Chapter 39 Falling In His Arms
With a grunt, I followed him inside. The moment I did, the silence eveloped me, drawing me further inside. The place was huge, floor to ceiling windows stretched across the living room revealing a pool outside, the glistening blue water was beautiful.
My fingers brushed the back of the leather couch as I walked further in. A hockey stick leaned against the wall. This was Barth’s world and it was beautiful yet somewhat intimidating.
“You met with my mother,” He said, pulling me out of my thoughts. “Without telling me.”
I spun around, my eyes darting around the room. I didn’t know what to say. One minute I was angry, the next I’m speechless.
“Barth, I-I had to. She—”
“Had to what?” He snapped, walking closer towards me. I took a step backwards, landing on the couch. “Convince you that she was looking out for you by leading you to look for the truth? Do you even realize what you have done?”
“I didn’t do anything!” I snapped back.
Why was he getting angry? I was the one who lost my father in this web of deception not him!
“She asked to meet with me and I did and I just find out that my father died because of my mother and you are trying to blame me for finding out the truth!”
My cheat heaved up and down due to the weight of my emotions as we stared down at each other. A thick silence stretched between us.
Barth sighed deeply and ran his fingers through his hair before sitting down beside me. “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have yelled at you like that, I’m just angry at the fact you met with my mother without informing me first. You don’t know anything about her and how dangerous she is.”
“Are you sure she is dangerous or that’s what your father made you believe?”
My question made him pinch his brows.
“What do you mean?”
I inhaled sharply. The close proximity between us was making my stupid heart race. Not now!
“She told me your father had threatened her to leave. She didn’t want to let you know how he had treated her because she saw how highly you thought about him-”
“So, she left. And you believed her and you are trying to justify her actions?” He said, letting out a low chuckle which made me blink.
“No, that’s not-”
He held his hand and stopped me.
“Yvonne, it’s bad enough you went to see her without anyone knowing. Don’t try to become a peacemaker to patch I and my mother’s relationship. Don’t.”
His harsh tone made me flinch, then he looked at me, making my stomach sink.
“Do you know how dangerous and stupid your actions today are? You could have gotten hurt!”
“But, I’m not. I… I didn’t know what to do,” I muttered, heaving a sigh. “I couldn’t stay in that house. I… just couldn’t and so I called you.”
For a long moment, we just stared at each other. The air felt heavy with tension and unsaid words. Suddenly, he reached out to me, pulling me close. His chest pressed against mine.
I could feel the hard details that were covered by his chests, my nipples painfully hardened against my bra as I stifled a moan.
“Yvonne…” He whispered, his minty breath falling on my lips making me shiver. “You’re impossible. No matter how hard I try to run from you, you make it more difficult.”
I didn’t know what to say so I bit on my lower lip, his eyes darkened instantly.
“You have no idea what you do to me, do you?” He asked, his voice low. “You made a big mistake by calling me and not staying home.”
I felt hot. I couldn’t even breathe! I swallowed hard, trying hard to keep my eyes on him but my mind was screaming at me.
Kiss him!
I didn’t care anymore about the do’s and don’t’s. Despite how my mind was in chaos, I still craved his touch. The touch of the son of the man who had led my father to his death. How more ironic could this even get?
“I don’t care anymore, Barth.”
That one statement seemed to make him snap as his lips crashed against mine. Slow, and sensual at first. His soft lips against mine. The sweet, savour feeling made me let out a soft moan against his lips.
Then, it became hungry and urgent. His tongue poked on my lips and I opened. Our tongues lapping and flapping against each other, fighting for dominance. His hand went to the back of my head. He took a fistful of my hair and drew me closer.
Soon, I was on top of him, straddling him. My hands in his hair, his hard, muscular chest, and on his face as we kissed. This wasn’t like the usual kisses we had. This one felt raw, was filled with earnest longing and passion.
I felt something hard poking against my trousers and I moved, earning a deep throaty groan from him. Our lips detached with a ‘pop’ as we stared at each other.
“We should stop,” He murmured.
I shook my head. “You won’t.”
Barth smiled, his hands roaming around my body. From my back, my curves. He kissed me again, briefly before moving down my neck to the sensitive spot behind my ear.
“Barth…” I moaned softly, closing my eyes, clutching his arms, feeling the heat radiating from his body.
He paused and looked deeply into my eyes. “I’m not playing games with you, Yvonne. If we do this, it’s all in… do you understand?”
I nodded frantically, breathing hard, feeling the urgent ache and need between my thighs. “Yes… I understand. I want this… I want you.”
He pressed me fully against me and kissed me with abandon while I held on to the him. The penthouse filled with the sounds of our hot make out. He carried me up the stairs, still not breaking the kiss.
Kicking the door open, he dropped me to the bed, pulling back. “You’re mine!”
