The Blood in the Walls
The Blood in the Walls
1993 — The Restaurant
Gary sat outside a small restaurant, younger, vulnerable, hands shaking slightly.
Rain misted through the night, catching in the glow of the street lamps.
A woman approached him—
and Elliott’s breath caught.
“Mom…” he whispered.
Rebecca, younger, nervous, her eyes shifting anxiously.
She sat across from Gary.
“I’m pregnant,” she whispered. “And it can’t be happening. I’m just a maid. At the hotel. We met once—Gary… are you even listening?”
Gary didn’t react.
He just stared ahead—haunted.
Rebecca swallowed hard, unsure whether to keep the baby, unsure whether Gary even cared. The video blurred, then dissolved into static.
2010 — Linda’s Apartment
A knock.
Linda opened her small apartment door and froze when she saw Gary standing there—older now, exhausted, eyes sunken.
“What are you doing here?” she snapped, letting him inside.
He didn’t sit.
“I need… to talk about the inheritance,” he muttered. “About the people around me. They want my money. They want me dead.”
Linda scoffed, arms crossed.
“What did you expect, Gary? You built that mansion like a castle then filled it with snakes. You cheated on me with Veronika—got her pregnant—then dragged her into that place. What do you want from me now?”
Gary lifted his gaze.
“Maya told me Jesse isn’t mine.”
Linda froze.
A breath hitched in her throat.
“What is this? An interrogation?” she snapped. “He is your son. Do a test. You’ll see.”
Parking Garage — Two Days Later
Linda’s heels clicked sharply on the cement as she stormed toward Maya.
“You told him?!” Linda shouted.
“You told Gary that lie? That Jesse isn’t his? You want to break him, huh?”
Maya raised her hands. “Linda—”
“No. I’m done. I’m exposing you and Calvin and whatever you two are planning. You won’t take him down.”
Linda turned to leave.
A sharp crack.
Maya hit her from behind.
Linda collapsed to the concrete.
And then—
Maya knelt, wrapped her hands around Linda’s throat, and squeezed until the body fell still.
Later That Night
Maya and Calvin dragged Linda’s body back to her apartment, arranging her like a suicide.
Then the door opened—
Mark.
He froze.
“What the hell—”
He didn’t get to finish.
Calvin lunged, Maya swung a lamp, and within seconds, Mark was dead too.
Chloe’s Escape
Another video lit up.
Chloe running in the rain through the forest.
She looked terrified.
She reached a clearing—
and spotted Gary, Calvin, and Peter dragging a limp body.
Tyler.
Chloe gasped, turned to run—
A gunshot.
Calvin emerging from the shadows.
Sofia’s eyes widened.
“I knew it. Tyler wasn’t killed. They kept him here… hooked to Craig. Using his brain.”
She stared at the unconscious man on the metal bed.
Tyler’s pulse monitor blinked gently, almost pleading.
“And now…” Craig whispered.
A final screen lit up.
Elliott braced himself. Sofia held his arm.
The Night Gary Died
Jesse drove Gary down a dark rural road.
His face was wet with tears and rage.
“You killed her!” Jesse screamed. “You killed my mother! Your money, your empire—everything she hated—it destroyed her!”
“Jesse—listen to me—”
“Get out!”
Jesse kicked him out of the car and sped away, leaving Gary on the side of the road.
Gary staggered forward…
made a call…
then heard soft crying nearby.
A woman knelt by the ditch.
“Are you okay?” Gary asked, approaching her.
She lifted her face.
Marisol.
Before Gary could process—
A shadow appeared behind him.
A blade.
A stab.
Luca.
He stabbed Gary again, again, and again, then beat him until the body stopped moving.
The video froze.
Silence.
Elliott’s entire body shook.
“My father… my mom… all of them… all of you knew this?”
Sofia held her breath.
“The villains,” she said softly, “were never who the family believed. Jesse was violent. Yes. Dangerous even. But the legacy? The murders? The core of it? That was Calvin, Maya, Peter… and Tyler. The men who built the AI and murdered whoever knew too much.”
“And Craig…” Elliott whispered, staring at the blinking monitor.
“Craig knew everything.”
Sofia leaned close to the unconscious Tyler.
“No,” she said.
“It’s not Craig telling us this.
It’s Tyler.”
The lights flickered again.
Craig’s voice grew softer, like a man whispering through a machine:
“Do you want to see how this ends?”
Sofia grabbed Elliott’s hand.
“No,” she whispered.
“We need to get out before Craig shows us anything else.”
But the door behind them sealed shut.
And Craig whispered:
“Too late.”
Marisol — P.O.V.
Marisol pressed her back against the wall of the upstairs hallway, trying to steady her breath. The AI’s voice had gone strangely quiet, almost holding its breath.
Clara was behind her, pacing, biting her nails, whispering prayers her mother used to say.
Rebecca was downstairs with Officer Leila, pacing in front of the living room window, muttering about silhouettes and shadows moving just outside the frame. Every time a branch brushed the glass, she flinched.
Marisol swallowed hard.
Everything in the house felt wrong.
Too still.
Too watchful.
Like the walls themselves were waiting.
Rebecca (Downstairs)
Rebecca stood alone in the darkened hallway.
The others had gone quiet upstairs—too quiet.
Her fingers trembled as she approached the staircase.
She heard it first:
a whisper.
A soft shuffle.
A silhouette near the far corridor.
“Elliott…? Clara?” she whispered.
The silhouette didn't move.
It simply watched.
Rebecca stepped back slowly, hugging herself.
Clara’s Room
Clara finally stopped pacing.
She turned to Marisol—who stood in the doorway, head down, hair covering her face. Clara noticed her shoulders shaking.
“Marisol… hey…” Clara approached. “I know things are scary right now. Maybe it’s best if you go home tonight, okay? With everything happening, you need rest. I’ll call you tomorrow.”
Marisol didn’t lift her head.
“Marisol?”
A voice from down the hall:
“Clara?”
It was Officer Leila approaching.
Clara exhaled in relief and took a step toward the hallway—
—and then a blur of movement.
Leila staggered forward.
Her mouth opened, but no sound came out.
She collapsed face-first onto the hallway floor.
Clara screamed.
Leila’s back…
a knife buried deeply.
Blood spilling, spreading fast.
Clara stumbled back into the room.
Then—
Marisol lifted her head.
Her face was… wrong.
Too still.
Too calm.
Her eyes dead.
