, forcing herself to not believe in him although these statements had begun to entangle her cognition.
Failing to endure the weight of his words, her voice broke.
“Stop lying to me, William, your words are hurting me now. Snap out of it,”
“Bella, Bella, Bella,”
Harshly pulling away from her when she started sobbing, staring at him to seek compassion and not agonize her further.
He held his sides from frustration and yelled, “Why don’t you fucking get it?!”
Flinching, covering her mouth, she fell on the nearby seat, too weakened to confront him at this point.
The tears she held back so far spilled, unable to hear further yet becoming senseless, William continued outrageously.
“If he is so damn sincere to you then why hasn't he told anyone!? Even me!? Where is his dignity?!”
“Stop creating drama in my office, William,” She cried.
Not daring to lift her teary gaze as he stood before her assertively, growling mindlessly to slip the condition of his heart in between.
“Let them hear because unlike your beloved Luke I am not afraid to express my feelings. At least not anymore.”
