Chapter 43 ~Whispers of New Beginnings
Chapter 43 ~Whispers of New Beginnings
The night continued with music, dance, and laughter. Vivaan and Ahana pulled Mia onto the dance floor, while Vaani and Aarav engaged in a playful banter about who could dance better. The elders sat around reminiscing about their younger days, while the younger ones ensured that the energy of the party never dropped.
As the clock struck midnight, the grand cake was brought out. It was a three-tiered masterpiece, decorated with elements representing Rudraksh's life—his medical profession, his love for travel, and of course, a little figurine of him and Mia on the top.
With a grin, Rudraksh cut the cake, feeding the first bite to Mia, who in turn fed him a piece as well.
"To the best year yet!" Animesh toasted, raising his glass. "To Rudraksh and the new beginnings ahead!"
Everyone clinked their glasses, sealing the night with love and warmth.
As the celebrations slowly died down and guests started leaving, Rudraksh and Mia found themselves standing under the twinkling fairy lights, holding each other close.
"Did you enjoy your birthday?" Mia asked softly, resting her head against his chest.
He kissed the top of her head. "Best one yet. Because I have everything I ever wished for—you and our little one."
And with that, the night ended, but their journey together had only just begun.
The morning light filtered through the sheer curtains of their bedroom, casting a warm golden glow across the room. Rudraksh stirred awake, feeling the soft weight of Mia's body curled against his side. A small smile tugged at his lips as he gently brushed a strand of her dark hair away from her face. The past few months had been a whirlwind—between the wedding, their honeymoon, and now the life-altering news of Mia's pregnancy, their lives had transformed completely.
Mia let out a soft groan and buried her face into his chest, her fingers clutching at his t-shirt. "Why is the sun so bright today?" she mumbled, still half-asleep.
He chuckled, pressing a kiss to her forehead. "Good morning to you too, Mrs. Shekhawat."
Mia peeked up at him with sleepy eyes. "Morning..." she murmured, before suddenly pulling away and clutching her stomach. Without another word, she bolted from the bed and dashed into the bathroom.
Rudraksh immediately sat up, concern etched across his features as he heard her retching. He quickly followed her, rubbing soothing circles on her back as she emptied her stomach into the sink. After a moment, she groaned and leaned against the counter, looking utterly exhausted.
"This nausea is killing me," she muttered, rinsing her mouth and reaching for a towel.
Rudraksh handed her a glass of water. "You need to eat something light in the morning. Doctor said an empty stomach makes it worse."
Mia nodded weakly, allowing him to guide her back to bed. As she lay down, he pulled the covers over her and kissed her temple. "Stay here, I'll bring you something to eat."
Mia groaned in protest. "But I want a cheese toast."
He sighed, amused. "Doctor said no cheese in the morning. How about dry toast and some apple slices?"
She pouted but reluctantly agreed. "Fine. But don't forget my orange juice."
He nodded and left the room, heading to the kitchen where the family was already gathered. Tusha, Chirag, and Vaani were having breakfast, and as soon as they saw him, they knew what was up.
"Morning sickness again?" Vaani asked with a teasing grin.
Rudraksh rolled his eyes as he grabbed the bread. "What do you think?"
Chirag chuckled. "Welcome to the world of soon-to-be fatherhood, brother. This is just the beginning."
Tusha smiled warmly. "She's going through a lot, Rudraksh. Be patient with her mood swings."
He nodded, determined to do everything he could to make this journey easier for Mia. As he prepared the light breakfast, he couldn't help but smile to himself. Their lives were about to change forever.

As the days passed, Mia's mood swings became more unpredictable. One moment she was laughing uncontrollably, and the next, she was in tears over something as simple as a misplaced book.
Rudraksh returned home one evening to find Mia sitting cross-legged on the bed, sobbing into a pillow. He rushed to her side, alarmed. "Mia, what happened?"
She sniffled and pointed to the floor. "I dropped my ice cream."
He blinked, glancing at the small puddle of melted ice cream on the floor. "That's it?"
She pouted. "It was the last tub of chocolate fudge! Now it's gone forever!"
Suppressing his laughter, he pulled her into his arms. "I'll buy you another one, sweetheart."
She hiccupped. "Promise?"
"Promise."
That seemed to cheer her up instantly, and she smiled brightly, kissing his cheek. "You're the best husband ever."

One of the funniest episodes happened when Mia suddenly decided she needed a very specific dish at two in the morning.
"Rudraksh," she whispered, nudging him awake.
He groaned, turning over. "Mia, it's late. Sleep."
She shook him harder. "I want rajma chawal."
His eyes flew open. "What? Now?"
"Yes! I need it, Rudraksh! The baby wants it!"
He stared at her in disbelief but knew there was no arguing. So, sighing dramatically, he got out of bed, put on a hoodie, and went to the kitchen. He spent an hour preparing the dish while Mia sat on the counter, watching him and humming happily.
When he finally placed the steaming plate in front of her, she took one bite and made a face. "Umm... I think I actually wanted aloo paratha."
Rudraksh nearly lost his mind.

Despite the chaos, there were moments that made all the craziness worth it. Like the time he felt their baby kick for the first time.
Mia had been lounging on the couch when she suddenly gasped, grabbing his hand. "Rudraksh! Feel this!"
He pressed his palm to her belly, and a moment later, he felt it—a tiny, fluttering movement beneath his touch.
His eyes widened in awe. "Mia..."
She smiled through tears. "Our baby."
He cupped her face, kissing her softly. "I love you."
Mia rested her forehead against his. "And I love you... and our little one."
In that moment, every sleepless night, every mood swing, and every bizarre craving felt completely worth it.
Their new chapter had just begun.
