Chapter One Hundred Sixty Seven
Anora worked with Roscoe, every day and Charlie was able to get some time in with Norberta as she left the nest whenever Roscoe took over to incubate the eggs. While the two dragons were doing well with their handlers especially once Roscoe got over his laziness, Anora couldn't help but be nervous as times were growing darker and darker in the wizarding world. She didn't know when the time to fight would come and she certainly wasn't sure if Roscoe and Norberta would be ready when the time would be called upon them. "Stop biting your nails, An." Charlie said pulling Anora's hand away from her mouth. "I can't help it." Anora admitted as she dropped her hands to her sides. "What are you so nervous about?" Charlie asked holding Stella in one arm and Eliza in the other as the twins were craving some father-daughter time. "You said Roscoe was the best this morning, the best he's ever been." "Yes and it's true," She responded. "But that's only him doing well here, and it's not like we're going up against anything, Charles. It's just been us here and home, not under threatening circumstances." "You shouldn't put this much stress on yourself, Anora. If you're getting this worked up, maybe we should consider someone else taking over." "No." She said sternly. "We know that's not going to work, especially with Roscoe. If we place another rider with him, it'll be the first time anyone has witnessed a dragon laughing. Besides, I'm not stepping down from this fight." She looked at her daughters that were resting against their father, Eliza's hand was holding onto her father's hair that was pulled back out of his face while Stella ran her hand over the man's scruffles. "I'm not going to let Stella and Eliza grow up in a world where people are being judged over something as silly as blood status. You heard what they're doing to the muggle-borns, having them register like they're some sort of farm animals. Claiming that they're stealing magic, what kind of nonsense is that? How could anyone steal magic, it's the dumbest thing I have ever heard. I'm not letting Stella and Eliza witness that. They should be allowed to befriend anyone despite their blood status. The wizarding world shouldn't like this, and to think this is what it's come down to. I'm amazed by people not putting up more of a fight." "They're scared, Anora-" "Then they are a bunch of cowards! Do they think sitting around and being scared, that leaving it upon others to solve the problems will fix it? It won't! People need to learn how to start taking action if they want things done." Charlie smiled before reaching a hand out and running it over Anora's hair, bringing her to look at him. He could sense her nerves and he knew deep down that she was just as scared as many of the wizarding folk. But she was right in the sense that she was actually doing something about it, she was going to fight or take a stand against the Dark Wizards. But he wished she wouldn't, he wished she would agree to stay with their daughters and vow to keep them safe by staying with them. Any possible chance of her getting hurt during a fight, brought Charlie to a state of nearly being sick to his stomach. He wanted to keep his girls safe under all circumstances. Her eyes met his as she smiled at him in return. "Sorry," she apologized softly. "I've just been letting everything get me so worked up lately. I just want everything to be okay with everyone. Is it too much to ask for some good news?" The two suddenly heard a tapping noise from the kitchen. "What in the world is that?" Anora asked taking Stella who was reaching out to her to be held. She walked into the kitchen with Charlie and Eliza behind her, to see an owl tapping at the window. "Who is sending letters? Do they not know how risky this all is?" Charlie said baffled as he reached out and opened the window with one hand. Anora grabbed the letter as the owl dropped it and flew off quickly. "Who is it from?" Charlie asked. "Hold on, can't you see me opening it?" Anora looked at him. "Proceed." Stella had managed to tangle her fingers in Anora's hair, making it all that more difficult for the young mother to focus on opening the envelope. "Apparently you want a fight," Anora grumbled at Stella as the child let out a small gurgling sound. "Be nice, Anora." Charlie said in a warning tone. "She started it, yet again!" She finally got the letter open and read over the first few lines before dropping the paper from her hands completely and letting out a small cry before turning back to Charlie. Charlie's eyes were wide in alarm and fear, terrified of the next few words that would leave Anora's mouth. "What?! What?!" Anora moved her hand that she had placed over her mouth for a few moments as she tried to collect herself. "Tonks is pregnant."
