After I changed into the clothes he lent me I went out with Cr. He lent me a black pajama and thick t-shirt. The dress is big for me but it's okay. When I went to his car he was just standing there wearing a new polo. He looks like he's carrying clothes to his office.
"Come on? Where is your house?" he whispered as he opened the door.
"Aurora Street, near the coffee shop," I answered.
I felt my heart in an abnormal beat. Maybe it was carrying coffee so I was nervous. They always say that. Coffee drinkers will be nervous.
I didn't notice that he had already entered and fastened his seatbelt. He suddenly stopped and he was about to move forward but I immediately preceded him. I took the seatbelt and fastened it. I forgot.
I heard him sneeze as if embarrassed. I don't like what I'm doing as a child. I can do it myself for him to do that. The ride was quiet, it was a bit far and it was still raining heavily. The area where I live is flooded quickly so it's a good thing my house is a bit high so it can't get water.
I couldn t help but look at Zeke's hand while driving. Now I just noticed his hand a lot of green stuff... What the hell! What am I thinking about?
"About the papers, it's up to me to give it to uncle," he said quickly.
I just ignored him, but I noticed in my peripheral vision that he's looking at me. I was slowly falling asleep and almost bumped into the window. I noticed that the road we were on was flooded which he also passed, others parked the car on the road. We were close to home because I noticed that the coffee shop closed immediately. It turned right and I didn't make a mistake, it was flooded and there was a good chance that his car would stop.
"I'm just here. Your car might not be able to pass." I was about to remove the seatbelt when it touched my hand.
"It's okay, it's still a bit shallow. I also left the umbrella so you might get wet when you run," he said softly then continued driving.
We passed and stopped right in front of my house. I immediately removed the seatbelt then confronted him. "Thank you. D-Don't forget to take your medicine later. A-Auntie Ez—"
"Hm. I've drunk before. Thanks," he thanked and even without smiling his lips changed his look.
I never heard what he said because I ran out and entered the gate. I never locked that because of the rush. It was only then that I breathed a sigh of relief when I entered my house. The light was just on and there I realized it was almost dies. Too much time just wasted. I didn't change my clothes because I was lazy, I just stuffed bread and that's all I ate. So I don't want to be allowed into the house, I can't feed the guest a snack. The refrigerator is full of eggs and frozen food.
The rain is still pouring hard. He is on the road now. At eleven o'clock when I turned off the light, I went to bed because I was drowsy, good thing because I could fall asleep quickly. But that was a totally insane. I'm just dreaming of sleeping but the truth is I can't sleep.
I just stared at the clock which was almost one o'clock in the morning. I want to close my eyes but don't want to. I don t know how to sleep early.
I ended up at the kitchen, wondering if I would have coffee or not. I opened the curtain on window because I can see something strange. My eyes almost widened when I saw Zeke's car still there. I don t know if he s inside. I immediately grabbed the two umbrellas and then pulled them out. I'm sure it's his car because no one is parking in front of my house.
I felt annoyed at him for the unknown reason. Why isn't he leaving yet?
I knocked on his glass on the front seat, I waited for the window to open but nothing. I broke the damp window then bent down and peeked into it. For the first time I could clearly see the depth of his breathing, it was closed and the whole body was leaning on the chair with both arms crossed. Is he asleep yet? I looked to the left where we came from, the water was high in that submerged part, up to that man's waist and fortunately my house was on a relatively high part.
I knocked again and this time louder than before. Exhausted I looked down its window, there our eyes met. Drowsiness was obvious in his eyes due to the blinking and weak yawning.
"Y-Yes Ma'am?" sleepy it says.
"Oh." I reach for an umbrella. "S-Sleep at home. Maybe I'll catch up with you that morning. It's still my fault when you get sick," I whispered in the last part. "A-Annika? ... is it okay?"
"Does it look like I'm going to knock you here if it's not okay with me? Hurry up," I said and walked away from him.
I went straight to the gate and noticed his follow, I lowered the umbrella and I couldn't help but knit because everything I do he imitates including my removal of slippers. I noticed his gaze wandering around the house. I just included him here and this is the last one.
I couldn t help but feel scared especially every time our eyes met. He's a man and I'm a woman, I know men, they're all barren, so there's a good chance— no!
"Damn!" I rubbed my forehead.
I heard deep breathing behind me. Shit! Is he still standing there?
"Is there a problem?"
I bit my lip then shook. "I'll just fix up a room."
"Ah, no. I'm fine here on the floor," he said so I faced him.
"Why on the floor if you can on the bed?" I whispered causing it to cringe at me. "I mean, in bed you sleep not here on the floor because it's cold." I turned my back on it and then opened the room next to me, it was clean, I just took a blanket and two pillows from the cabinet for him to use.
I was about to leave the room just as he arrived. "Don't you need anything else?" I said nothing as he rolled his eyes.
It swallowed then looked down at me. "No more. Go to sleep, good night," he said softly and I removed my gaze.
I entered the room and then dropped the body, until now I was still nervous, I let the nervousness dominate me until I fell asleep. I woke up and quickly rolled my eyes, I noticed it was sunny and it was already dyes in the morning. I took a shower right away because I didn't want to face someone who hadn't taken care of me yet. As I dried my hair I took a deep breath. I don t know what I m going to cook, but there s no reason to make the morning special.
I picked up the cell phone, I didn't feel like knocking but no one opened it. Surprisingly, its earlyn he wakes up so why doesn't he open it? I decided to open the door but I saw an empty room. Where is he? I immediately closed the door and stepped out.
"Did he go home yet? No manners. He didn't even say goodbye," I whispered as I walked to the kitchen.
I quickly stopped when I saw the plates on the table, I quickly went and only then came a variety of food to me. I turned around to find where he was but it was gone. But I noticed something violet sticky note in my cup.
"What is this?" I asked myself.
I sat down on the chair and raised my right foot then read it.
[I didn't say goodbye, you seem to be sound asleep. I cooked something that you want. I noticed that the contents of your refrigerator are full of frozen food and it's bad for you. Don't hesitate to eat those food, I didn't put anything there. Thank you for the night. Have a great day. Good morning.]
I stared at the emptiness before laying the sticky note on the table. The amount running in my brain. Thank you for the night? Excuse me? I'm busy then thank you? Then he didn't even apologize for what his co-worker did.
I already ate, he cooked a lot so I deliberately didn't consume it so that I could have something to eat tonight. I really admired those people who can cook. I know I m learning to cook, but no matter what I do I can t get it. I stopped eating when Aunt Summer s number registered so I answered it right away.
"Aunt?"
[Hey, good morning. Are you busy?] she asked and I could still hear the fragile ones.
"No, why?" to my surprise I then drank water.
[You have a visitor here. Actually he was earlier ...]
"All right. Please tell me to just wait," I replied and then said goodbye.
I hurried to act, because this week I wore only simple gray cargo pants and a white fitted t-shirt, I just dyed a black hat and left. It was almost eleven o'clock when I arrived at the mansion, and he did not even pick me up at the airport. When I went inside the crowd opened up to me, as I expected. Today is Sunday, most of them are not working so they are staying here. The visitor stood up then smiled and approached me, I automatically smiled a little too then met his kiss on the cheek.
"Hey! That's not allowed, there are adults oh," Lucas pulled Kevin's hand which made him laugh.
I swallowed when I noticed the smile of my aunts, I immediately took an apple to the center table because I was still hungry.
"What time are you still here?" I asked then raised my foot on the sofa.
"9:30 I guess? It's a good thing they're here Zeke," he said smiling as he sat down next to me.
My chewing slowed down, meaning, has Zeke been here before? But I didn't notice him, he must be here in the living room too.
"What did you go for? You didn't even call me when you were already at the airport," I said softly as I took a bite.
"Why? Will you pick me up?"
"No," I said directly.
He just laughed, he is also used to it and is no different from the people here in the mansion, he was Zeke's classmate in college and was with me in America when I was being treated. He said a lot more about why he came here, the company where they work Lucas offered him a job. His life is in America but it looks like he will accept the offer.
I stopped chewing when a man just got home who looked new bath because there is still a towel around the neck. It stopped and looked at me. I immediately averted my gaze, I didn t know if I was smiling or what.
"Good morning," Zeke greeted still standing.
I ignored it because maybe he was greeting someone else. "Good morning Maru," Lucas replied next to Kevin who laughed softly but he looked at me.
"Fvck you!" I whispered.
"Did you eat the ones I cooked before?" his question still echoed in the living room.
I just closed my eyes. I want to slap him because of what he asked in front of them. I really want to forget what happened yesterday, hell!
"Yeah, thanks," I replied simply.
He sat in front of us and was obviously just staring while drying her hair.
"Heavy rain last night, right? It's nice to do something, what did you do, Annika and Zeke?" Lucas asked, breaking my heart.
I barely removed the apple from my mouth and even though the others were stunned, I heard Kevin's laugh. I sat up and then Maru and I caught sight of each other chewing grapes.
"Of course not!" I said aloud.
"But I saw you two, what happened, that coffee, Zeke is really stupid, it's still burnt while preparing your coffee," Lucas laughed.
I breathed a sigh of relief. I thought what he was referring to earlier, it was just coffee.
Really stupid.
"You still haven't changed," Kevin interjected.
"I thought, you two have a relationship with Annika, don't you have Zeke?" his curiosity that silenced me.
Why do so many assume? Didn't they know he had a girlfriend? After all, Zeke introduced Fionah, so they should have known.
"No. We're not," Zeke said quickly.
He stared at Kevin and then walked to the kitchen. Kevin and I just looked at each other and then nodded in agreement with what Zeke said.
"Zeke is not my boyfriend, he will never be."
