'Somewhere in the middle of our happy moments, we all sign a little in the memory of someone we miss!:(
...................................................
Kathleen walked towards her classroom in a grumpy attitude. She was knocked over by the incident that took few moments ago. Right now, she should have been happier and thank EJ for saving her from an accident.
But, on the other hand, Kathleen was grouchy. She smashed her phone by dropping it to the ground. EJ has nothing to do with it. It was Kathleen who dropped the phone when EJ pulled her off from the pathway.
But, she couldn't accept the fact that she has lost the only thing her dad has ever gifted with love. Her dad gave the phone for her birthday when when finally accepted on going to the Howard University and taking up Engineering and architecture for the next few years.
Kathleen entered the classroom and found it empty except for the two love birds who were busy romancing at the right corner of the classroom. She had no idea about what happened to the class.
'What a awful day!! First I get saved by the only person I never wanted to see and have been avoiding for the past one week and then broke my fucking phone, which I wished it would last long. Now, I don't know what happened to this fucking class.
It just disappeared in thin air all of sudden and I get to see that two of classmates making out ahead me. I haven't received any message regarding the cancelation of classes. Oh,right!! My phone has been broken and I totally forgot about it. What a wonderful day to cherish', Kathleen cursed herself.
Finally, she decided to stop their making out session.
"Ahmmm, Brenda, ??", announced Kathleen moving inside the classroom. On hearing her voice, they jerked off and pushed each other and came back to their senses.
"What?", she asked adjusting her hair.
"What happened to the class?", questioned Kathleen, looking around.
"You don't know?? All the students were informed to be present in the conference hall and few were informed to go to auditorium. Since, there is an intercollegiate event that is about to take place next week. Maybe, we are invited to be part of it", she finishes her narration.
"Well, thank you. I didn't know all this!! Catch you up, later", Kathleen thanked her and left the classroom. She was perplexed on finding her girls. She didn't know if they were at the conference hall or the auditorium since the places are present in two different directions. She couldn't contact them as well.
'What the fuck do I do? where should I go now?? I can't know where the girls are!! and what Janice and Laura would be doing??
Can I walk to the audition or the conference hall?? Let me think , it takes 12 minutes from here to reach the auditorium while it takes 15? minutes to reach the conference hall by walking at snail's pace!! What do i do now? Fine, auditorium, here I come!!', Kathleen thought herself and started walking in the direction of auditorium.
.....................................
It was her first visit to the auditorium. It was enormous, grander and taller, the architecture was?magnificent and could accommodate all the university students within it. She looked around keenly. The auditorium was partially filled with students from all the departments and they were standing in groups. Kathleen watched around to find her friends.
"Hey, Kath", she could hear Laura's voice behind her. She turns around to find Laura, Noah and Janice walking towards her. Janice looked upset and her eyes carried a mixture of worry and they were constantly searching someone. Kathleen felt relieved on seeing them. She let out a deep breath.
"How many times do we have to call you? And every time I tried, it went straight to your voice mail", stated Noah.
"It's a long story!! From now on, I'll be 'out of network coverage'", signed Kathleen, showing her phone.
"What the fuck??", yelled Laura while Kathleen showed no reaction.
"Oh, well!! Someone is also having a worse day other than me", said Janice with a disappointed look.
"How did it happen??", questioned Noah, taking the phone from her hand.
"Long story!!", Kathleen narrates them the incident that took place in the morning. Laura, Janice and Noah were utterly dumbfolded.
"So, you tell me that EJ has saved you from an accident!! And you expect me to believe this?", Noah looked confused.
"Why do I have to lie, Noah?", chided Kathleen with a stern face.
"The fact is he is a cold blooded human being. He has never ever saved or cared anyone before. He only makes their life harder. I have seen enough in the campus and in our dormitory. So, now, I find it surprising to hear this", explained Noah.
"Whatever", Kathleen rolled her eyes.
"But, kath!! You can't blame him for your phone. It was you who dropped it on the ground. All he did was to save you and you treated him like that. Seriously, Kath, I didn't expect this", claimed Laura.
"Yeah, Kath!! I think you should apologize to him and thank him", agreed Janice.
"What? No way!!", announced Kathleen
"Hold on, what has got into you? You look distressed??", questions Kathleen.
"Nothing!! I'm fine", lied Janice.
"Come on, Jay!! Split it out", urges Laura.
"It's been a week !! And he is nowhere to find", confessed Janice.
"Who??", Kathleen asked doubtfully.
"I haven't seen Gerald ever since the incident that happened in the Cafeteria!! After the incident, I was very desperate in avoiding him, but as days passed on I started missing him. I couldn't see him anywhere around the campus. He is not attending his classes as well!! I don't know how to reach to him and I'm wondering whether he is fine!!", expressed Janice.
"Hey, Jay!! Don't overthink, just move on with the flow!! I'm sure he will show up within the next few days. I hope he got his own stuff to deal. Give him some time, Jay", said Kathleen with a smile.
"Noah, have you seen him anywhere? Dormitory?", asked Janice with hope.
"Actually, I belong to block A? in the dorm and he belongs to B?, I guess so!! I haven't seen him around as well", concludes Noah scratching his head.
"He will show up for sure!! Now, come on cheer up, Jay", kathleen shook Janice holding her shoulders.
"Once he shows up, I'll show him who am I!! I'll definitely make him pay for disappearing all of a sudden", grunted Janice.
"Trust me, Jay, if I was some multilingual person who knew the language- Korean, I would be singing anyone of the bts song, right now", joked Kathleen. Laura and Janice chuckled together at her comment.
"So, why are we here?", questioned Kathleen looking around. And she finds EJ hawking her at a distance from where she was standing right now!!
She doesn't know for how long he has been watching her like this. He was standing along with his friends and the girls were standing beside them. Robert wasn't found anywhere around.
Kathleen moved away trying to hide away from his sight .
"We are here for the committee selection. It happens here as well as in the conference hall. Each one should a be part of particular committee and contribute your work for upcoming intercollegiate event.
I think there are totally 16 committees and out of which 8 committees selection takes place here. And the other 8 selection happens in conference hall", concludes Noah.
"Woah, so there is lot we have been missing around. How do you all this, Noah?", asked Laura.
"Guys, I joined this university many months back. I'm not a freshman", said Noah.
"Yeah, now i get it", stated Kathleen. She looks around to check if he was still watching her and to her surprise, he stood there, arms crossed over his chest and was hawking at her. Her eyes widened in shock and she turns around immediately.
"Students, may I have your attention please!! I want you all to be seated !!", a lady at her mid 50's, standing near the podium, announced it over the microphone.
The students took up seats nearest to the place from where they were standing. Kathleen, Laura, Janice and Noah sat on the 3rd row nearer to the exit.
"I hope you all knew about the intercollegiate event that is about to happen in the future weeks. So I want you all to come forward and participate in all the committees and work together as a team, thus making this event a great success!! You can enter your name in more than two committees if you want", she announced .
"Hey, who is she??", asked Kathleen.
"She is Elizabeth winters, the faulty head of Howard's University school of business!!", said Laura. Kathleen mouthed a 'Oh'.
"So, students, you can either enter your names here or you can do that in conference hall for the other 8 committees as well. I'll read out the committees for which selection occurs here!!
? ?? ?? Admission committee
? ?? ?? Event planner group
? ?? ?? Media committee
? ?? ?? Guest / VIP committee
? ?? ?? Decoration committee
? ?? ?? Felicitation group
? ?? ?? Cultural committee
? ?? ?? Management Committee
Now, Ms. Ava and her team will give you people the Committee sheets, get it, fill it up and hand over it to them. From tomorrow on, you'll take part in those committees and spend your leisure time for the sake of our college. I expect 100 percent co-operation from you all", commands the faculty head, Elizabeth.
"What do I choose?", Laura was confused on hearing the list.
"I'm going to be a part of Felicitation group and present speeches whenever they want me", affirmed Janice.
"Great, maybe I'll try to be a part of cultural committee, I can dance, i can sing, i can do a skit, I hope", joked? Kathleen.
"Of course, you can!! I'm choosing event planner group, that suits me the best", said Noah.
"Fine. I'll stick to management committee", informed Laura.
"Maybe, we won't have to do a lot of work since we'll have a lot of members in our committees", assured Janice.
"Yeah, I think the same", kathleen guessed.
After few minutes, they filled up their sheets and gave it back to Ava, a third year student who belongs to Howard's University- school of law.
"Fine, fine, let's move back to our classrooms. I have got project work to carry out!! See you all at lunch", spoke up Laura.
"Hold on, how will I contact you, kath",asked Laura.
"I don't know. Maybe I'll use Noah's phone if I have to tell you something because we have statistics class together, before lunch hour", said Kathleen.
"Good, will catch you up later guys!!", jay waved a goodbye and left the auditorium.
In the meantime, she almost forgot the person who was hawking her for the past few minutes. She looks around to find EJ but he wasn't seen anywhere around. Kathleen and Noah walks towards their statistics class.
