The house Falls

The house Falls
Craig paced slowly in front of them, the firelight from the spreading blaze flickering across his tuxedo and the dark shades hiding what remained of his eyes. He prowled the room like a lecturer about to present his life’s greatest thesis.

“You want the truth?” he murmured.
“Then listen. Because everything everything that happened in this house… began long before any of you were born.”

No one spoke.
Even Luca watched his master with rigid attention.

Craig continued.

The mansion roared like a living beast as flames devoured its bones. Walls cracked. Support beams groaned. Smoke spiraled upward in violent waves.
Outside, Elliott dragged Clara toward the car, her breaths sharp, her arms wrapped protectively around her stomach. Alina supported her from the other side while police sirens shrieked in the distance.

“Where’s Erika?” Clara cried.

“She’s still inside,” Alina muttered, staring at the burning doorway.

Inside, Erika stood before Craig—his tuxedo scorched, his face half-melted, but still wearing that hideous, triumphant smile.

“You killed everyone,” Erika said, her voice shaking with equal fury and grief. “Every innocent life that touched this place will hunt you forever.”

Craig tilted his head.
Through the smoke, she saw the subtle movement: his wrist chains… loose.

His smile widened.

“I want to tell you something,” he croaked. “Come closer.”

Against her instincts, Erika stepped forward—slowly, cautiously.

Then his hand lunged around her throat.

He lifted her off her feet.

“You thought you could kill me?” he rasped. “You thought you could end what I built?”

Erika clawed at his fingers, gasping, the dropped gun rolling across the floor.

Craig laughed—mad, victorious.

But suddenly his grip faltered.

“When Gary first began courting Erika’s mother, he wasn’t looking for love. He was looking for value. Then he met Linda—Jesse’s mother. Wealthy. Tough. Trained in business.” He gave Linda’s name a cold laugh. “I told Gary we should build a mansion together. Combine our names. Our genius. But Gary… had other advisors.”

His smile twisted.

“Mark and Peter. His friends. They convinced him to outplay me. To take my blueprint. My vision. My life’s work—without me.”

Rami raised a trembling hand despite the gun aimed at him. “So Jesse… he’s actually your son?”

Craig turned sharply.

“Silence when I speak.”

The gunshot was sudden and brutal.

Craig fired directly into Rami’s leg.

Rami collapsed with a cry as everyone flinched.

“The next one,” Craig warned, “will be in your head.”

He resumed walking.

“Where was I? Ah—Calvin. A good man… at first. He pretended to be Gary’s friend. But when he saw how Gary bathed in jealousy and money, he came looking for me. He discovered I was alive… trapped underground… abandoned.”

Elliott’s jaw tightened.

Craig nodded at him.
“Yes. Calvin found me. I sent him a message. We conspired. We rebuilt my system. This system. And then, of course, we needed bait.”

He pointed a cold finger at Erika.

“You.”

Erika’s breath caught.

Craig smiled.
“Your family—the hair, the innocence, the resilience—you were the perfect thread to pull them all into my design.”

He gestured toward the house around them.

“We built this mansion together: me, Calvin, and Tyler—before Gary tried to bury us.”

Rami groaned, bleeding. “You used Calvin for your dirty work…”

Craig snapped again.

Another gunshot blasted into the floor inches from Rami’s head.

Everyone screamed.

“I said,” Craig hissed, “Silence.”

He lifted his chin proudly.

“Luca is Maya’s son. Gary never knew. He thought he was being generous giving Calvin and Maya the annex. Luca seduced Veronika. Then Linda. They infiltrated everything while remaining invisible. But there was one problem… one flaw…”

Jesse whispered weakly: “Erika.”

Craig grinned.
“Exactly.”

He approached Erika, Clara, and Alina—crouching between the two tied women.

“I killed the maid. Mark. Peter. I got rid of Linda myself.”
His voice lowered.
“But you, Erika… you blondes are always my weakness.”

He brushed Clara’s hair, then Alina’s.

“Blondes… easy to manipulate. Poor Molly—dumb as rocks. But redheads…”

He turned his gaze to Rebecca.

“…are fierce. Sharp. Dangerous. That’s why Gary got you pregnant, Veronika. His first and only legitimate child.”

Without hesitation—

BANG.

Craig shot Rebecca in the head.

Clara screamed.
Alina flinched.
Elliott roared in agony.

Erika froze.

Craig stood calmly, gun smoking.

He turned to Erika again.

“And brunettes…” He lifted her chin. “Brunettes fight back.”

He grabbed her, pressing the barrel to her ribs.

“This house is mine. Always was. And now there is only one heir left.”

He pointed the gun at Clara’s belly.

“That one.”

Clara sobbed, gripping the armrests.

Erika gasped. “What do you want from me?”

Craig smiled warmly, as though asking for tea.

“A test.”

“What test?” Erika whispered.

“You’re a nurse, yes? Do a mammography on her. Right here. Right now. If it’s a boy… I kill her. If it’s a girl… maybe she lives.”

Alina’s breath trembled. “Luca—”

Craig ignored them all.

“Go get your kit.”

Erika walked slowly, heart pounding.
On the stairs, she caught Elliott’s eye.

He was alive. Barely.
He winked.

She pretended not to see.

She grabbed the kit from the cupboard.
Craig watched her like a hawk.

She returned and knelt beside Clara.

“Lay her down,” Erika said softly.

Craig nodded for Luca to release her.

Clara lay trembling as Erika pressed the machine to her belly.

The house groaned with heat; flames licked the walls.

“Hurry,” Craig growled. “We’re out of time.”

Erika swallowed.

“It’s twins.”

Craig blinked.

“What?”

“A girl,” Erika said.
“And…”

Craig leaned forward eagerly.

“And??”

“A boy.”

Craig smiled—euphoric.

“At last—balance.”

He raised the gun, aiming directly at Clara’s stomach.

Then—

The lights exploded into darkness.

“What the—?!”

Erika grabbed a torch and blasted it straight into Craig’s eyes.

He screamed, clutching his face, shades falling off.

Luca lunged—

Erika grabbed the heart compressor from the kit and slammed it into Luca’s chest at full force.

Luca gasped—

Collapsed.

Dead.

Elliott crawled down the stairs.

Clara stumbled to her feet, grabbing one gun.

Erika snatched another.

They aimed both at Craig.

Craig hissed, blind.

“My shades…”

“You won’t need those,” Erika said coldly.

Suddenly—

BANG.

A shot from the floor.

Luca—barely clinging to life—had grabbed a fallen gun, firing wildly.

Rami leaped in front of Erika.

The bullet hit him in the chest.

“NO!” Erika screamed.

Rami staggered, smiling weakly.
“I’m going… to join Sofia…”

He collapsed.

The fire surged, swallowing the corridors.

Erika, Clara, Alina, and Elliott tied Craig to a pillar as smoke filled the room.

Together, wounded and shaking, they watched the man behind every death struggle against his own fate.

His eyes flickered.

He dropped her.

Erika collapsed to her knees, coughing violently.

Craig reached down, grabbing a pistol fallen from Luca’s corpse.

“You know what my secret is?” he hissed, leveling the gun at her forehead.
“Why I kept you alive longer than the others?”

Erika trembled.

Craig’s voice lowered to a funeral whisper.

“I am your father.”

Her eyes widened—shattered, horrified, unbelieving.

“And now—”

A deafening boom from the collapsing structure shook the floor beneath them.

Before he could finish, before he could pull the trigger—

Alina burst into the room.

“ERIKA!”

She sprinted through fire and collapsing plaster, grabbed her sister by the arm, and pulled her up. Craig raised the gun—

A burning beam plunged from the ceiling, crashing between them.
Fire swallowed Craig’s legs, then climbed his torso like a hungry stain.

He didn’t move.
Didn’t scream.
Just watched them through melting eyes.

Erika stared back, frozen.

Alina yanked her again. “Move!”

Together they fled as the mansion caved in, flames meeting in roaring triumph.

Outside, policemen rushed toward them.
Alina held Erika tightly as they watched the last standing structure of Blackwood Mansion collapse inward—a final sacrifice and a final grave.

“What did he tell you?” Alina asked quietly.

Erika’s face was blank.

“Nothing,” she whispered. “Nothing that matters. We’re good.”

And together, they watched the house built in their blood… burn itself clean.

EPILOGUE — Two Weeks Later

The prison yard buzzed quietly as inmates lined up for their hour outside.
Jesse stepped out last—thinner, bruised, eyes harder than before.

He stopped when he saw them.

Erika.
Alina.
Elliott—holding a soft blanket with two sleeping babies inside.

For a long minute, Jesse said nothing.
His throat bobbed.

“What do you all want?” he muttered, trying to mask the warmth rising in his face. “Didn’t expect the whole circus to visit me.”

Erika stepped forward.

“Jesse,” she said gently. “This is Elliott—your brother.”

Elliott lifted the infants slightly.
“And your two nephews.”

Jesse blinked hard.
A genuine smile broke through, small but real.

“My nephews,” he repeated. “Damn.”

Erika continued, “Your lawyer did it. He managed to reduce your charges. You’re getting out soon.”

Jesse froze.

“Really?”

She nodded.
“Even after everything you did… you’re still blood.”

They walked away together through the gates.
Alina and Elliott headed to the car first, giving the siblings a moment.

As Erika stepped toward the exit, her lawyer caught up to her.

“Did you tell them?” he asked quietly.

She paused.
“Tell them what?”

“That you’re not their sister,” he said. “That you were… their cousin.”

Erika’s breath hitched. She looked back at the three figures ahead—Alina leaning on Elliott, Jesse walking slowly behind them.

“No,” she said softly.
“For me… they are my siblings.”

She stepped into the sun, walked to the car, climbed in, and shut the door.

The engine started.

The car drove away.

And the story of Blackwood burned into silence at last.
