Chapter 59
“Hi Billie how are you?” He recognised the soft and sexy voice of Nathalie. Her face and killer body came to mind. “Hello Nathalie.” He said simply.
“Listen I think we need to meet.” She was direct and straight to the point. Billie felt like he was the rabbit about to go down the hole. “I can set up a meeting for us all of course.” He offered as he played for time and downed a gulp of the strong alcohol.
“Just you and I Billie. You need to meet me on your own and without Jonathan knowing.” Nathalie idly tapped her pen on the desk in front of her. He could hear the tapping noise at the other end; it was irksome to say the least.
“What’s this about Nathalie? You can come to the offices anytime to discuss the project. It would be a pleasure.” He lied, knowing Jonathan would kill him and skin him based on their earlier dialogue.
“No Billie, it’s not about the project. I need your help with something else.” She smiled as she spoke, he could sense the shift in her tone. Now he was immediately on high alert.
“What is this about Nathalie? We have a professional relationship to maintain.” He responded.
“Stop playing for time Billie. You and I both know that there has been a sudden change of plan. I am assuming Jonathan has been a bit of a thunderbolt this morning and wants us out of the equation.”
He ran his hand through his hair. “Er, right there was some talk about it.”
“It’s regarding Clare. I need to meet with you and you are not to utter a word to him. Clare needs your help.” Nathalie bored of tapping away with her pen swivelled in her chair; she had not figured Billie for being quite so slow.
“Clare.” He almost spat out. “What has Clare got to do with our build project? Why do I keep hearing her name all of a sudden?” He looked at the bottle on his desk and decided he needed to put it away, he was in danger of finishing it before half ten.
“As I said,” Nathalie began smoothly, “we need to meet, and we need your help. I’ll give you the place to meet me, come on your own.” Her tone now more serious and direct.
Billie pondered for a few seconds. “It’s not like you even like the man, Billie. With everything he has done to you as his partner, you deserve a little revenge.” Her voice interrupted his thoughts; he made up his mind in a second. She was right. It was time to have revenge on Jonathan.
